Since Kim started flying with you I noticed how relaxed you are and the banter back and forth is great. So good to watch you show and help her learn how to fly you are so encouraging and positive. Thanks for these great videos.

It is noticeable that the pilotless is responsible, she does everything carefully. Even the door closed, and checked the reliability of the lock. And when the dispatcher speaks, she listens very carefully to him and executes commands, while immediately ceasing to communicate with her boyfriend. It's nice to see such work in the cockpit. I ordered a seat cushion with 13 fans in it from amazon. Plugs in to the cigarette lighter and draws 1.16amps! Helps tremendously here in key west!

All I can say is keep making her work. It will pay off in the long run. Stick time is stick time and all of it helps in the long run. Get Kim her new booster seat so she can be as comfortable as she possibly can be. It will mean less physical stress, and one less thing to contend with. Hope you two and all of your families have a Merry Christmas.

I always did left 360's better than turns to the right. Turns on a point will help Kim become more comfortable with her standard rate turns.

Absolutely this! Clear, concise comms. Once she gets used to all the phraseology and knows exactly what to say and when, I bet they're going to be fighting non-stop for that PTT button :)

That was awesome, Kim! Nice work!! Not only a takeoff, but radios too!! I figured as much! You'll be the ace of the class in a 172 after flying that. Great way to learn. I can relate in the motorcycle world - it's like starting off your first time riding on a Ninja ZX-7, then going to train on a Honda Rebel 250. Two completely different animals, but the basics are the same. Things happen much slower, so the basics you'll pick up quick, and they'll stick better. I have a feeling your flight training is going to be MUCH cheaper than mine! 😁👍👍 Also a great job, Kris, teaching Kim how to fly! Appreciate you sharing all of this with us. Hope you guys have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Prosperous New Year. 🍻

@@flyingsic - Ahh, didn't know you rode! Awesome! I still have my '74 Yamaha RD350 2-stroke twin I restored 9 years ago. Love that thing. I sold a Harley, and a giant 1900cc Roadliner and kept that one. :) I'm 5'4" and 160 lbs, so the RD is a MUCH better fit, lol. So much fun, and so "politically incorrect", especially where I live. :D You guys have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Prosperous New Year! 🍻

If reaching the controls is an issue Sporty's and other companies make a seat cushion thing that adds a couple of inches of height and a couple of inches behind the back to help shorter pilots. Also, Diamond planes like the DA20 and DA40 have adjustable rudder pedals.

yamilrx oh I’m terrified of the radio. Knowing what to repeat and what not to- If I say something I don’t have to or forget something. I feel like I’ve failed at life haha It just takes practice!

@@flyingsic No matter how many times he claims he's a terrible instructor, the video evidence indicates otherwise, both in the quality of his instruction, and in the corresponding quality of performance of his student! When he says that your performance in those 2 standard rate turns was better than anyone who has had zero "formal" training should ever be able to do, he's not lying. Quality instruction and an attentive student = positive results. And can we also talk about how, after he did the prop and cowl flaps adjustments (and you holding alt with sub-100' deviation, just sayin'!), you said "trim" before he reached for the trim wheel, and you said and pointed "up" before he said he was rolling it up. That is called UNDERSTANDING! Don't get that without quality instruction. Can't argue with the facts! +1 on Kris getting his CFI ticket!

It does seem like allot of focus in your videos now is on Kim flying, but wouldn’t it be better for her to be learning on single rather than this high performance twin as he has mentioned here. You really are an inspirational teacher also.
