The first person I thought of when I heard that this was real was Shaq. I couldn't imagine how Kobe's parents, wife and kids must feel, but Shaq - man, I grew up with him and Kobe running the NBA. I remember watching the early days, the dynasty that began the 2000s, the run back in '10 when Kobe won his final ring - those were all memories that I'll cherish forever. Shaq seems devastated - like a broken man. I hope God grants him the serenity that he and everyone who has been affected by this will need. Get some rest, big man. Kobe and Gigi are in a better place. RIP, KB & GB. ✝️🏀🐍

I lost my Mom to ovarian cancer coming up on 5 years this February. That same day, after I held her as she left this world, I had to put both of my dogs down and held them as well as they passed on. Since then I have lost an Uncle, Grandpa, a Cat that was given to us to help grieve and a dog we rescued. Since the end of 2018 until now I have lost three more family members. I woke up in recovery from shoulder surgery 11/8/18 to my Dad telling me my Grandma had passed to Alzheimer's. In June of 2019 we returned home from an annual golf tournament to my other Grandma passing from Alzheimer's. Shortly after my Aunt would die. We all suffer loss at one point or another and in all different ways. It's up to us to carry on their legacies and remember all the times we had together. That is how we keep their spirit alive. My prayers go out to you all who suffer with loss and who miss those who have moved on. It's a pain that never goes away or lessens, you only get stronger at carrying it. Godspeed, everyone.

Moved to NJ and said to myself, I will always be a Lakers fan. Then came Kobe and been a fan of him since. I only got to see him play Live twice. Most memorable of them was game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Lakers and the Nets when the Nets were still in Jersey. I always wanted to take a vacation to Los Angeles (have never been back after moving as a child) to watch Kobe play 1 last time at the Staples Center before he retired, sadly I never got the chance. I suddenly lost my father almost 3 years ago, the day before I was set to graduate High School. I was 18. When you experience a major loss like that, you get this feeling like “well at least I’m ready for anything now, if I can handle this I can get through anything” I’ve experienced losses since that day, but Kobe was the first one to deliver a similar since of shock that I felt when my father died. I can relate to a lot of what Shaq is feeling, and I have nothing but respect for what he had to say in this video. A lot of people feel that way inside, but it is very hard to put into words the way he did. The sad reality of loss is that you never “get over it”. You just learn to live with it. And it sure will take some time. From a diehard Dallas sports fan, I will always honor you, Kobe. Rest In Peace, MAMBA AND GIANNA BRYANT💜💛

Man, Shaq's statements really got to me. I watched these guys dominate the NBA when I was in HS. Followed their careers, and although I didn't know either one of these guys, it's definitely a piece of you that gets lost after following greatness for such a long time and it's just snatched away in a heartbeat. I think that's why it's impacted so many people.

So sad hearing the big guy cry This was literally one of the hardest videos that I ever watched without becoming emotional. Let us all pray for Kobe’s family and for the other families that are dealing with loosing their loved one. Just so sad

Never thought a jolly Shaq would be in tears like this... It really has hit hard across the spectrum whether you follow him or not. Rest Easy Mamba and Gigi, Shine like the brightest stars.

The tears and words showed the love he had for Kobe. They will be forever tied to each other. Much respect to Kobe's family, Shaq and the other lives that were lost that day.
