While I used to consider this my all-time favorite film until about 20 years ago, I've since backed off a bit from that stance after learning how many story elements Stephen King lifted from the 1979 film "Escape from Alcatraz" (the hardass warden, the black friend of the main protagonist, the institutionalized old guy who gets his livelihood taken away from him, the guys who try to violate the main protagonist, etc.) -- and apparently also the 1956 film " A Man Escaped" (though I still haven't seen that one).

I absolutely enjoy what you put in the title “THIS MOVIE WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE “ Your video title rocks! The tagline to the film on the original Shawshank movie poster is quite appropriate as well. “FEAR CAN HOLD YOU PRISONER... HOPE CAN SET YOU FREE.” Another similarly powerful movie that I highly recommend you get a chance to react to in the near future would definitely be the film “Peaceful Warrior” it was a film that also had an appropriate tagline on its movie poster “A FILM THAT CHANGES LIVES.” It definitely sounds like a movie you would really enjoy.

It's an amazing film. I'm so glad you watched it. There are innocent people in prisons. But I tell you, the prison system is a crime all to itself. There are countries that make their "prison systems" about rehabilitation, and re-education, and they have extremely low rates of recidivism. They help people change and return to life, rather than finish the ruin of their lives. Reparative justice is always better than blind imprisonment. Thanks for sharing this with us! Means a lot! Great reaction as always!

Red killed his wife for insurance money and ended up also accidentally killing a neighbor and her child. He got a life sentence (45yrs) for that. He wasn't expecting to be let out after less than half. Andy got 90yrs (two life, back to back). Brooks was paroled after 50, so his was probably similar to Andy's. Brooks had killed his wife and daughter. What got Red paroled was saying, "not a day goes by I don't feel regret..."

If you reach just one person, make someone think of something better, it´s all worthwhile. I´m lucky enough to have reached people after being inspired by a movie. It´s no joke. I´ve been told that I´ve saved lives. It´s humbling. Keep doing what you´re doing. Much love.

Look after yourself, please, whatever you can't tell the world, it is obviously traumatic to you, and that changes any of us, For Life. It's good for you not to overshare. You therefore also understand a whole lot better, just what is really important in life. It's not wads of cash, looks, exy clothes, cars or houses. It's the friends that get you, and know you very well, the family that stand by you through everything, and the memories of great times spent with them. Leaving your whole support team in prison has to be very difficult, starting again in a very different world, would be like emigrating. When one of my Aunts got old, she said, "it's a terrible thing to outlive all your friends." All the best.
