This song was the closing track for the movie, “Three Men and a Little Lady”. One time the movie was on TV. I put my boom box (with a blank cassette) next to the TV, turned the TV on full volume and pressed the record button on my boom box - just so I could record this song! 😊 Ah, the days of the mix tape.

I am one of those Tull , Zeppelin fans who love this song ! It is a shame how people can just be so cliquish , close minded , and insensitive about music. A great song is a great song regardless of the genre . It seems like this song just came out yesterday but enough time has passed to where a whole generation has never heard it . Glad you put it on your list .

It's simply a well constructed song lyrically, harmonically & melodically with Andy Snitzer's tasty sax work perfectly placed. Great bridge & modulation too. I'm not a Zep fan (other than Kashmir, their masterpiece), but I respect their work.

I was in awe when i discovered this song very recently... how on earth did i never listened (or missed) to this in the 80's...? I'm almost positive it didn't hit the top20 or Top10 portion of the charts in my country in 88, cause i would know it for sure, and it would have been an all time favorite for sure... Love the song and the band, i dived into their entire discography, and they have a lot of great pop songs. I also love the video to this song a lot, a lovely and happy family. The blond little girl in the video is their daughter. Shame they split up as a couple in early 2000's, but they are still friends and still working together. 😀

This song was originally offered to Whitney Houston but they turned it down. Curious because these two...husband and wife at the time....had previously written How Will I Know and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, both huge hits for Whitney. Belinda Carlile from the Go-Go's also did a demo of this song that is on youtube but never released. Aloha!

Boy Meets Girl was my favourite duo in the 80s,i absolutely fell in love with how they sounded together, and as just a kid then i wanted to be as lucky as George Merrill, when i saw how happy and beautiful Shannon Rubicam laying in his arms looked like. Both are singer songwriters, and they are actually husband and wife till this day. I hoped and praied that they would last longer then they did as a music duo, because good god Shannons voice stunned me,Georges voice stunned me,and together they are dynamite! And as others rightfully credit them, they wrote songs for other artists that were HUGE back then. This will forever be one of thoose favourite songs of my lifetime,i never tire of it. Seeing that beautiful black girl alongside the beautiful white girls playing together way back then in the 80s was heartwarming (EDIT: I almost forgot, they had a beautiful Asian girl with them as well). We all know things was still pretty rough back then, especially in certain areas of the world. Madonna fought for theyr cause, and in a heartwarming inclusive way George and Shannon wanted to join in,showing that we should have fun together, support eachother regardless of how we look like on the outside. Bless theyr souls! Shannon is turning 71 in October, while George turned 66 now in January.

Sweetie, I'm 52 years old and I must tell you that 80's music was the best, the best time, we were naive because our hearts were 💯💯% pure love. And to be honest to you, every time I hear this song I cry because I had real friends and one of them was my very first love. Ivan, was his name. OK. This is the way I have my playlist in my computer, phone and laptop. 1. 80's love songs 2. Club dance music 3. Spanish love songs 4. Reggaeton but the must I hear is the dance music. I'm glad you like it . By the way How you ended up with this song??

Released 1988... I hear your name whispered on the wind It's a sound that makes me cry I hear a song blow again and again Through my mind and I don't know why I wish I didn't feel so strong about you Like happiness and love revolve around you Trying to catch your heart Is like trying to catch a star So many people love you, baby That must be what you are Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah I've learn to feel what I cannot see But with you, I lose that vision I don't know how to dream your dream So I'm all caught up in the superstition I want to reach out and pull you to me Who says I should let a wild one go free Trying to catch your heart Is like trying to catch a star But I can't love you this much, baby And love you from this far Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah Waiting (however long) I don't like waiting (I'll wait for you) It's so hard waiting (don't be too long) Seems like waiting Makes me love you even more Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah Waiting for a star- And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah

When you have to hug the headphones with both hands and cry from the emotional pull, then you know it's a great song. Speaking of, it's fantastic song from brilliant songwriters (George Merrill & Shannon Rubicam, who were married at the time. That's their blonde little daughter in the video, who now is an equestrian that trains horses and co-runs an equestrian club.). However it was rejected twice before Boy Meets Girl recorded it on their own. First by Houston's label manager Clive Davis when they submitted it for Whitney Houston to record it, and second, by Belinda Carlisle did a version at the behest of her label, where she hated her own take on it so much she never included it on her album (though there are recordings of it available on other places like youtube, and believe me, she was right, it does not hold a candle to Merill & Rubicam's version). They also wrote "let's Hear It For The Boy For Deniece Williams used on the "Footloose" soundtrack, and "I Know You By Heart" recorded by Dolly Parton & Smokey Robinson, later beautifully covered by Bette Midler for the "Beaches" soundtrack.

@Senefra Love your comment here. I've done a recent dive into their body of work after rediscovering their song, and it truly is a work of song writing art. In all the info you've given, you said their daughter is an equestrian. Does she have any KZfaq content?
