Aba's point is weird. Parents make decisions out of "ignorance" all the time. Back in the my parents chose to buy me a war-type video game without never having even played a video game. It all turned out great in the end but they had no way of knowing what effects it would have on me in the long run(it was a big debate back in the day)
@AbaNPreach
@AbaNPreach 3 жыл бұрын
Which is kinda the point. Buying a war-type video game =/= the same mental impact of having millions of people possibly mock and pick you apart. We've seen what happens to child actors, even with their parents consent that environment is often toxic and a huge burden to their mental health. In the end parents should make the choice, but being a parent doesnt automatically make you competent enough to know what the consequences will be. Its why we have child labor laws, or laws against minors drinking etc etc. Its complicated.

I think I already see what’s going on, the girls she doesn’t like are considered feminine and girly girls and she seems like a tomboy. I used to be a tomboy with a complex where I had disdain for girly girls for a while and was intimidated by them,luckily I was an introvert and too shy to be vocal like Bahama girl but overtime I realized that I was just angry that I was different, not considered cool, was always the outsider, I never got the attention and it seemed like they had it so easy in life compared to my struggles. I would put them down in I’m my head in order to lift myself up. It took me embracing me for me and embracing others for who they are and realizing that everyone goes through things that I stopped feeling that way. This is just my opinion and may not be what’s going on at all but I see some of my younger self in Bahama girl.

Friendly reminder: not everyone who cries in situations like these is using it as manipulation. I literally cannot talk in front of a group about anything remotely emotional or even just personal without crying. I also cry when I’m particularly angry/frustrated. I actually don’t want people to feel bad for me and I feel really embarrassed/bad when it happens but I literally can’t control it. I’m learning now that it’s likely a maladaptive coping mechanism from growing up in an alcoholic home 🤷🏻‍♀️ (little plug for Crappy Childhood Fairy’s channel there) AND as I’ve been writing this, I’m realizing the crying kind of is a manipulation but (for me, at least) it’s never been a conscious one. But I don’t cry with my husband or close friends (if anything, I’m almost too unemotional) whom I’m not worried about impressing/performing for. Woah...I got some more digging to do. 🤯🤯🤯

What I would say though is that it’s okay to cry but you really should learn to control it because sometimes your emotions might trample all over someone else’s. Know when to shut it off and be there for others instead. For example if someone is telling you something that you did to hurt them and it doesn’t feel nice to hear and you want to cry, suck it up and be there for them; if you don’t think it’s true, question them some more and then explain why you think they’re wrong, if you know they’re right then suck it up and tell them you’re sorry. As someone who doesn’t really express his emotions as much as others (but still feels them) I often feel like because someone is crying or showing more emotions in any given situation, that their problems automatically take priority, and I especially get these vibes from the person displaying all of those emotions
@roserain7034
@roserain7034 3 жыл бұрын
@@tylerirwin2097 I agree with your point but sometimes it's realy hard to control it especially if they are talking to you directly, face to face. I haven't had a situation where someone told me I hurt them and I cried about it. I did, however, got people asking what's wrong with me and why I behave strangely. It hard to talk without getting choked up and frankly. I DO NOT WANT TO CRY. I personally hate it. I also don't want to make a scene and want to handle my own shit privately. I tried pinaching myself, bending my hands backwwards to stabilze my emotions through pain, I tried to use different thought process to stop myself, from violence towards myself or aspirational talk. Sometimes, I even look down or to a side, to cover my face so I can quickly mask it in. Sometimes the tears doesn't even spill but someone would say, "Why are you crying?" It sucks.
@tylerirwin2097
@tylerirwin2097 3 жыл бұрын
@@roserain7034 it sounds like you need to give your emotions less power in general. I think trying to control your tears through pain (or even inspirational thought) is the opposite way to go for you because that in itself is giving those emotions more power over you. Practice breathing exercises that calm you down and try to learn to just say “hey, this really isn’t that big a deal idk why I’m crying right now” to yourself. Maybe try picturing the most blank, emotionless, ‘resting-bitch-face’ expression you can (put it in a comedic context in your head because comedy cuts through emotions like butter) and see if that helps

