Absolutely one of the greatest songs of the 80's. It was played everywhere, on the radio, MTV, and even the skating rink. That sax solo just tops things off. They wrote it but couldn't get anyone to do it, so they did themselves. Just wish they did a lot more because this proves they both have "it" to break out from just song writing.

George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam, the duo here, written this song in mind for Whitney Houston. I had read somewhere she felt they should sing it. They had previously written How Will I Know and I Wanna Dance With Somebody for her.

I had to relook where I had found the info. They did write this song for Whitney in mind, but Clive Davis rejected it. Makes sense now, they are more suited for this song than Whitney. Would have liked to see how Whitney would have done with this though.

I have to say that this might just be the most perfectly crafted pop song ever created. One of my all time favorites. Soooo uplifting and happy. Just pure joy. It has it all. Infectious melody, snappy beat that makes it impossible to sit still, and a happy ending message. Love it! ❤️

These two wrote some of Whitney's greatest hits but when they pitched this song to her she didn't think this was right for her but it worked out so much better for Boy Meets Girl! Best song of the 80's!

This takes me back!!!! To Elementary school, about 3 rd grade. Sound asleep in my bedroom. Then I slowly start to wake up to the sound….. my moms alarm clock. This is the song I woke up to every. Single. Morning. Or…. The song just call me angel. If you have not heard of that one… It’s a oldie but a goodie❤

They were married at the time and the kid in the video was theirs.....sadly they divorced in like 2000'ish....still work together and friends to this day !! GREAT TUNE!!!! FYI.....they wrote 2 number 1 songs for Whitney Houston as well !!

Conceived at a Whitney Houston outdoor show. George was groovin during her erformance and a meteor arced across the night sky over the venue. That's how he put the elements together for this ridiculously romantic pop song. A true 80s genius.

They wrote two other hits for Whitney and this was originally for her too, but she told em to go for it, and the rest is history! Would have been another hit for Whitney but she had plenty! This song goes full tilt with that 🎷 solo! Miss those! ❤

The 80s wasn't a perfect time. It was still The Cold war, and in the early '80s there was a bad recession and high inflation. Still, it was a great period for music and films
