It will be interesting to see how he does with the Leafs. He's coming off four seasons as coach of the AHL Marlies. He actually led them to the playoffs in each year he coached them. Three of them saw the Marlies reach the league Eastern Conference final three times, and also a Calder Cup win as league champions in 2017-2018. Hopefully success at that level will eventually translate into NHL success.

This guy was the coach from the beginning. He's been behind the scenes developing our young guys and half of the guys on our team now. I think some fans are failing to see what happened here but this has been in the works for some time. Glad it finally happened, looking forward to games again. GLG!

When Keefe was coaching in the Soo, his focus seemed solely on the performance of his team, not the opponent. If they won 7-2, his post-game comments were about what they could've done better. How the other team performed was never mentioned. Keefe always set the bar high. A very demanding coach. Very NIck Saban-like in talking about process versus results.

Welcome Sheldon Keefe. You are hungry for success at this level. Teach that to the young core.

I think it would be great if these press conference videos would display the questions being asked in subtitles. Because the reporters don't have the same mic access you have to turn the volume up far too high to follow along. This happens in every single one of these videos, turning it up to hear Paul Hendrick only to have the coach scream through my phone/laptop.

I lost a lot of respect for Babcock when he sat out Spezza on opening night. Hopefully now Jason will get the chance he deserves. Also, I hope Matthews gets more ice time now. Keefe's teams usually play with grit. Hopefully that means Harpur will get a chance in the lineup (yeah, I know they don't want to sit Ceci for what they're paying him, but here's hoping).

Babcock didn't know how to develop those kids - doesn't agree with the Dubas mixture or philosophy. Give these two some time! They are absolutely on the same page and i think we will see something very very special here. My bet is these guys will absolutely succeed. Do NOT forget the look on Matthews face after the game last night. Sheldon also knows how to get the most out of his players without demoralizing them. The coaching change may be a positive. But no team goes far without two good goal tenders. Dubas has a dubious record in assessing that position. Putting Curtis M. on waivers and keeping Sparks turned out to be a mistake. Then came Hutchinson. And he didn't last. The latest call up has had a rough ride to date . So we will see. But the season seems to be riding on a good selection in that position. And the Leafs have no salary cap to work with.