The girl is clearly either super awkward or even autistic spectrum and these dudes just pulling up other people’s vids, making lazy content laughing at folks. She is clearly trying to go to the bahamas as a step on her way to getting into marine biology. I’m doing the same and work kinda close with a college scuba club and a big thing we do is fundraisers to to pay to take the students to who participated to where scuba work/certifications are done a lot LIKE THE BAHAMAS. That scuba group tends to take the students to the keys or Bonaire as their two main destinations to get experience, exposure, and connections to that industry and scuba certifications naturally are a huge boon in the field of marine biology because *where do you think field work in MARINE biology is done?* I’m super done with the channel’s lazy vids just laughing at folks in other videos. These are not what drew me here but it seems like mostly what they do. Wtf was this vapid content?

Being in gen-z, I've experienced how social media/the internet has influenced my life until now. And I observe the mentality of my peers. There's no way that constantly triggering the brain with dopamine every day for years is not affecting us SIGNIFICANTLY. For all the benefits of social discord and availability of information that the internet gives us, I can also testify to downsides and negative mental habit patterns.. just from personal experience. Deleted my instagram for 7 months now and my anxiety, depression, etc is at an all time low. Can't imagine how it would affect me if I was in the spotlight..

Yeah thats fair. When a couple of them said things like "well....its more than just what i said before, I have deeper issues." It seemed like they were thinking they needed to increase the others sympathy for their personal lives. (Im pretty sure that was the case.) Try to make it seem they needed the money more, while being very vague. What i dont know is if they genuinely have other sympathetic issues (that cash wont fix) or they were being vague because it wasnt true. Maybe after hearing Heathers story is when it donned on some of them neediness would be a factor in winning and they realized if they wanted to win the needed to make their lives sound worse. But yeah its possible any one of them were embellishing stories. Its a game after all.

@@jasonleejames_official Where I'm from...most people do not take public transit. Most people have to drive. That's why most kids in my state immediately take the driver's course and test to get their license. She specifically stated that her school does not send buses to where she lives. I'm assuming since she jumped straight to taking Ubers, there's also no public transit that fits what she needs (doesn't come often, the schedule doesn't match what she needs, etc) and it's probably not a reasonable distance/route for her to bike. She's also a minor so even if she got a job, there's a limit to the number of hours she can work compared to a college student. She might even have a job to fund her own transport and it quickly eats up whatever she earns. Since she said she is raising herself basically, if her parents aren't neglectful, they don't have the extra money to help her go to school (maybe she has siblings they have to prioritize as they're younger, we don't know). I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that she's privileged just because she said she takes Ubers to get where she needs to go. In reality, nowadays, a lot of people do that. Ride shares have helped people who can afford cars or cannot drive themselves for whatever reason, to go to the doctor, go to school, etc.

As for the eyelash extensions maybe she does them herself or maybe someone in her family does them for her. I think those are not the best examples of why she may or may not need the money.

@@joanbaczek2575 I mean if you actually research what you're doing and you understand your hair. Like I do my hair and have been for over 12 years and my hair looks like a professional did it - and that was a professional hairdresser who told me that. I'm not saying there are not people who mess it up - because there are a ton, youtube and tiktok is proof of that. But I feel like people act like bleaching your hair is the most difficult thing in the world when actually it isn't. Especially if you research well into what you're doing. In essence all types of bleach damage hair. You'll recieve damage getting it done professionally too. And sometimes professionals mess up your hair entirely. Also It feels less damaged when going to professionals because they have hair products that disguise the damage. And in terms of brassiness, you have to use toner which is like $10 or even less and then blue/purple toned shampoos which keep the brassiness away. Those can be bought or made. I've done both before. Eitherway I get what you're trying to say, but I respectfully disagree. Also, where I'm from an uber is cheaper than taking a taxi. So maybe it is different where you are from. I now live in the US and I still have to stand by uber being more convenient and cheaper to get around than a taxi or even driving at times.

If she had definitively said I’m a marine biology major or I got accepted in x program/internship and I’m trying to fundraise for my scuba certification or y expenses for said program I think it may have worked in her favor.
