Today in Bad Book Club, I read Shane Dawson's terrible book so you don't have to. It's called "I Hate Myselfie" (relatable), the same name as his short film and it has ruined my life over the last 3 weeks. Don't read this book. Please.

You know what sucks? I grew up LOVING shane. I started watching him when I was 10... yea let that sink in. And I admired everything he did including writing this dumpster-fire book. I asked my parents to get me this book for Christmas when I was around 12 (? maybe I can’t remember the exact age but still fairly young and impressionable) and the worst part? I loved this book... I thought it was hilarious bc it was “typical shane” ... I’m 17 now and it grosses me out thinking about how much I loved him & this book as a literal CHILD. Especially after seeing his predatory behavior-if the r*cism and countless insensitive jokes towards multiple communities wasn’t enough. And obviously I’ve grown a lot since then and I see what a garbage, insensitive, disturbing, deranged human Shane Lee Yaw is. Also, somewhat off topic, but can I just point out how unfunny shane is? He’s not even a comedian. He just says shocking or unethical things that forces people to make an awkward laugh because they don’t know what else to do. This man is unbelievably untalented. Take a look at Drew Gooden, Danny Gonzalez, & Kurtis Conner for a small example. They’re actual comedians who have a KZfaq platform. Even if you dont like their particular humor, you can still call them comedians because you can acknowledge their comedic style. They don’t rely on being insensitive or immoral to garner a few laughs. Thanks to anyone who actually read this ramble lol I’m just forever haunted by the fact that I use to love sh*ne d*wson and fell for all his manipulative tactics geared towards kids... it unsettles me til this day.

As a person with Tourette's, Shane's behavior is very disrespectful. He thinks that the tics make him "quirky" in someway and somewhat glorifies Tourette's. I personally don't have severe tics that disrupt my daily life but acting like Shane does is making a mockery and a false image of Tourette's that is simply not true. Just because someone has Tourette's does mean they will swear uncontrollably, it effects everyone differently.

Man, this is almost definitely not the main point of the video, but as someone with Tourette’s myself… I would jot be surprised in the slightest if he did that. I would be surprised if he DIDNT, frankly. People do that shit all the time, but what they don’t realize is that it can actually put people in real danger; one of my tics is me shouting “oh, fuck off! Thank you!”aggressively, and my psychologist was genuinely scared for my safety after I developed that one because of how many unsafe situations it could put me in (IE I’m walking down the street and do that tic, some drunk dude hears it and gets aggressive and tries to stab me). Like,,,,, as much as you might think Tourette’s can be funny (and sometimes it can; I mean ffs another one of my tics is the ‘noice’ vine, which can be pretty funny out of context), it can also be dangerous and there’s a reason it’s considered a disability. Anyways rant over, I just wanted to get that out there because ppl faking Tourette’s for fun happens CONSTANTLY and it gets on my nerves. I’ll prolly leave another comment after I finish the video fully lmao but oh well

and in fact was an abuser himself. i'm seriously trying to understand where HE was abused bc bullying isn't really the abuse he thinks it is. abuse implies someone in a position higher than him like a parent or teacher was hurting him and yet he always had food, clothes, and shelter. He also had that thing called LOVE. lots of children don't get that. I think he was a spoiled child who was treated like crap at school so his family doted on him and missed all of the signs that he was creepy and problematic, or they saw all the signs and babied him more bc he "has it so rough." He only had it rough bc he wasn't a good person and karma was trying to wake him up. If he was actually spiritual, he'd see that.

His brothers turned out to he drug addicts and one of them tried robbing his mom and Shane at one point to get extra cash. Shane also has said he was abused by his baby sitter multiple times and how he had like 2-3 friends growing up and used to get bullied and hates alot. You can hate the dude all you want but you can't deny and say he's had an easy life. Him being from a poor neighborhood also explains why he didn't understand cultural normes because poor people are less concerned about being SOCIALLY correct and make edgy jokes all the time and the during the 2000s everyone was making those type of jokes. You must be 15 then. The dude wasn't even popular when this book came out. He used to average 200k-400k views on most videos and wasn't until 2016'ish that he really started getting popular because of the "trying different foods" thing. Shane never tried to hide him being a dickhead until he got really popular and tried changing his personality. Literally go watch any "Try not to laugh" videos that Shane is in from 2012'ish and he clearly doesn't pretend to be a super cute uwu dude.

The vast majority of people with Tourette's don't swear as tics - I do and it's not the "weird fun quirky" thing that it's shown as here. Swearing without meaning to isn't fun, it's frustrating, just as other tics are. I need a cane and often a wheelchair due to my Tourette's, I'm not happy with my disability being portrayed as a joke. I have mixed opinions (most being negative) towards this book. This past year in college I've had to read many pieces of literature that sound similar to shane's writing style in this. It's shocking, weirdly detailed, and has uncomfortably perverted childhood thoughts and details that shine a light on the idea that childhood is not always innocent. In a way, I can see why he might write like this because there are many texts that are written this way that are pretty famous, but I think to release something like this book in the 2010's is not a very good idea because (a) he's not a famous writer, (b) most famous literature like this was written a long time ago and (c) socially, there are countless reasons this is not cool for todays standards

I was introduced to Shane Dawson at age 11 at a friends house. We loved his videos, and had no idea about his past of racism and all that other shit. I’m sad to say I used to be one of the people who would defend him on any whim, but I’m glad that I’ve learned the truth about his narcissistic, manipulative attitude. Thank you for being one of the people who helped educate me about Shane, I’m glad those times are over. I do miss Garret and Drew, though.

Basically they didn't have ac in their home so his mom "puts her a** on the vegetable drawer and then proceeded to "m*an like a dog" (his words not mine). They then went to the beach and it makes him uncomfortable(some weird description) and he talked with his mom abt how cool it would be to own a beach house. He described him and his mom, talking about decorating the house, as two lesbians. A lady with her husband passed by them and she was like I don't like looking at lesbians. Shane then realized that everyone thought he was a girl because of his "pretty face and perky breasts" (his words not mine). He then described how we tried to make himself look more "like a guy" and omg one of them was to stuff that place with socks but he said that it just made it look like he's got a fat v*g*na

@@lastnamefirstname4678 the way he acted around that time though was confirmed still happening when trisha was betrayed by him, everything his old friend from 2010 bree essrig said trisha confirmed. and as someone who defended shane because they were supposed to be best friends, she is clearly hurt by who he really is. again stop defending shane so hard, you don't need too. who cares if he hasn't made those jokes out loud in years, i am sure he still wants too :P

@@ChrissaTodd so what you're saying is people can't ever change ? He's shown 0 evidence of making or wanting to make those type of jokes again and it's been 5 years since he last made any type of edgy joke so I think we can believe him at this point. Also Trisha isn't exactly the best person to judge someone's character on. She literally called Adam22 a R**ist on Twitter and then bragged about how her video with Adam22 on onlyfans makes her millions. She got mad at Shane because Shane was friends with Jefree and jefree made jokes about Trisha. Trisha was literally defending him until that happened lmao
I watched Shane Dawson's awful film so you don't have to...
