As someone who hasn't read the books yet, the way the Crows' plot was incorporated into the story seemed very natural. I was surprised to find out it had changed so much from the books. So many YA adaptations mess things up when they make changes but this one did it right.

as someone who has read the books, i think the reason it was done so well is because they kept the core of the characters, and changed the plot to fit them and make in character decisions

It probably helps that the author is an executive producer. She knows these characters and the story best. I think it’s also the smartest decision ever, I personally only read the crows books so I don’t know if I would’ve been so interested in the show if they weren’t a part of it. And it’s like a new story altogether. Really good thinking on their part. And keeping the author involved helps make the book fans happy as well, as they keep true to the characters. This is probably my favorite Netflix show, actually.

Since it is based on the books of leigh bardugo what I can say is if they ever have a 2nd season i believe it will get more interesting! Especially there are more characters that will be introduced😁 in the 2nd book

My English literature teacher once told us that an effective actor can make the people hate the character you're portraying if you're a villain in the story, and Ben Barnes performance as the darkling is exemplary. From the acting, the costume and the emotion, everything about him in this show is just amazing. I'm a sucker for the good guys but how can I hate the bad guy if Ben Barnes is just simply outstanding.😍👏

I ignored this series cause I thought it was going to be another shitty teen fantasy romance show but my friend begged me to watch and I caved. I ended up smashing this out in one day, it was awesome. I really really loved it and I'm not usually into fantasy type stuff.

The trailer doesn't do this show justice. The Crows' stories intertwined with the Journies of Alina and Mal is really clever, and what really makes this show so refreshing and the standout that it is. Season 2 please :)

My friend and I thought we'd check out just the first 5 minutes last night.... WE WERE HOOKED. Binged 4 episodes before going to sleep. This is the real deal - with Exceptional writing, a whole cast of new charismatic actors (many who are sure to break out) and great storytelling. With a setting as huge as Game of Thrones, and not dependent Only on special effects. Can't wait for the next season to appear.

@@aliomar2912 i think s1 is basically shadow&bone mixed with a prequel to six of crows, and it’s planned to have 3 seasons (but that could change according to eric the producer). so if it follows the 3-season-plan it’s likely to be: - s1: shadow & bone and a six of crows prequel - s2: siege & storm and six of crows - s3: ruin & rising and crooked kingdom (though the soc part could change depending on how they change the plot points to mix the timelines)

@@ems5454 So to get a scope of the world, the Shadow and Bone series should be read first, then Six of Crows, then King of Scars and Rule of Wolves. You don't have to read S&B to understand SoC, but you do to understand KoS and RoW

@@ems5454 I recommend reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy first. It can help you better understand the world and it takes place about two years before the events of Six of Crows. Then you should read the Six of Crows duology. I read Six of Crows first and I was fine, so you don’t have to read it in that order. If you enjoy the books then there’s another duology called King of Scars. There are characters from Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, and it takes place after six of Crows. I recommend reading both Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows since this show will be about those series.

That duology is the only one worth reading. also no point in reading the very boring King of scars or Rule of Wolves...Leigh does not know how to write political pieces and it dragged on and on and on. I never read the book but after some research I found out that they merge the characters from two different sagas in one. I knew the crows were too cool for them not to have their own saga.

Even though there are some changes, can we just talk about how they’re actually matching the tone and themes of the books and doing all the characters justice and just GIVING THE BOOKS THE ADAPTATION THEY DESERVE because it is too rare

YES now I’ve only read shadow and bone so far but the casting and acting for alina, mal, and the darkling are exactly how I imagined them

Is this a series or are they throwing all the books into one movie? That’s the one thing that made me hate the adaptation of miss peregrine. I loved the books and absolutely hated the movie. I actually hadn’t read the last one and didn’t realize that they summed it all up!

Just finished watching it! It is a really good series, a must watch! Anyway I thought Ben Barnes is on his early 30's, turns out he is 40 already! he's definitely looks younger than his age 😍

Till date this is the best series of 2021....but worst part is you have to wait 1 year for next season...eagerly waiting for S02...

I really liked that they casted Ben Barnes as the Darkling, he looks so intimidating and the difference in power between him and Alina is so evident.

ya i also agree. the power dynamic between the two is going to be really interesting to watch, and compare to the book. i just think he’s a bit older looking, but ig you’ll never find the darkling that looks like the fanart on pinterest 😭 lmao
