The actual video starts at 15 seconds, because everything got screwed up again and youtube ALSO wasn't cooperating. So I said "fuck it" and just posted this anyway. -Bamboo Tameshigiri. I found some bamboo and sawed some down for tameshigiri. Clearly I am definitely nowhere near skymiles. :)

Wow, very nice video you have here. I love the rain and your focus. Awesome video!

Well there are many different varieties of bamboo,adding to that,climate,amount of rain,temperature,even temp variance from day to night will affect the "toughness" of bamboo even in the same varieties.Not to mention diameter and thickness of the bamboo wall,age,etc.Many types of bamboo,proper diameter of course,are much more challenging than proper tatami omote.Good luck in your training!Sincerity and dedication!

Yah, i think thats the reason their traditional house designs feel like the house is part of nature. Obviously only those that can afford to be lavish like high ranking or rich merchant have great expansive views.

Like an endless argument on the internet? The milk jugs are actually fairly decent due to mass. If you don't cut, you have NO idea of your edge alignment....

Love how you are doing tameshi giri in the rain brings a sense of atmosphere, did your sword get some staining from the rain? And does your style of swordsmanship condone a stop point that has your sword behind you after cutting?

@BlackShinobiShozoku i know, the bamboo just looks tough but it you really think about it the shinken can go pass human bone with ease. too bad greg took 5 trys in his home study (and still fail to hit the node of the bamboo and use a katana at point blank range) but yeah, no power is used to cut those

Its a preview of a larger clip im working on. Tatami is virtually impossible to find in the nearest city to me which an hour drive either way. I could call one dojo but i doubt they buy local. However water bottles, pool noodles and pickels are more than what i see on your channel.... the description of which i can only assume is a joke.

Why create another channel? SHoulda just posted it on this one so that there is a clear path to your improvement. Anyway did your sword get some staining from the water? Actually is it a folded sword? Or just a single forged one?

@BlackShinobiShozoku then the paul chen PPK is what you're looking for. thats the sword i cut pipes with

I thought it might be. They can take the cutting man. Do it. :) Loosen up and let loose. If you are worried about finish, use hot water in milk jugs. The plastic softens right up, no chance of damages. You can also saran wrap the handle.

Japan is relatively humid, isn't it? Water isn't a problem. Oils and acids from fingers is. There is post on the net somewhere about a guy that let his friend hold his katana and the guy touched the blade. He wiped it and a month later the finger prints showed up. A blade should be kept in a dry oiled state.

@BlackShinobiShozoku a little bit ( me being a paul chen fan) that blade is made from 1090 steel (first gen) its a very hard thick blade

I've got an assorted target video. Testing everything from knifes to the back of a machete. Check it out. But i agree, they aren't a challenge to cut until you start taking thin slices off that are around the shape size. Thats the point. You can also cut tatami standing without a peg.....

I've tried... i didn't like the result. Good analogy though! lol Maybe i'll try again. My test on it wasn't really done properly. Set it in a bench vice in my shop with no room to swing.

That's good, wouldn't want you to ruin a sword just so you can have a good scene. Then again probably best to use a cheap sword for situations like that just so you dont mess it up. From recollection if you are using a traditionally forged sword you would've started degrading the blade. From memory when i visited a Japanese sword store in Kyoto they were meticulous with the handling as they didnt want to ruin the blade surface and lose its edge through humidity but that could be irrelevant

please be careful with your footwork man, I don't want you to slice of your leg. Generally you would cut to the side which one which the leg is in back.

You polished your sword? I highly doubt it. Maybe you buffed it but polishing = sharpening when talking about a katana... Little piece of advice; spray it with PAM or oil it heavily if you are cutting and water is involved. Avoid getting said oil on your handle.

@BlackShinobiShozoku and really the last samurai soundtrack is too too funny but... and what's with the stare off into your mom and dads back yard? having a last samurai vision? if that is the best you can do then I am definatly far more advanced then you and what does that say about your teacher compaired to mine?? you have the nerve to tell me anything about swords LOL that's as funny as the soundtrack

ok now your just trying to hard bro, waiting till the rain falls??? da fuq?? modern samurais seem to give more attention to how they look rather than how they are trained. Musashi would be ashamed.

@BlackShinobiShozoku NO offense just being burtally honest anyone who backs me up is legit they just don't have to prove anything to the almighty peekster and again yes I make mistakes ... but I fix them you don't look like you are learning much and tell me about posture and by that proformance compaired to my jumping cut on a tree not a ...weed I am clearly learning more then you

@BlackShinobiShozoku bamboo is a plant (face palm) and those were pretty small twigs off the bamboo plant maybe if you had bundeled them up like the ninjer master it maybe some kind of skillful (don't worry i'll show you i'm getting some) also you were not doing a kata so that was a stupid statement huge shoulder dip and wrong stance leaving yourself (back) exposed I don't have a teacher what's your excuse? maybe you should stick to wooden swords leave the real ones for skilled people like me :)
@ninjamixer

@BlackShinobiShozoku hey peeks where in that movie did you see tom crusie cutting twigs?? just curious maybe you should watch choson and cut some normal size boo I don't know what your japanese words mean or care but my balance is fine and impractical moves? certinly not HK or Yedo or the flag girl stuff as far as that goes and the "boring stuff" lol again you don't know how I train I do the boring stuff too just don't always show it but what I do show is more interesting and better than you
@ninjamixer
@ninjamixer 12 жыл бұрын
you don't show any kind of legit training and if that's what you learned at green belt level well... i'm glad to be a ninjer and have the better teacher you know choson is a fogiving guy if you apologize he may teach you properly just a suggestion

accomplishments against children don't count twigs I don't need a ţeacher to see what you are doing is wrong it just looks wrong and you didn'ţ correct it you kept doing it wrong people who don't know or care even kind of look at it and say there is something wrong but at your twig cutting level that is the last mistake you should make I can't even do it wrong when trying that is a fundamental mistake

@BlackShinobiShozoku oh poor little twiggy 1 you can't and don't shut me up 2 you REPEATEDLY made the same fundamental mistake of stepping forward with wrong leg and were lucky to not get hurt 3 you have NO balance or proper posture when you are not in the proper stance for a cut ( you only got through it cause it was a twig) and you were using a sharp sword I have cut thicker boo with my cheap beater sword and you say i'm swinging it like a baseball bat hahahaha lol I am square in my cuts ....
