Really proud of how much Sheldon has grown as a person... I know a lot of what made the earlier seasons fun was his quirks and his unwillingness to bend to others, but this really makes me happy. Watching Sheldon's character evolve and mature while maintaining a lot of the original traits is just heart warming

Apart from this scene being pure good in a comedy sense, it’s also amazing because it shows how much Sheldon has grown and how much he is ready to step out of his comfort zone for Amy. I loved weird Sheldon in the first seasons, but I love this emotional and humane Sheldon much more

Raj Kumar It’s not just Sheldon lots of people with Autism, including me, go through things like that. I only feel comfortable engaging physical contact in several people and even then I don’t like it.

John Petrinolis exactly, it's not only Sheldon. I'm experienced special education teacher, and since I started that show, I can't stop the feeling that Sheldon just have Asperger syndrome or Autism. How is that, that no one never diagnosed him in his whole life?

Have you attempted to use high amounts of caffeine to accelerate the rate at which your mind processes repeat stimuli, in order to counteract the low latent inhibition overwhelming your brain, making interaction with the world difficult? There are two solutions: One is to inhibit or suppress the excess stimuli via medication; such as THC (not recommended, because while suppressing stimuli, it doesn't decrease the tunnel vision, it actually makes it worse), or Amphetamines (aderall/ritilin) The second, is increasing the activity of certain neurotransmitters changing connections between synapses, which currently cause you to see deeper into a narrow path and get extreme tunnel vision, and to instead process the whole thing. You can do this via exercise (endorphins) and caffeine (dopamine+serotonin) Having an increase in these neurotransmitters would cause a decrease in the neurotransmitter norepinephrine, which would do two things- one, inhibit stress; and two, make engaging in physical contact less uncomfortable. (ensure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals as well)- vital for proper brain function. I used to have severe social problems as well, and people made me extremely uncomfortable. However, implementing these changes will make your environment seem smaller, or to rephrase, make you feel bigger within your environment.

When I watched the pilot, I initially thought Leonard was the leading man of the show. My mind changed when that episode ended. There is no leading man in TBBT. There is, though, a 'center'. And that center is Sheldon.
