I put an RTX 4080 Founders and a Ryzen 7800X3D into one of these with a Noctua NH-D12L with TWO fans in rear intake configuration locked at 700rpm. And two Noctua 120mm LS (low speed) variants as exhaust at the top of the case. Both set at a locked 1000rpm. Basically dead silent. I 100% sealed both side panels with vinyl adhesive sheet, so that air can only enter the bottom of the case, and air can only exit the top. One straight, efficient path. (Minor exceptions, the CPU draws air from the rear panel, and the Founders Edition GPU obviously exhausts some hot air out of the rear. Which is genius on Nvidia’s part. And which I believe is a tremendous benefit that the inside of the case never even sees that hot air straight off the GPU’s PCB. It just goes straight out the back the moment it is created). And the fact that the founders edition cards draw air exclusively from their underside matches perfectly with the case drawing in fresh air through the bottom. So that 4080 gets exclusively fresh air that just got pulled in the bottom. Half of the air gets blown past the 4080s PCB and shot directly out the back of the case, and the other half gets shot directly to the top exhaust fan and blasted out the top of the case immediately. So the CPU and GPU are both exclusively fed direct cold air. And hot air from both the GPU and from the CPU never touch any other components, and are both immediately ejected out of the top of the case. The efficient air path (and exceptional quality fans) is the reason why I can turn the fans down to extremely low RPMs and still get great temperatures. Also, the 7800X3D has record-breaking power efficiency, and the RTX 40-series generation also has exceptional power efficiency. And on top of that the 4080 has a ridiculously oversized cooler. All of these factors add up. The whole system doesn’t make a peep. Even when running Cyberpunk at 4k in path tracing overdrive mode, both the CPU and GPU stay at 60°C. Once again, the whole system is silent. You need to put your year touching the top exhaust to hear a faint breeze of air. And I only could have done this by standing on the shoulders of your experience. Thanks, my man.

For anyone wondering, I was able to fit an arctic cooling liquid freezer ii 280mm on the side panel with an asus rog crosshair 8 impact. It required me taking the top case bracket off temporarily so I could flex the rear of the chassis a bit so I could install the radiator and bracket on the side. I also installed fan grills to keep tubing out of the blades. Works great, but does make shaping components a pain

coming back to this video after building in the nr200, the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 fits however it does scrape on the way in and you'll have to unscrew one of the posts to get it in. very difficult to route the tubing as it's very stiff but you can use zipties to hold them in specific spots. yes you can fit both top fans in even with this thick aio

About the Noctua U12A, I suggest doing your research on whether it works with your particular motherboard model. With my Gigabyte X570 I, the vented side panel does not close perfectly but stays on just fine. You may need smaller motherboard standoffs or bending the motherboard frame slightly to make this big cooler fit without issue. Different specimens of the U12A can apparently have slight variance in the length of the heatpipes poking out the top and this can cause the problem and the same goes to the placement of the CPU socket as that will have some effect on where the cooler sits.

Just thought to pop in here to thank you for your informative channel... I've been running an optimized airflow build for my NR200P (APU only, air cooled) without a hitch for almost two years! I'm a big fan (lol) of the rear exhaust config, since it benefits from the panel meshing and lowers dust ingress. Might need to change to intake when I finally get a decent GPU at acceptable price, though. ;-)

I have only 2x 120 mm bottom intake fans, cut out the mesh (greatly reduced turbulence and noise) and use only the dust filter in that position. Cooler master 212 with push pull config, airflow towards the back. Psu intake to through the front wall (cut a hole into the front channel) this pulls cool air straight from the bottom fans. Undervolted RTX 3080 and i5 12400f. This has to be the most silent yet the coolest running pc I've ever had. Great case. Super happy.

Quick note about the bottom mounted AIO setup. I have a Deepcool 280mm AIO bottom mounted in a NR200P and have to say that a bottom mounted AIO (vert. mounted GPU) makes things so much easier if you need to gain access to the mobo. When the AIO was mounted to the side bracket, I had to remove both the AIO and, and even the GPU in order to reach the mobo (not easy to do with a 280mm radiator), whereas now all I have to do is remove the GPU and immediately have access to the RAM/M.2 slots without having to even touch the AIO. Great video btw!

Finally did a custom loop in the NR200. Dual 240mm is very doable without any modding. Top radiator has to be the Hanjang 17mm with a set of 15mm fans. Bottom rad depends on how thick the gpu block is. My setup is 5900x barrow pump block+ 3080 Vision with byski block, 240x17mm Hanjang radiator, 240x22mm XSPC radiator, all rad fans are slim P12s, and side intake are 2 regular P12s.

Did two top exhaust 120s, Noctua ud9s cooler in push-pull exhausting out the rear, a side 120 fan attached to bracket bringing in fresh air for the cpu and helping blowing more air over motherboard components, and a deshrouded 6800xt with two noctua u12a fans strapped on, exhausting out the bottom. You can flip the fans as intakes, makes a few degrees difference but really heats up the internals of the case.

