Would you believe she's even better live. Saw her concert in Norway 10th July. She sang 18 songs and had a blast - incredibly confident on stage, laughing and chatting with the crowd. Several good recordings of this - Mattias Axelsson has been used by several reactors.

At her last concert on July 10th 2022, when Angelina told why she sings this song and dedicated it to her grandmother Mery Zamani, I understand this song completely differently. Before it was a beautiful song sung great, now it touches my heart every time. I'm absolutely certain that this video and the Elvis cover was recorded at the same time and in the same venue, well before Angelina's trip to Norway (Angelina did a TV performance there with two songs and 3 sold out concerts, there are many YT videos of it, info for the people who didn't know it yet) . She sang this as her opening song at the sing-along concert in Norway. Had her hair up with strands laying across her face on each side. The wind kept blowing those strands into her face and mouth, so much that she had to redo the whole performance right after the first. Good as those outdoor presentations were, there were distractions and pitch issues which would not be acceptable to Angelina. I think that's why she chose to release this...with her hair down and out of the wind.

About Angelina and I Have Nothing, this song is been in her since she was a little girl and I have the feeling that we haven't heard the last version from Angelina. This cover was a masterpiece, but she will find a way to make it better. Finally, you use the word "channeling" a lot and I think that you are absolutely right. She let beautiful songs get into her, and then she let them go from the deepest parts of her heart. AJ's performance is absolutely stellar. She has to belt near the top of her range, and she handles the key change perfectly. Very little vocal strain or pressure. Her riffs during the coda are from another planet -- and the way she sustains fry and vibrato and breathiness throughout her runs is her signature: easily the best I've every encountered. This is what happens when you bring a classic jazz mentality to pop.

Yeah I've been hooked since 2014 Gloomy Sunday. I think she is a Soul Catcher personally. Most people haven't a clue the actual aether energy all around us, the Tartarian buildings, roads, canals, cathedrals, banks, post offices, capitol, federal, state, county, city etc old world structures we now use and claim as our own... All harnessed the aether energy for free not so long ago. Angelina is the embodiment of that, she can actually harness what's floating around all of us. First of all I must say, you may not be feeling the best young lady, but you look fantastic. I loved this performance when it was premiered, but then I read a comment similar to the one made here by Kent Ove Wagenes, and I could feel and see the emotion as though she were singing this directly to her Grandma Mery, and it became even better to me. I love a very well done cover to a song. I listen to all kinds of covers. IMO, one thing that makes a great cover is the ability to add who you are to it and really elevate the song instead of trying do the exact same thing as the original artist. I think Molly said it best with this one is that Angelina channeled Whitney but at the same time was still Angelina Jordan. Great cover.

She stayed near to the original, but at the same time expressing her own in this, like in "Bohemian Rapsody" and "Suspicious Minds," where she changed the wole song. I suppose, before doing a song, she looks at the material, she has, decides, how it should be done, to express herself in it and then trying to pay respect to the original singer, or the one she relates to. Molly, for someone not "up to par" you look fantastic and sound great and you had a lot to say. I agreed with much of what you said. The one dimension I would add to what is going on is her voice adds a strong element of love to whatever she sings and it's something that cannot be manufactured or taught. Yes, she pays homage to the original song and the artist, as well, but her version is engulfed with a feeling of love to such a degree the listener feels it in their heart. It's amazing. And, so is she.
