Part of why working out is so hard is because form is really important
@SardikKadronas
@SardikKadronas Жыл бұрын
Yes and no, working out for strength and size is hard. You need to do complex motions to maximize your time. But it isn't impossible to get a lot of strength and size with easier cable and free weight motions that are simply more intuitive. You will never be Brian Shaw without deadlifting and squatting, but most of us won't be Brian anyway because we aren't a mountain of a man before ever touching a weight.
@AClaiderman
@AClaiderman 11 ай бұрын
@@SardikKadronasThis is pretty not the point. No one’s trying to look like Brian Shaw here. However a majority of these injuries that this doc is fixing, is caused from years of bad form. These people didn’t get injured trying to look like Brian Shaw. Just years of doing even bodyweight exercises with bad form can do it.

I had an issue like this. For years I was told it was tight muscles and possibly a pinched nerve from a collapsed disc. MRI didn’t reveal much. Got an Ultrasound and it showed a torn ligament in the SI joint s as well as a torn muscle. Got that fixed with Prolotherapy and haven’t felt this good in years! I say that because I went to chiropractors, even MDs and physical therapists that missed the torn ligament and misdiagnosed me. So be aware of the possibility that something is torn, and get an ultrasound to see it (MRI didn’t show it).

@@will123345 it was the doctor’s idea. He is specially trained in ultrasound and uses it while he’s injecting to get the exact spot. Also, he does other mobility tests where he pushes to see how lax a ligament or joint is. Prolotherapy, and PRP from what I can tell, works well when you have a doctor that knows what he’s doing with an ultrasound. Otherwise I’m not sure how they would know if they’re on target.

@@luckyelliott-black123 I believe it's about stacking your ribcage above your pelvis. It might feel like you're bending your spine, but most people over extend on squats anyway from my experience. If you do it right, you can have both a safe spine position and a stacked ribcage which will give you immense trunk support. Squat uni has a couple more shorts about this so search if you want a more in depth explanation. Hope this helps 👍.

Just an “inflamed MCL” that’s been “inflamed” for about 3 years now, but gets worse when doing any sort of squatting type movement. Gave me some exercises (which were moves I was literally already doing). I also had a personal trainer check my form and mobility on all movements I do and they are great. not in at least 98% of the time. @EffectivePhysioKingaroy Жыл бұрын
@@bebe1979 my friend, I am trying to help, not discuss or create animosity. Imaging does not help significantly to diagnose the cause of the pain, nor change the treatment. The studies with quality have shown it many times, and more than 5 clinical practice guidelines from different countries point towards the same. This is not my opinion, but the summary of evidence + 20 years of my experience. Many facts are established in back pain: - imaging lead to unnecessary and more expensive treatments, which are not superior to conservative treatment. conservative treatment is not only exercising but medication, acupuncture, muscle and joint treatment, exercises, advice, staying active, etc... - At least 90% of the cases of back pain are unspecific, which means, despite the findings on the imaging, the cause of the pain is not possible to be established. - The older we get, the more likely to have changes in our spine; people 20 yo can already have degenerative changes. - Most of the findings see in the exams come from genetics and age (the older, the more changes), not necessarily what we do in our life. - The severity of the findings is not correlated directly with feeling pain, not with the amount of pain felt. Mild changes can cause severe pain; severe changes can cause mild pain or not even hurt. - BUT, in a case like yours (which accounts for less than 5% of the cases - specific or diagnosable causes via exams), an exam is the difference between the right treatment, or doing surgery, or removing a cancer. But this is my point: if everyone will make MRI for having back pain, you will wait months to years to do the exam, as at least 80% of the billions of people worldwide have or will have back pain. So doing imaging for everyone is just impossible, expensive, and in the end wrong, as it lead to more wrong treatments. I hope it helps, all the best!

Brilliantly explained, wow! When I did medical massage I addressed most asymmetries like this with slow heavy work on the sacrotuberous ligaments, and it was a great shortcut/mobilizer-of-most-structures and unlocked things enough to give people great results with most issues I encountered ... but loads of my most complicated clients (I'm talking pelvic fractures, wicked scoliosis, hip replacements, lumbar fusions, etc ... I specialized in lumbar/pelvic and liked hard cases) would have really benefited from nuanced, targeted training like this. Most of them didn't really have access to good PT; I focused more on people with disabilities and chronic pain etc than on athletes, and as a group they're just less privileged of course, and also less likely to get PT referrals at all than those who are more athletic ... And those who did have PT generally weren't getting ANYTHING like this kind of care. I hope your work signals a paradigm shift in the PT world. It's such a cool and powerful scope of practice, but far too many patients only see the "yeah whatever do a bunch of xyz basic unguided repetitive exercise, I don't care that it hurts and I'm not going to watch" low-bar end of the care quality spectrum. I know most people in any healthcare field are there because we want to legitimately help others, and I can't speak to the factors affecting PT providers systemically (my work has shifted in other public health directions), but PT has such a bad rap among so many people and I would really love to see that change.

To be fair though, in a short video there's no way he can comb over what all was ruled out in examination/mobility testing, and a good physical exam will generally give indicators of the issues you describe, enough to determine when someone needs to be referred for other diagnostics, at least when the provider knows what to look out for.

I had a patellar strain to my right knee when I was 20. Then I slowly started noticing pain in my lower back, tightness in my legs when squatting, and lack of core strength, just like the video. At that age I didn’t have insurance, so i called a few physical therapist to first ask what their prices were and if they were taking patients. So I called a couple of them up, asked them if they could create a treatment plan for my knee pain, then ask for their bill prong plan. That was the best way to lower the bill. My physical therapist/coach was young, educated, and gave great treatment that was personally tailored to my recovery and amazing service. If you think you’re feeling pain on your shoulders, back, knees, or ankles to ask a physically therapist. Highly recommended
