Shaq is such a good dude. A friend of mine contacted him for a friend's bachelorette party because she was a fan. He facetimed with them and they loved it (obviously). Then he called them the next day just to check in on them to make sure they had a good time on her bachelorette party.

This man Shaq would absolutely rock Rudy's world on the court. Rudy is literally no match for him. He may have the arm length advantage, but Shaq has all other advantages except maybe for speed. Shaq is known for being one of the most dominant players in history, Gobert is not even close to that level. I rather have Prime Dwight go against Shaw then Rudy, at least he had an offensive game.

I’m a therapist in a doc program who studies the relationship between masculinity and help-seeking stigma. It’s hard hearing what Shaq went through with with his father, who embedded those “toxic masculinity” patterns of behavior onto him that he is holding on to still. That idea that men don’t deserve to take care of themselves emotionally, let alone be taken care of sometimes and lean on others for support. Nobody can blame Shaq for this, because it seems like he was never given another model to go off of. Future fathers of the world, I beg of you to treat your sons like the human beings they are with all their emotions, vulnerabilities, and needs. Striving to be emotionless, impervious to pain, or someone who never needs anything from those around them is never possible and leads to deep inner suffering.

@@j.m7555 no one is afraid of hearing y’all emotions. The point is no one is gonna listen to yall disrespect or toxic thoughts. Shaqs emotions are real and raw. He has grown and mature at his old age and knows how to express himself. The problem with some men is y’all think ppl have to like or agree with everything y’all say and if they don’t they can’t handle the “truth”. I can say something doesn’t mean who I’m saying it to have to like my truth or agree with it. Hope you can comprehend what I’m saying.

@@marklaurencefirmeza2473 define success to me? He said he lives alone in an empty house and stays up at night thinking of his mistakes. Everyone may define it differently, but I would rather my child feel content, fulfilled, surrounded by people they love, etc., rather than being extra good at their job or rich.
@Gibson4411
@Gibson4411 2 жыл бұрын
@@j.m7555 I understand where you’re coming from. I have no doubt you feel this way because you have received some very real negative reactions to being vulnerable, weather it be to men or women, young or old. This is because everyone in society is affected by gender roles and “the patriarchy”. Unfortunately, society will never be ready until we unapologetically act genuinely and let society change in response.

Shaq is right. The thing I like about him the best is not only is he funny he’s genuine and hard-working and honestly he’s a man’s man someone who is respectable and stoic with tons of accomplishments. I understand how he would not respect players who do not play when they’re hurt because you should only not play if you’re injured because that’s what he did was play hurt. It is also very respectable that he respects the average hard-working American and understands the privilege he has even if it is earned privilege. It’s amazing that one of the most real and good people is also such a great example for young man that men should be stoic and logical and care about their family and their women before themselves that is the job of you as a man. It’s amazing how even somebody so rich and so accomplished can still realize that they made a mistake and made mistakes and they stay humble like this. You could tell she was almost confused which was kind of funny to watch because when he said he doesn’t deal with emotions and doesn’t have them that would be foreign to one minute almost like the rest of the interview she tried to attach emotions to him and it doesn’t work

This is a great interview. But not for a lot of the reasons many (mostly men) have expressed. For me as a woman it shows where men are in their thinking /feeling and how it can cause /create fissures in various relationships. I still feel like men need to find pockets of spaces to feel/show emotions in a HEALTHY way and not so much about being "soft" but being fully human in their self. Taylor did an excellent job.
