Tyra telling on herself. In the real world a photographer wouldn't do that but on this show that's exactly what they do. If a model sasses back to them, they purposely choose a bad photo to punish them and say it was a bad model, not a bad photographer.

It depends on the photographer. While they have no proof, when they get a bad picture, some models believe the photographer or director doesn't like. You're right, they shouldn't do that, but some do.

Models in previous cycles: I didn't want to step on the toes of the photographer. Tyra: It's your job to speak up for yourself and advocate for you. They did this to April in cycle 2! April and Mercedes were posing together and trying to find what was comfortable for them, because they were posing naked together and it's their bodies and they should feel comfortable to have a shot that's not awkward, but they were saying April was trying to control everything and Mr. Jay was crying about "why am I even here" (which I'm sure we all ask every episode he's there)

Someone from production would ask something to the effect of, "Tell us something you don't like about X"; do this to a handful of them and you can now splice a short video in which they all seem to be attacking X. IRT the question of whether it's safe to ride a camel: They're thousands of lbs so they can hurt people by shoving them or laying on top of them (more likely if they're not used to people), but they're honestly not particularly aggressive. If they get irritated they might resort to biting (like when Alexandria was petting her) or swinging their head. Honestly, the camels in the ep seem p chill, so I think saying they're grumpy is just playing it up for the show. Also, standing on an adult camel shouldn't hurt them, they have all that squishy fat in their humps for padding, and they can carry over a thousand lbs. I'd honestly be more worried about the model falling off and hurting themselves lol
@yulana990
@yulana990 2 жыл бұрын
It's true that it won't hurt them, HOWEVER a lot of camels that get used for tourists are often under 4 or 5 years old, and when camels are ridden at such a young age it can seriously effective their growth. There are also some tourists spots (luckily not in the video) where they make camels walk on the normal roads, which have dirt all over them aswell as potential painful items like glass, which will hurt the camels a lot. But as you said, the camels in the video look fine (as long as they hopefully are not under 4.5 years old)

I used to work at a zoo that had camel rides! Camels are actually considered pack animals and riding them isn’t uncommon. One kind of good thing though is that they are notoriously short tempered animals. From what I’ve been told if they’re not being treated well camels will sometimes just straight refuse to work or move and because of their size there’s like nothing you can do so most places treat them well from my understanding. Edit: with how tiny those models are and the saddle they’re using,m standing on the camels really shouldn’t be much strain

okay sooooo i literally just rewatched all of cycle 16 so i could have a more informed opinion 😭 let me say 3 things: 1- for the first like half of the season, alexandria was too controlling and i understand why some of the girls didn't connect with her. especially when these are ppl you work with and live with and cant escape from. 2- alexandria may have her flaws, but the rest of the girls bullied her and were unusually cruel towards her. them ganging up on her to yell at her in front of the photo crew, them reading her diary behind her back, them constantly wishing she would go home simply because she annoyed them etc. etc.. the thing is, i can really understand both perspectives in this situation. alexandria was being controlling sometimes and also seemed to have a very contrived image. but i genuinely think she meant the best. i dont think anything was malicious on her part. as someone who had to grow up real quick too, i completely understand her behavior. and i understand why the girls may have been annoyed. but really, they could have gone about that about a million other better ways. lastly, 3- during the shoots towards the earlier half of the cycle, alexandria was genuinely overstepping her place at photoshoots and commercial filmings. but the example they used in this episode was such bullshit. she never once talked back. she was trying to form a connection with the photographer and speak on how passionate she is, but he just intentionally chose to be offended by the things she said. like literally, it felt like gaslighting. this cycle was very dramatic from top to bottom, but you can definitely see how these girls were sometimes judged very unfairly. okay, glad i just binge watched like 16 episodes in 24 hours so that i could write this one paragraph 🙃

I legitimately gasped along with you at Alexandria's photo. If I hadn't seen the shoot footage, I could have thought she was edited onto that camel. She looks relaxed, completely at home and utterly regal. That's SO powerful, the fact that she's doing nothing fancy (apart from STANDING ON A CAMEL) and she's giving us so much! Edit: ARGH! Even zooming in on her face she looks perfect. She's a Queen of the Desert, the tension in her face - to me - makes her look haughty and focused. You could build multiple stories around that demeanour, depending on what you wanted. Wasn't she supposed to be looking for water in the desert? She could be doing that, or if she was a powerful woman local to the area, she could be about to dispense some justice or judgement. Or she could be waiting for her husband to return from some journey. All of those could work, depending on what other pictures were in the story. The model doesn't put the editorial together (right?), but this picture gives a variety of good jumping-off points. I'm sure her face is more relaxed in other shots. She actually looks a little scary and beautiful at the same time. Isn't that what they claim "top modelling" is? Somebody who is versatile enough to give high-fashion and commercial? Yeah - judges, you are idiots. This is amazing. She's standing on a camel, Nigel, sod off with you moaning about her legs being however many inches too far apart. Get your head out of your backside. You try standing on a camel with your legs completely together and film it so we can laugh at you. Urgh, this is grotesque. She did so well.

