I’m so proud to have been in that audience. My dad is wearing an orange shirt in 1:24 ; left of the RUS letters

Having fenced in the 80s and 90s I'm happy to see a change from the annoying midback flicking era.

Kruse drives me nuts the say he immediately gives up ROW off the line. When he takes ROW back, he certainly seems to know what to do with it and finish.

Why do they look so serious lol, it's like they don't even want to be there

I think there is just so much pressure to win the bout. It takes 15 touches and you have to keep a level-head through the ups and downs of the bout.

Logos AO that's true, I guess that's what I enjoy about playing at the college level, it's stressful but still tends to be fun.

It's not only that as well but these world cups in particular are so important to their world rankings. Not just for the world championships this year but for the Olympics too. Now that we are halfway until Tokyo, these guys are trying to maintain their spots for when it rolls around.

what’s with introducing the referees as if they are more important than the fencers
@movieHighlights238165 жыл бұрын
Well, fencers come in first, and referees have hard work, self-explanatory

@@LancetFencing ok so. 1. I've always been taught, and it's been repeated to me by every Maitre d'armes I've ever had, that you need 3 people to fence : 2 fencers and a referee. The referee (here, referees) deserve the same respect as the fencers, and it's part of the fencing etiquette. 2. They announce the name and the nationnality of the referee. The nationnality is obviously to make qure there is no conflict of interest. But it's quite deeper than this. There are a lot of different ways to referee fencing, ranging from whether you tend to give simultaneous actions more often than not, whether you give some cards that seem a bit harsh, ... In this case, this referee in particular seems to say halte to corps a corps from the very beginning, not letting the fencers have any time to bend around trying to land a touch. Some refs would give more time. The fact that international refs' names are announced allows everyone to be able to catch onto these kind of specificities and know what to expect, since refs are usually very consistent in these specificities. 3. I don't have a lot of examples in mind, but in football (soccer ?) for example, the refs' names and nationnality are all given on the screen and often read out loud by commentators.
