Basically, Maddie had suicidal thoughts and was able to see Mr. Martin and Janet, so Janet possessed her body on accident knocking Maddie out and by time she woke up Janet was gone and and is trying to live a new life Simon when first realizing that Maddie might be dead says he doesn't know how he can live without her, which is also having suicidal thoughts, so he was able to see Maddie's spirit

@funkymonke420 how lol that was a book bro we already know what happens in the show because they mentioned it in game of thrones 2 times once as the queen for half a year and the other was a story being told by Joffrey to Sansa.. he recapped on how she was betrayed by her brother and eaten by his dragon 🐉 🐉 rhenera that is.. the book was even more detailed. I wish they would have made another show instead of HoD so we could have got something new.

It might be awhile until season 2 comes out, but it'll be well worth the wait. That being said, I have a couple of theories, and there are some facts that could back them up. I say 'could' because it's all circumstantial, nothing concrete. It's heavily assumed that Mr. Martin was the one who locked Wally, Rhonda, and Charley in the fallout shelter, however, the lock didn't reset. How he was able to do that is a mystery. Well, we all know that Mr. Martin *wanted* them locked in there, but whether he locked it himself or not is unknown because we didn't actually see who locked the door. My theory is that Mr. Martin told a living person to lock it for him. That would explain why it didn't reset. We all know that Simon can see and hear Maddie, so we can't rule out the possibility that another living person can see and hear Mr. Martin. The only living person I can think of is Mr. South. The last time we saw him was when Sandra almost ran him over, and that was after he was arrested, which means he's out on bail. In episode 2, Mr. South somewhat talked about the scars of the school, which hints that he might know something about the spirit world. This doesn't necessarily mean that he's a bad guy. If anything, Mr. Martin is probably manipulating him - making him think he's doing the right thing. Of course, we don't know Mr. Martin's true intentions, either. Only time will tell. In episode 5, Mr. South was taking videos of the crime scene where Maddie's blood was. Although he explained why he was doing that, it could also be that he was documenting that for Mr. Martin. Also, in episode 6, the cops suddenly found Mr. South's bloody crowbar, which led to his arrest. Someone had obviously planted it there. Who else would've done that other than Janet, right? (Maybe Sheriff Baxter, but I doubt it) I'm thinking that Janet intentionally framed Mr. South to remove Mr. Martin's only connection to the living world. This is the most logical explanation I can think of, but I could be dead wrong.

My theory is that Martin can take a body just like Janet did, only he doesn't stay in it but just use it for a bit before switching back. I think he planted the bloody crowbar because he couldn't prevent Maddie from investigating, so he wanted to mislead her.

@@gillesnotard69 Normally, I would argue that if Mr. Martin possessed someone the victim's spirit would've been knocked out of the body, BUT we don't actually know that, so you could be right. Janet ran at Maddie, so it could've just been the impact that knocked her spirit out. Someone else also suggested that maybe Mr. Martin can possess Mr. South as he pleases because Mr. South appears to be confused at times. That's definitely a possibility.

I literally started watching this video a few days ago and stopped halfway through to go watch the show on Paramount. It was really good. I just finished it this morning before work. I was not expecting the ending. Was I the only one who thought Maddie killed herself? During her crying scene, I was just waiting for her to bang her head against that damn table and see a damn wrench just fall out of nowhere and boom, that’ll explain her death. Lmfaooo. 😅

I like the idea behind this but there are a lot of fuckin plot holes. Which, imo, is actually better done as the ghosts NEVER interact with reality except through the only person that can see/hear them.

That's a good surprise twist ending. Seems to be well set up. The viewer learns things as the characters do. But not in a clumsy way. The characters, alive and dead, make assumptions, which are often wrong or simply mistaken and partially wrong. Seems to be pretty well written and acted for what could have easily devolved onto lazy schlock. Some of the clips, though, show ghost Maddie picking up real-world stuff. I thought they couldn't interact with the real world. And then they were locked in somewhere. How could that happen? Or was it the live people locked in somewhere. With this recap I sometimes got confused about who was alive and dead.

When Maddie or other ghosts pick up stuff, they make copies in the ghost world with them. Like the golf cart they kept driving around is actually still parked somewhere in the living world.
