I’m ash blonde who looks blonde in natural light and strawberry blonde in any artificial light with lots of natural highlights. People don’t understand this can be blonde too. Especially the greyish hue was a problem in my youth looking always a bit dirty when the hair was more lighter and less red. Now that I’m older I’m grateful since grey hair isn’t really noticeable yet. Since I’m highly allergic to hair dye I’m very happy my genes gave me this color.

Her makeup issue is that she is creating 2 focal points and they fight one another. Either drama on the eyes or drama on the lips and neutral on the secondary feature. She should chose which one she feels is her best feature or the feature she wants to captivate with and let the rest of the painting (her face) recede.

Letting it grow out I’ve also had hairdressers say it’s a dirty blonde and still blows my mind that I’m technically and always have been a natural blonde lol still can’t tell you it’s actual shade color though so I’d like to know as well

@@nataliarichter5494 Natural blonde tends to have many different tones/highlights. People often think that natural blonde is the blonde that you would get after bleach. I bet your blonde started to just gradually darken as you got older. Met a few blonde people naturally and you could tell immediately that their blonde is natural and who has blonde but after bleach. Don't worry about changing your hair tone tho it's natural throughout the years same with the texture. My hair used to get wavy naturally and i hated it so i used straightener for years. Now i wanted my waves back and it does not get as nicely wavy as it used to when i was for example 13 (I'm 22 now) wonder if it's possible to get your hair to a lighter tone naturally back tho. Bleach is always an option but it's gonna ruin the natural blonde.

I always try to explain that to people trying to go from a 1-2 and expect to be a 9-10 in one session, nope not gonna happen, it's all about patience and unfortunately dealing with the gross orangey brassy moments lol but it was definitely worth it and the patience did pay off, so I am glad your hair turned out nice and you took your time :)

She is a beautiful girl, but makeup is just too heavy: eyes are with thick liner and lashes, lips are also bright. In good makeup you doing only one thing bright and all the rest more natural. As a classic example Merlin Monroe: she had bright red lips, and eyes did not look so heavy and bright, but there were liner and lushes. It is proportions in makeup.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like she could have bleached it once, then neutralized the color. Honestly, she was starting to get a slight green undertone to her blue so I think diluted coral dye would have worked. I can see why the color names and levels are unhelpful to people doing home coloring. According to the actual color tube (Madison Reed), my current shade is a light golden brown, but it is a level 7. Box colors that are close matches to this shade are usually level 6. To me, my hair looks like a medium golden brown with some highlights. I don't think anyone would ever refer to me as a blonde. On my monitor, that dark blonde swatch you showed us looks darker than my hair! I agree about the makeup- the brightness overwhelms her delicate coloring. I think we all go through that phase, though.

But a level 6 in one brand can look the same as another brand's 5 or 7. You really have to do test strands if you change colors or want to find a good color starting out. It's not about people who don't know what dark blond hair is, is that's no company views it the same way. What one company calls dark blond, another calls medium brown, and another calls dark brown. Go look at books of swatches, and you'll see. The book he is using is just ONE of a million swatch books out there, all of whom see things differently. And I disagree with the book he is using. That is NOT dark blond, that is not even any kind of blond. It's medium brown, practically dark brown. Like he says, this is why you should bring a picture of the colour you want. Because no two swatch books or people see it the same way.
@sjb4280
@sjb4280 4 ай бұрын
That was absolutely not a medium brown swatch. I have bought many wigs over the years and medium brown is much darker. You are welcome to disagree with his book all you want, but I'm going to entrust that the hair dresser who immediately knew the problem and those that made the hair swatches have a tad bit more expertise when it comes to color. Even acknowledging that different brands can have different perspectives on color, both dark blond and medium blond are much darker than what the average person thinks it is, including her. This is evidenced even more so by the fact that she kept calling it BLACK on her hair which it also obviously was not. I do agree it's good to show the color you want and I bet if she did she would have brought a picture of a light or golden blond, which is not the dye color she bought.

I genuinely did not know a level 6 was still in the blonde family. I thought that was light brown and 7 was dark blonde. My natural hair is a level 8 but super ashy

yeahhhhhhhh from an insider - we dont think it makes sense either lol youd never describe someone whos a lvl 6 as "dark blonde" if you were trying to describe them to the police....

