Күн бұрын

The plaintiff is taking his former landlord to court because he says she blames him for breaking the washing machine. He claims it was broken beforehand. He has since moved out and is suing for a refund on his rent. The defendant says the plaintiff overloaded the washer and agreed to pay for repairs, but he never did. She’s countersuing for rent owed and the cost of a new machine.

Right? I have a 30 yr old washing machine and it does that if the heavy stuff clumps up on one side. You have to rearrange the weight of the load evenly, then it finishes up just fine. The defendants just wanted an expensive new washing machine.

Sometimes it’s more cost effective to replace the machine than to repair it. When it comes to something like a washing machine, if the cost to replace with a new machine is only a few hundred dollars more than the cost to repair a machine that’s several years old, just go with the new machine.

When a washer is overloaded it thumps and jumps and rattles quite loudly. You stop it and redistribute the load. An eight year old washer may not be able to sustain that. Been there.

I had an eight year old washing machine as well, and that used to rock and vibrates so bad that I thought it was going to come down the steps in my kitchen. I took it to a appliance repair store and they fixed it for $89 by replacing a broken bolt underneath the washer tub and that's what this problem sounds like with this machine . The broken bolt is a cheap fix and it makes a noise when the machine is vibrating and sounds like a train going down the track at a high rate of speed because of the vibration and it is really quite scary. My point is just that the machine could've been fixed for less than $100 and to make this man tried to pay for a machine that he "broke quote is unreasonable because who knows what else other people have been putting into that washing machine. This lady landlord looks like she's a very intimidating person as well.

He came did what he could to adjust the drum and stated that a new machine was needed because it's a little rusted at the bottom and breaking away so the whole machine off balance. It worked for a while after we braced it up and now I'm back to square one. They called another repairman, he never came. Why do folks think that they can just stuff everything but the kitchen sink in a washing machine. It’s like the dish washer not everything will be cleaned evenly if that and with a fricking washing machine it’s not unusual on some models for there to be an imbalance.

It's quite common for a load to be lop-sided, and should be watched when certain things go into the spin cycle. An eight year old machine, used by multiple people, has often outlived its' life?

Modern machines know when it's not loaded evenly so stops spinning, the clothes flop back down and the machine starts to spin again, so her machine is a LOT older than 8 years old, my washing machine knows to stop and restart and it's 13 years old. And an 8 years old washer, if it's a cheap brand, is ready to die anyway, so there is no way it's his fault, unless she can prove negligence on his part, but she can't...

Duh: At the very least stop it and leave till morning, At least, why don't you all just go to bed.? It blows my mind that these people couldn’t put their heads together and figure out that the machine was most likely just unbalanced. All they probably needed to do was open up the washer lid and redistribute the clothing or whatever was in there. If for some reason it was actually broken then I think I would rather pay a couple hundred dollars to repair it then pay $800 for a new one. It sounds to me like she got the new one because she was thinking it would be on someone else’s tab. Also why do month to month renters think the landlord tenant laws don’t apply to them when they leave a place with no notice? This guy went in to this thinking he was owed just over $1200 and walked out having to pay $750. He should have just let it be.

Are you stuck on stupid...the damn washer was a front loader and clearly it was off balanced due to him overloading it with his whole wardrobe, blanket, towels all in one load...so yes the washer stopped working due to the belt breaking, the drum was broke which means it would have cost more to repair so we decided to replace the washer and now 2years later...new washer no roommates, no issues...problem solved...

I’ve had this happen to my washer. It was off balance because there were too many heavy items in it. There’s just a small part that needs to be replaced when that happens. My washer is over 10 years old and works perfectly now after replacing that small part to rebalance it.
