How do you establish torpedo run times over distances? That's the one piece of information that always made well timed attacks impossible for me. I just had to wing it.

In one of two ways. 1: Math - 1 knot = 0.562603 yards/second so - Run Time in Seconds = Distance in Yards / (Torpedo Speed in Knots * 0.562603) 2: A lookup table - Check out the subsim thread on this series at www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=221623 and get the reference materials archive. Third post from the top.

9:20, sorry but I didn't get your calculations at this point .. Do you use a chart off-screen and is it available somewhere ? (I'm french so trying to get everything but sometimes it's quite difficult..) Thanks for your tutoriels, impressive amount of knowledge flow through these convoy targeting videos of yours !

+09yeahAZ Yes. I used a lookup table just like I did in the first video of this series at 17:50. See the subsim forum thread at www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=221623 Post 3 contains a link to my reference materials and training missions archive. Thank you for bringing this up, as it appears that I forgot to link this in the descriptions. I will correct this oversight soon.

+ColonelSandersLite Ok I'm printed these beauties ! I'm at one inch to understand the whole strategy. My question is: when do you know when to stop maneuver "hard to starboard" to be at the specific angle of 45° compared to the convoy ? Thanks to the 2m25 you calculated with your crew ? I'm sorry about all my questions, it'll be my great pleasure to succeed such a superbe hit like yours (3 targets at once, woaw !)

+09yeahAZ So at about 5:15 to 5:30, I decide to hit two targets with 0 gyro shots with a 45 degree track angle. This part is mentioned repeatedly through the attack planning process. At about 12:30, I talk about how I we can't know the actual course to turn to until we know the convoys actual course. We just know that the course will be whatever course is dictated by a 45 degree track angle from the target track. When I'm finally in in front of the convoy, preparing to actually attack, at about 14:05, the target plot shows the convoy on course 142 degrees. At about 15:34, I measure out a 45 degree track angle and note that this means I want to turn to a course of 7 degrees. At about 21:15, I start the turn. I stop the turn at about 22:20. I know to stop the turn by watching the compass so that the ship will be on a heading of 7 degrees. I hope that answers your question fully. Also, I hit and sink 4 ships in one 10 torpedo attack in the last video ;).

+ColonelSandersLite Yeah, thanks a lot ! It explains everything (my compass, the vanilla game's one is not very accurate though ..) You really are a good teacher ! Nooo, 4 ? I'm checking that out right now then ! *o*
