Have you ever dropped your motorcycle? Well we have. Come see what we did to recover from the drop and make sure it doesn't happen again.
We are completely fine! More parking lot practice is needed for sure. But Zhen is back on the bike and more ready than ever to increase her skill level to match her sense of adventure!

Delighted you're OK. 65yo geek from Dublin, Ireland here. Bought my first bike as a 15yo (Yamaha 50cc) and now on bike #10 (BMW 1600cc). Dropped bikes #1 to #5 and none since thanks to the lessons I learned each time--and bike #3 was a front blow-out and involved a low flying manoeuvre over the handlebars without a pilot's licence. Never stopped loving biking and loved every bike even the ones that tried to damage me. Wishing you many years of joy on those beautiful US roads. Keep her between the ditches as we say here.

Hey, just a few pieces of advice from an nc750x owner like you are: 1. Get good motorcycle boots, for example, I bought Daytona Road Star GTX for cold weather and Alpinestars SMX Plus v2 Vented for hot one. Yes, they are pricy, but medical expenses in the US are even more expensive. 2. Install crash bars, I've got R-Gaza Touring Crash Bars (look them up on amazon). They will save your bike and what is more importantly, your legs/feet (they won't let the bike fall on them). 3. 4:00 stop the bike only with your steering wheel straight. Even if bike's center of gravity is low, it is heavy (~500lbs) 4. If the bike is about to fall over use throttle a little bit and it will help. 5. I noticed that the rear brake is kind of weak on nc750x, I have never locked the rear wheel even if I pressed it with significant amount of force.

Thank you for the comment! You are 100% right on all those points! We have gotten her new adventure boots. Fortunately we had upper crash bars but we need to install lower ones next. I will check out what you are running. And we are actively working on those riding tips and she is progressing nicely. Thanks again!

I have an NC750x DCT. At low speed especially before 1st service the throttle has a tendency to snatch. There is a Honda recall to sort this with a reprogram of the ECU. Smooths it out a treat. All done in 15 minutes. Done 8,000 miles now with no further issues.

We'll look into it! She definitely does little stutter movements at slow speed.

I ride a 2022 Honda Africa Twin DCT with Electronic Suspension. I lowered the bike 2 inches and I can flat foot the bike now....I use Soupy's Performance lowering kit. I also installed a left hand brake for the rear brake. During slow speed maneuvering I use the left hand brake by slightly dragging the rear brake. I also use the left hand brake when I come to a stopped. I am 5"8" with 30 inches inseam. Hopes this help.

I have been riding for over 40 years, when I transitioned to a 325kg sports tourer, three years ago, I dropped it twice stopping and slow manoeuvring. It is easily done when getting used to a heavy machine. A good lesson on back brake stopping!

The main drawback on a ADV motorbike is that once is drop will go flat (the shape of the engine on the BMW let it drop less over solid ground, but they are heavy) while the engine protection bars aren't useful because they are made that way for when is used off-road. Someone use lateral bags to reduce this issue. I wonder if put bags is sufficient or add some sliders too do the tricks. Essentially these precautions are able to avoid a drop of the moto over the leg or not? So avoid an injury? Someone that have a ADV moto, purposely put down on the ground, could see if remain sufficient space for the leg?

It happens to us all. My mate has biked for 47 years and dropped his last week……it happens. The more experience you have, the less chances of dropping it occurs. You said yourself how you dropped it, you didn’t allow for the difference in weight between the bike and the scooter…..typical beginners error and nothing to be ashamed of. The most unfortunate thing was your injury, heal quickly.

Hi, i did advise you on getting the bike lowered. I personally would not ride a bike i can't flat foot. Plus only use the back brake on slow manoeuvres. Honda rebel would be a more suitable bike. Be safe and enjoy.

Thank you for the advise! We're working on it and she feels a lot more comfortable on it currently. I have never rode a bike I could flat foot and neither has she. (Even her Vespa) With proper training it's not a problem. Unfortunately we didn't go back through that training when she first got it. But we are doing it now. Thank you for caring and your comments, it's truly appreciated. That's what makes the motorcycle community so great!

Check out KZfaq videos from MC Rider, MotoJitsu and Ride Like A Pro with Jerry Palladino. Also Fort Nine, Canyon Chasers and Yamaha Champion Riding School, which when subscribed to, has "Champ U". Sample videos on KZfaq. I have a NC750X DCT and learned from these videos. Example: No way quicker to drop a MC, is to have handle bars turned and apply front brake. Slow maneuvers no less than 10mph, counter lean, etc. Good luck in your adventures and safe riding.

@@geeksonbikes Never realised until reading the comments section that the NC suffered from snatchy throttle. I never had that issue with my 2015 model (DCT) but I did not buy it new so possibly it had been back for a recall or it had been bedded in..For me, the two things that would transform the NC into the ultimate bike would be the addition of cruise control and shaft drive, although in fairness modern chains do not need anywhere near the adjustment of old chains...

Rubbish. Get back on the horse and enjoy one of the best bikes on the market. I traded down to the NC750x DCT from a 1200 Crosstourer DCT. Best thing I did. Crosstourer was so top heavy but loved the DCT so it was a natural choise. Oh and I'm 67 years old so was struggling maneuvering the VFR1200x into and out of the garage!
