He doesn't even love himself. He doesn't know what love is. He's just a despicable human being that keeps playing victim, thinking he's suffered the most, he's super childish, selfish, irresponsible. A huge fool. He never truly embrace his fate as to live as emperor. Always find excuses to cover his cruel schemes. This character knows no love, if he knows love he won't do such monstrous deeds. He's just an empty shell with no wisdom or virtue. Dang, I think I'm reflecting so much with this drama. So many life lessons to learn XD

What pains me the most about Consort Shu is that she committed suicide in hope of receiving the "love and affection" that supposedly Xiaoxian Empress received after she passed away. But that is a lie... there was zero love in those poems... a smoke curtain to make himself look devote and caring. She wanted to be loved.

If you think about it, Yehenara Yihuan story make her perfect candidate for 4 beauties of ancient china, a group of woman chosen as a political tool to control/bring down their opponent by distracting them from their duties. Some of them ended up fall in love with the man they suppose to control (e.g Diao Chan and Lu Bu) just like Yihuan and the emperor. And most of their life ended up in tragedy, again just like Yihuan.
