This is one of those performances I can watch again and again -- it's a masterpiece. She's 13 years old and competing in one of the biggest talent shows in the world. She's chosen one of the most beloved songs of all time -- a HUGE risk -- and she's restyled the song completely (a 'HUGER' risk.) With no accompaniment, she begins with 15 seconds of a cappella (one falter could end her career.) Her pitch is perfect, she enunciates perfectly (and English is not her primary language), and she moves through the song at a steady pace. The only disappointment with this performance was that the audience drowned out her last few notes with a thunderous standing ovation. Wow. Wow. Wow.

This performance led directly to her signing with Republic Records. The story is that negotiations were breaking down and people were getting ready to walk out the door, when her Uncle Mike put this in a player and things turned 180* and she got a Preferred Artist contract and also had control of her own music. There were other concessions made for the remaining couple of year of school and her childhood. So yeah you could say this was an important event. Angelina and Kazakhstan's Daneliya Tuleshova are two young singers with incredible musical instincts. Though they have different styles, they both possess the ability to access your emotions with their voices. I've heard this probably a hundred times yet today I teared up (again). To think how risky this song is - start a capella and totally changed the song with the chance it would be a flop and do it in front of millions. Could have ruined her career. However, this is the incomparable AJ, who is totally confident in who she is and what she offers. There are 2 camera shots of Alesha Dixon which says it all. First at about the 4 min mark where she has this look of "what is going on here" and again at the 4:20 mark, which was perfectly captured by the reaction of Leo who said that Alesha was thinking, "How can she do this. I can't do this". Alesha, after hearing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", said (and I'm paraphrasing here), "I hope that the superfans vote for you to win because I will be voting for you". This is one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. And I still feel the emotion after watching it hundreds of times. This is Angelina, at 13, with her own arrangement of one of the most famous contemporary songs, on her debut on American TV. A cappella opening, minimal music backing her-a display of Angelina’s musicality, confidence, and that magic voice. Part of the reason you got choked up is Angelina’s unique ability to make you truly understand the lyrics. Her interpretive skills are as good as her music. A great example of this is her next AGT performance of Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road. When Elton John sings it, it’s great 70’s pop music, but the lyrics are lost behind the music. When Angelina sings it, you understand every word and nuance in the lyrics. Pop music becomes a personal interpretation of what success really means. It’s a spectacular performance, and in the couple of minutes that Angelina is allowed, she really shows what she can do with her voice.

(AGT 2020 not many years ago) I have listened to most Angelina performances at least 100X, and I can listen to them 1000X more, specially if you react to them 😎😍👍

Angelina completely rearranged this Iconic song. So set into our social thread, few, if any have dared rearrange it. Angelina showed a lot of creative courage. She started by facing her idol whom she’s wanted to sing for since she was 3 yrs old. Secondly, she started this arrangement by singing A-Capella and for an American National Audiences. Thirdly, her musical arrangement included only the guitar; one instrument, and she did this Pitch Perfect. She commanded the room immediately and everyone was instantly captivated and frozen by the sound of her voice. All of this at age 13. Simply Incredible.

Molly, what's so great about your reaction is that it's a confirmation of everything we heard AJ do when she was younger carried over into her development as a brilliant artist. Like you, I watched her performances of "Summertime" and "Feeling Good" and all the other jazz covers before AJ was on AGT, and when "Bohemian" came out I just couldn't imagine how she would handle it. And then to hear her arrangement so perfectly executed on the largest stage she had ever been on -- what could be better? No other prodigy has transitioned like this since Michael Jackson. Wonderful reaction, Molly! Angelina is such an extraordinary talent that even those of us who have been following her for years tend to forget that her body, therefore her voice, is still growing and changing. So, she continues to experiment with her voice, unpacking that immense talent, discovering new facets to exploit. Some of these "experiments" are less popular than others. but when she puts it all together, as in one of her latest covers, "Billie Jean" the results are amazing. I've listened to it dozens of times, yet continue to discover nuances that I had previously missed, like a tremolo, rather than a vibrato, used just once on one word, or holding a consonant much longer than normal, again just once. How fortunate we are to be able to witness how this young prodigy develops!

Hi Ms. Molly. I took am a fan of Angelina. I'm going to give away my age now, but I lived my teen years in the 70s discovering music and it turned out I liked most everything from rock to R&B, soul, jazz, motown, country. I ran across Queen one day and thought Freddy Mercury was one of the best vocals I'd ever heard. I carried that belief through them decades until I ran into Angelina voice. I know believe she has the best voice, living of dead. She has decades to master her craft, and unfortunately I won't be here to see most of it, I think when its all said and done, Angelina will be bigger than Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, all of them. Great reaction Molly. Nobody knew she was going to sing this because it was a secret. There were no expectations that she was going to sing Bohemian Rhapsody. We had to figure it out while she was singing. BTW, she literally made this her own as she copyrighted this shortened rearrangement of this song. Several singers have tried to cover this on YT &, so far, no one has come close to pulling it off. Since you didn't mention her Golden Buzzer, you must have seen the version with the last judge, Heidi Klum, cut out. That's a shame because if you didn't cry during the performance, you certainly would have if you had seen that. Then Simon goes up on stage to tell Angelina "I don't think you know how good you are!" Heidi & Angelina have become friends & they hang out together. She just released her "cover" of the Beatles song Yesterday & it is amazing, sung while sitting in a shopping cart, no less!

