@@hairylilmangoseed1440 first she saw the 3rd prince and, knowing he could hear, told her son to not to cry at the funeral to look dependable in his father's eyes (a lie, cause they do have to cry to show that they're filial sons). secondly, she took her son to deliver a soup to his father but didn't insist on seeing him like the others sons could (thus showing that her son is respectful of his father's personal space) and lastly, she prompt her son to tell the emperor what he heard the 1st prince say, what made the emperor think that the 1st prince wants to be the crown prince to steal the throne (what works bc the emperor is mad paranoid about this) and then she told her son not to say things he eavesdrops, making the emperor think that her son is just too innocent for not understanding what he hears from others. hailan wanted to throw the 1st and erd prince under the bus bc she and ruyi overheard the 1st say that he thinks that ruyi only wanted him to get the empress seat (which is a lie bc she really loved him as a son) so he was going to use ruyi to get the crown prince seat and she wanted to make the 3rd prince and his mom to lose favor with the emperor bc that consort was next in line to be empress. hailan did this things to help ruyi be the empress and told her baby not to tell ruyi bc she knew ruyi would be mad at her for destroying the 1st prince chances bc ruyi really loved him even tho he was just using her as a stepping stone to get the throne...

she cleaned the path to ruyi AND made herself and her son look good in the eyes of the emperor she is very smart and sneaky when she wants

@Aishah Halim Consort Xian (Named as Ruyi in this series) and most of the other noble characters does exist in history, and some actions do really happen in history (such as the princess being married to a faraway place, Consort Xian cutting her hair etc), but stories relating to their personalities are mostly fake/altered in this story compared to history. For example there wasn’t anything bad about Consort Ling in history, and she was very favoured by the emperor. In this story, there wasn’t any empress after Ruyi (anything regarding the throne of the empress kinda ended with Ruyi’s death), but in the history, Consort Ling was made Imperial noble consort to manage the harem (which is kinda like the next in rank compared to the empress, but since there is no empress elected, you can consider Consort Ling as a half empress? Just that the title isn’t granted to her) As for who took the emperor’s place, it’s Yong Yan (Ling’s son),both in the story and in the history, since his remaining sons aren’t fit for the throne as much as Yong Yan is. Xian’s son wasn’t considered, as in the story Xian didn’t want him to be an emperor (wants her son to be free), and in the history he’s known as someone who’s very kind hearted and nice, but not very bright.