Honestly, Alexandria was heavily criticized back in the day, not only the judges, but also the fandom, at the time, couldn't stand her because of how she was edited. She was unfairly misunderstood though, but was set up, at times I thought Jay sabotaged her with photographers tbh. However, I don't think she was as strong as Brittani, Molly and Hannah, they were amazing models. PS; Still waiting for Jessica to react to Cycle 3's episode 12 photoshoot, the way Ann was treated, during both the shoot and panel. Nowhere near as bad as Kelle's, but still really bad

Alexandria had determination and was very aware of everything on her body, I feel like the fact that she was older than the other girls was a factor to connect with them, also Brittani and Molly were so mean towards her, I really didn't like their attitudes I hope it was just for the sake of the show because they were so jelaous and hateful, Molly was just a depressive person on the show and Brittani seem like a mean high school girl, for me... every model on this show is a great model, all is depending on what the client wants, some girls are great for high fashion, others for commercial fashion and it's not bad 🤷🏻‍♀️

Girl you have to disect s5 photoshoots they made them wear corsets that dont let them breathe properly, next episode with the wild boys, then, 6 girls naked inside a phonebooth, next, judges are jerks to contestant Bre due to a missing granola bar!! Following episode they criticize Bre for taking medication for allergies, and doing bad in the photoshoot allegedly! Its charged with moments!!! Thank you for your ANTM content as well as the photography content Stay safe and Blessed Jessica

Oh dear god. Corests aren’t supposed to be uncomfortabl let alone make you stop breathing properly. They must have gotten those trash steel things and laced them way too tight. That’s dangerous.

I still love Alexandria and she was made to be the bad girl and Brittani was the good girl... I just wish Alexandria would do interviews and tell us her side... Also also - Alexandria's look has kinda inspired a lot of print /runway models of today... Stern face, attitude of directness, AKA fierceness...

Oliver Twixt tried to give her a platform, but she stood him up. I was so disappointed because I thought ANTM did her dirty and wanted her hear her side. Maybe someday she'll speak out.

I think Tyra's conspiracy theory that photographers will purposefully choose a bad picture to take petty revenge on a model they don't like is very telling to how ANTM works

Literally, you could totally tell that Alexandria did so well from the fact that the ANTM crew captured her posing like a freaking queen: She looked awesome on camera. "Doesn't look as model-y as the rest of us", my butt. I heard jealousy makes people ugly - but damn!

When you asked “can you ride a camel?”-it made me think of the Mitch Hedberg bit where he’s talking about people wanting him to be able to act and write scripts to be a comedian… “Ok you’re a cook, but can you farm?” - essentially “Ok you’re a model, but can you ride a camel???” 😂

A note on camels- they're hella sensitive to the moods of those around them, and if you're in a bad mood, or your vibe doesn't sit right with them, they let you know. So it makes sense if they weren't a fan of Mr. Jay, or the unprepared models who were just basically told camels are mean lol, I wouldn't vibe with that either

Also Alexandria grated my nerves on the show when I was younger but watching this back, they definitely made her the villain the whole season. All the other girls hated her and it really wasn't fair. Especially when there are newer seasons of girls that were just plain mean and they weren't demonized as bad as Alexandria. Also that photographer was a bit much in general. Lmfao just all around odd.

Animal enthusiast here: Camels are definitely not known for their winning personalities moreover though I would like to talk about people being on their backs. So, as I'm sure anyone can know, camels have been used for transportation of people and various goods for ages especially in desert environments. Just the same as pachyderms, and equines. However I would like to point something out: no animal is born with or has evolved to specifically carry anything on their backs. Like, evolution did not create an elephant while also taking into account that they might be supporting several hundred pounds in their lifetime in addition to their own body weight. Nor horses, mules, donkeys, camels or any other animal that man has tried to ride or use as a transportative vehicle. All that to say though, it's all about weight. So if I asked you to wear a backpack for 8 to 12 hours, could you do it? Yes of course, it might not be the most comfortable thing after a few hours but you could do it and it wouldn't cause you lasting damage. Now addition to the backpack, let's add a toddler and that's what you're toting around all day, suddenly you're back is going to be quite sore. How about instead of a toddler you are supporting a middle schooler on your back? A high schooler? A full-grown adult? See suddenly this becomes near impossible. It's all about weight. So with a camel, I don't believe that it would hurt the camel to have a model on top of him for 10 to 15 minutes, however with her moving around and posing and if the shoot takes longer than that, not to mention that they use the same camel for every single model, I bet that the camel just like any of us would get sore mildly irritated and feel slightly burdened by the weight. However I do not think it would damage the camel. Like I said earlier, these animals have been used for transportation of goods and people for hundreds of years, however they were not born to do these things and just because they're capable of it doesn't mean that they enjoy it. So the best we can do if we can continue to use them for these jobs, is to always bear in mind how much weight we are putting on their backs that they were never intended to carry by evolution standards. That's a very long-winded explanation but basically no, I don't think that they are hurting the camel, but yes over time that could really start to irritate the animal.