This is HER arraingement and she evidently DID see Simon on his XFactor Britain when she was 3 years old. Guess her parents didn't think much about that until she started this train rolling with 4 songs at her first visit to a pro recording studio, among them Hurt and I Who Have Nothing; then wanting to go on Norway's Got Talent but turned down as being too young. She waits a year, then at 7 enters and kind of for her 8th year birthday present wins it! She does alot of songs for the next few years, then gets an invite from the Talent as a "Champions" type edition series and does this one.

I have heard her sing this so many times, but tonight it was little bit like listening an alien, something that just had no parallel in this world. It wasn't so long ago, only 2 years. She cried when she got the Golden Buzzer, which is kind of unusual for her. She said she hadn't immediately decided to accept the invitation (and her uncle/manager limited the usual contract which gets a lot of control over performers whether they win or lose.) She said would give anything if her grandfather could have heard it and she could give him just one more hug. It's genius, and a real showcase for her immense talent, as it was meant to be. I like it better than the original (never was a Queen fan for some reason), but it's just very different. It made me aware of the original's power and beauty.

How can she take an original song that was a great hit and make it so much better than it was ever performed in the past? She is a talent that is so great and unlike anything we have ever experienced. I have experienced all the greats in my 74 years, but none come close to Angelina Jordan.

Her masterpiece is "I'm still holding out for you" She was 10 when she recorded it. It's almost the perfect song as it incorporates almost every aspect of Angelina's voice. Also check out both versions of "I'm a fool to want you". She sings the Billie Holiday version in both. Amazing how much she sounds like her. The first version was done acapella at age 7 on Norways Got Talent. The follow-up is when she was 11-12.

While I agree with you about what you thougt and told us, I seriously think that this performance touched you more on your personal level than you wanted to admit in front of us. So good to see you looking well and happy Molly. I've probably seen/heard this performance somewhere north of 300 times, and I still marvel at what she accomplished. Angelina makes it look so simple and easy, and that's part of what makes it wonderful. But I've heard several young performers attempt to cover her version, and it proves to be very difficult for them to master. What Angelina has created has many subtle nuances, and others just can't seem to duplicate them. Plus, she's all over the scales with runs and riffs here and there, and she remains pitch perfect. And she does all this in front of about 3000 people in the audience, another 10+M on TV, and four judges that can be very critical. And she blows everyone, including Queen, away. She did receive the golden buzzer from Heidi, and well-deserved. Actually, all three of her performances on this show were stellar. Great reaction. I think it's funny because I believe the judges all knew of Angelina before this show. Simon definitely knew who she was and Heidi was so excited she knew who she is and was probably planning on giving her the golden buzzer before she opened her mouth. Angelina's uncle / manager had conversations for years with fremantle media who owns most of the got talent shows in the world and had been trying to get her on the show since she won Norway got talent. But because they wanted her to sign with them if she won Angelina's family had been turning them down. The only reason she did this show was because they allowed her to come on but was ineligible to win.

I took a look at your personal description on your web site. It doesn't look like you are a vocal coach or have a professional singing background. That can actually play in your favor. So many times I've watched vocal coaches' reactions and get an anatomy lesson on the human vocal apparatus, taking apart this technique here or that passage there. In the end, I'm often left scratching my head wondering, "So what did you (reactor) think about the music?" How did it make you feel? Did it move you? Was it a great performance? Would you listen to it again and again? Molly, you didn't leave us any doubt how you felt about this performance and how much you enjoyed it. I think most viewers watch a reaction as sharing with a virtual friend the way you would share a discovery like Angelina Jordan or this performance with a best friend. On that score, Molly, you did great.

I am so glad that you fell in love with Angelina, the person. She is such a sweetheart, far from the obnoxiousness of the "Divas" that we are used to when singers become superstars. I strongly recommend Angelina's "I'm Still Holding Out For You". IMHO a classic song written by Baby FuzZ in 2016. That she was 10 when the soundtrack was recorded (the video 2 years later) is interesting; however, its her voice, the phrasing, the rich and emotional impact that makes it a classic.

A lot of people cringed (and still do) about her statements about Simon (the belief she was trying to impress him) - however, she had been saying since she first hit the limelight (around 6) that her dream was to perform in front of him