My hair is about lev 6 and I would consider it light brown. It has a brown/mocha/chocolate tint to it but it's not as dark as 5s. Blonde in my book looks differently, even when darker/ashier. It's so confusing and whoever came with this confusing classification must have been color blind. 🤷‍♀️ But I've seen some brands do refer to level 6 as light browns, which makes more sense.

That color he showed, to me, was NOT in the blonde region. That appeared medium brown to me. I think the various books out there at each salon have different views of what is considered blonde vs brown. This is why people get confused, and yes, bringing a picture or two is key in the end.

Only in North America is that brown “ Dark blonde”, coming from DK, that’s brown! I add lowlights to my very blonde hair, I use level 8 blonde, and that’s enough to give some depth to my otherwise level 10 blonde hair. Working in salons in Canada for years, I’m blown away, by the names of colours here! In Scandinavia that colour you showed on the chart will never EVER be considered “ dark blonde”, that’s a medium brown all day long lol :)

100% agree! It was a medium brown, NOT blonde in that book.

I have naturally light golden brown hair, and to this day blonde is the colour I've never achieved. I've been various reds, darker browns and even different shades of black, but I was terrified of bleach! In the end I tried it... and regretted it. My hair just couldn't deal with it, and I had some noodle hair for a while. I'm lucky it stayed on my head and is still there. Never again, blonde is taboo for me.

Ooo I have the same colour hair, and I've never dyed it in my life, the only thing I've ever done to it is put Sun In on it. Which is basically peroxide, I think. It works so good on my hair. In summer my hair is a pretty gold colour, but in winter it looks kind of drab to me, without the sunlight to highlight it naturally. So I just put some Sun In in it. Sun In is just a lightening spray. I think it's basically just peroxide. I don't know. All I know is that I spray it on, blast my hair with the hairdryer, and it looks the way it does in summer. But I've seen people make a mess of their hair with Sun In. It says right on the box that it's only for blondes or light brown hair. But people with dark brown hair will use it, and then end up with orange, when they were going for blond.

My hair is naturally a very dark brown and some years ago I actually successfully bleached it all platinum blonde so that I could put fun colors on it. Did some pink and purple and blue and eventually it remained blue. I did not attempt to keep bleaching my regrowth because I wanted the dark roots and I would just let my hair grow out and did not add any more colors to it. The slight tint of blue remained and I would just trim my hair every few months until eventually all the bleached/colored hair was gone and I was back to my virgin natural dark brown hair. I'd say if you color your hair blue, just be willing to live with it being blue until you cut it off. Not saying I didn't like the blue, I loved it. But even though I stopped coloring it, many many months later the blue was still there and I didn't want to try to cover it up, just cut it off bit by bit until it was gone.

I had blue hair for around 7 or 8 years. the only way to get blue out of your hair is to cut it out. took me a couple years of growing it and not touching it but eventually my roots got long enough that I could cut a cute mullet and there's pretty much no blue left except for one tiny area in the back. ppl if you wanna go blue understand you can never ever take it back edit to say: can you imagine how this poor person's hair feels? it looks like hay. it's so over processed and the follicles are blown right tf out. we've all been there 🤣🤣 edit again: I don't mean dying your hair blue one time. I mean having your hair blue and keeping it a BRIGHT BLUE (not blue on top of natural hair, not blue tint, BRIGHT BLUE) for an extended period of time. all these people coming into my comment and giving me a time they died their hair blue once and it came right out. honey that is not what I'm talking about lol

I did that with red. I'm a natural blonde and it took A LOT to bring me to red. I wore it for about a year. Once I decided to go back to blonde some of my length was permanently "pink". I just lived with it. It was too much to cut off. So, morale of the story...blondes beware of red also.

I've learned my lesson the hard way-when bleached, the color on top gets much darker, so if it is medium blond it turns dark brown. Go few shades lighter than your intended color, if covering bleached hair

I agree with him about the makeup. It was way over the top. Way too much eyeliner and blush. Don’t know why ppl wear so much blush these days- especially on the nose. Makes it look like you have a cold. I was taught that you’re supposed to wear makeup so that you look good, but in such a way that it doesn’t look like makeup. Like it’s supposed to look natural ya know

The hairdresser colors are soo confusing. I would consider my natural color light brown🟤, but apparently they're 'dark blonde'. To me, my hair looks brown. It has delicate brownish, chocolate'y/mocha tint to them, but it's not dark enough to be lev 5, it's also has some yellowish tint to them. I wonder who came up with this classification, since what most people see as light browns but are technically dark blondes, look much much different from what most people would consider blond.🤷‍♀️
