Sorry, Shawn, been away for a bit , too many health problems, hospital stays ,tests ,scans and all sorts of other crap !!! BUT, the good thing is that there’s an awful lot to “Binge watch “ to catch up so it’s hard work but someone’s got to do it ! Thanks for waiting around for me. Very sincerely, Rod

It's good to see your wife being more comfortable staying at the cabin (without issues from neighbours etc). Even if she doesn't like being on camera much, she definitely has a good eye behind the camera and gets some good footage of you and Cali.

Love to hear how many different ways do you preserve your deer 🦌? Sure hope you have videos of your hunting adventures, my husband just got his first crossbow this year and honestly I’ve never shot one yet but excited to try and learn! Would love to hear any tips, happy hunting 2023 for you, and your family!

Great to see Shawn's wife at the cabin again, and to have your wife hunt with you...I could only dream of mine going with me once in awhile. I really like the low-light shot looking out the kitchen window, where the Berkey filter is on the right. It already looks like a well-lived in home, even though it's only a couple or few years old. I've had a Berkey for a few years now. It's great. Since there's only two of us, I figured, based on the Berkey website, that the two filters in ours are good for 16 years...one gallon a day. Anyone else use Berkey?

Yes. I have had Big Berkey for 40 years. Had given my folks the same and my son inherited it. Great investments. Several copies out there.

I have had the travel Berkey with 2 filters for 18 months. They are good for 6000 gallons. I am 80, so at 1 gallon a day which I drink it should last me the rest if my life.

Really liked the hunting side of this video, it's harder than people who don't hunt realize. I've done it and it does involve a learned skillset. I could tell by the stain on the fletching that you hand made a through shot, and obviously the stain on the leaves for tracking purposes. Tracking a shot deer is harder than a city only dweller would ever understand. I wish KZfaq allowed you to show it in its totality. I really feel people in the future will need these skills again, this format should be allowed to be a teaching format more than it is. If some don't want to see such things, then just don't watch. It's that simple.

I totally agree with this person. Everything they said is so true! I used to live in Wa. State just on the border with Canada and lived just like this. This is knowledge that is crucial to know. The world now is so dependent on corporations, fossil fuel, chemicals, that we have lost touch with Mother Earth! We all know that everyone can't be out there hunting and overfishing, but it is our right to enjoy this life and have this knowledge. We have to be able to teach people this way of living in a respectful manner, so we don't abuse the Earth! Thanks Shawn, please give us more.

Dennis and Tommy…wonderful to see non-hunters commenting like this. Everything you said is true. They are skills that are useful. If nothing else to help folk’s understand the process of “making meat”…maybe it would become as precious as it ought to be.

@@JohnSchneidersWildLife I actually grew up hunting in Missouri. Squirrel, rabbit and deer mostly and of course fishing on the edge of the Ozarks. I could survive off of forgotten trotline spots that used to be overrun with people in the 70's that no one goes to anymore.

You did a great job building them both. They're so beautiful and cozy. I hope the new owners of the first cabin are enjoying it and that they appreciate it. I have always had a love for log cabins. Hello Shawn, the photos turned out beautifully again, they remind me of my childhood. For me, being outside after dark and the soft light of the houses coming out has always been the beginning of the Christmas season! Today I'm still walking in the darkness at the edge of the forest and looking at the lights of the houses from a distance, especially when it's quiet, I enjoy this time. Thank you very much for showing it! Stay safe and healthy until the next video. Greetings from the Northern Black Forest - Walter 👍🏻 👍🏻

Shawn you capture the natural beauty of Northern Ontario so well with your camera. Every season there is so wonderful. The meals you cook for yourself and your wife are amazing. It must be so hard for your wife to leave when you cook her those 5 star meals. You must feel so proud and content now you are living in your cabin. All that work definitely paid off Shawn. I know there is more to do, but it is great seeing you relax and enjoy your home in the forest. .Every day is an adventure when you live among nature. What a joy it must be at the end of a long day, to sit by a fire in your beautiful home built with your own skilled hands. I really enjoyed watching you build and stock your awesome root cellar! I know it is very satisfying to have a multitude of satisfying foods stored away. I enjoyed this episode; especially the discussion of the wildlife you’re hunting and their habits. Enjoy your videos very much. You must have a great feeling of accomplishment for what you have created. I look forward every week to your Friday videos. Built a log cabin I was pretty proud of back in the 80's but a bit too long in the tooth to take it on again now. So, I get to enjoy yours.

I'm always a little sad when your videos end. This one seemed to go by so quickly that I feel the way Cali looked when you left to go hunting without her. ~sigh~ The cabin and surrounding woodlands are so beautiful. Thank you again for inviting us to visit.
