Working with WernerSobe's sonar only attack technique led me to develop the only other workable sonar only method to date, the Dick O'Kane Sonar Only Technique.
With this technique you use two or three pings to set the course and speed of the target. Then you can go passive only for the rest of the attack, as the only things that matter are that you are at right angles to the target track and when the target crosses your shoot bearing.
This is really not difficult to do and is maybe the most fun you can have in Silent Hunter as you obliterate a target you've never laid eyes on.