I just want to add that, at least in Germany, Noctua often sells returned fans as used for 5-12 € off on Amazon. So you can get the fans with official warranty for a lot less money. I feel that makes getting Noctua fans that much more cost effective. Seems to not be the case in America, or maybe there are none on offer right now. But it may be worth a look.

i love this case and i don't want to update my 5900x anytime soon and my RAM is good. The only option i would considerr updating is from this AIO b/c it's starting to gargle water and make noise nonstop b/c it's not the optimal tubing formation, it's sideways rather than above the pump. The other thing i would consider updating is the GPU. Maybe not the 4090 but if the 5090 is compatible and a beast in the future i'd really consider updating it as long as it fits the NR200.

@@jhellier my guess is they go with a standard voltage at which they can ensure all cards they make will work. As is the case with overclocking too, some chips just are not good undervolters and will crash easily, while others will do better, it's basically lottery at that point. There's easy undervolting guides for GPUs that can tell you what voltage seems safe for your specific card, it literally takes like 5 minutes to do and if it fails you can just revert it and no harm is done. It's worth a try.

Have you considered covering the SAMA IM02? It's sorta like an NR200 clone but mATX sized (and cheap).

Great video and quick to the point :) Does anyone know if I'll encounter problems with a Sapphire 6700xt Pulse and bottom fans?

The past two years I’ve gone through about 7 SFF cases including the T1 yet I’m currently using my nr200 again. At least until the Dan C4 drops

Currently got bottom -top flow and an NH-C14S on CPU, also got the 92 mm back side fan set as intake. So far performs great, but I’m not sure if the back fan isn’t causing any turbulence or interfering with C14S in other way? Got any insight on that?

I really wanted to build in it but i ultimately chose the 4000x airflow because it was my first PC build and i was a little afraid to go with a sffpc build. I regret this decision a little because the nr200 build would have been cheaper and i could use the extra space on the desk. Well maybe next time...

You can fit a 120mm fan whre the 92mm mounting is, I have it installed with 2 screws and on the other part is resting on the mobo plastic io cover.

So all things considered, what is the suggested setup between tower and topdown air coolers? I'm planning to build a 12600k + 3060ti Founders, and can't decide between a big shuriken or something like the fluma2

I’m a bit late to the video but I was wondering about adding the 2 bottom intake fans exactly like your set up with the 3080. Do you think adding the bottom fans so close to the GPU would produce better thermals?

I've watched most of your NR200, NR200P max build and review. but haven't see any hyte revolt 3 build in your videos. Is it a bad case for any build? Just curious if noctua c14s can fit on it.

Hi, you make really insightful videos. I have one question and I'd like your view. Between Lianli TU150 + Noctua NH-D15 and nr200 + Noctua NH-U12A which one provides the optimal cooling for 5900x / i5 13600k including a 3080 rtx. Would the latter be enough (cooling / noise wise) for rendering (arnold, vray etc) and games? thanks in advance
@MachinesMore
@MachinesMore Жыл бұрын
Cheers. NR200 has much better ventilation and airflow due to the use of two top exhaust fans. The U12A is not too far behind the D15 in open air testing anyway, so the airflow in the NR200 more than makes up for it.

Would you still recommend the Cooler Master MA612 Stealth? I have the NR200 and am planning to upgrade my 3600x to a 5800x3d paired with a 6800xt gpu. haven't seen a lot of reviews about the Coolermaster cooler aside from your previous video in 2021, which has it perform comparable to the U12A. My concern is the compatibility with the case. Any issues with clearance etc?

have you tested the temperature on the veritical GPU with glass panel on top radiator setup? I'm quite curious if that will choke the GPU.

Maybe a dumb question but where do you connect the cables from the 2 bottom fans if you're already using the chassis fan header for the top fans? My motherboard only has 1 header for CPU fan and 1 header for chassis fan.

Got this case for a year and a half with the following cooling configuration : - 2 top exhaust Arctic P12PWM - 1 280 Arctic AIO Side Intake (on a 5800X) tight fit but works - 2 bot intake Arctic P12PWM (cooling the deshrouded 3080Ti in direct contact with the radiator) Temps are a bit "high" in load (85-90°C GPU and 75-85°C CPU depending on the games) but it's ok for me because the pc is silent anyway. I could get around 10° lower temps by putting the fans 100% (Arctic does not have the fastest fans btw, so faster fans can get even lower temps if you get them at 100%, but ofc much more noise)
@Takashita_Sukakoki

You could try the AIO as exhaust, and it should benefit GPU thermals, seeing as GPU thermals will directly affect GPU clock speeds.

would the fan under the heat sink for top down coolers be configured to pull air towards the motherboard as well? so the side panel fan and the heatsink fan both move air in the same direction?
