Lots of you have requested this one, so here you have Yorick's story.
Quick rant time
There's two moments in this video where I fucked up the audio a bit, but my editing skills are not good enough to fix it. If I wasn't such a perfectionist I would have uploaded this video weeks ago, instead I've wasted time feeling ashamed about it - so then today I thought "you know what, fuck it". I'm just gonna upload this and be happy about it, everything doesn't need to be perfect. Time to face my fear, or something. idk.
Aight, rant over.

(note for Just Another Nobody): thanks for doing Yorick! he's my favorite champion and I even main him top lane. Anyways here's Yorick Mori's lore summarized and a TL;DR at the end Yorick was born on the Blessed Isles, which were the Shadow Isles before the Ruination, and he had a mysterious power to see ghosts. Yorick was scared of these ghosts at first, but soon realized they were only trying to find a way to get to the Beyond, as Yorick calls it, or the Afterlife. After Yorick found out that these spirits only wanted help, he started helping them, it was a bittersweet task though because Yorick made new friends but he also never saw them again. Yorick was bullied a lot because everyone thought he was crazy for seeing ghosts and didn't have many friends. Eventually word about Yorick got out to the Brethren of The Dusk who were a religious group of Monks who were recruiting people to join them, and Yorick was the perfect person. Yorick was convinced and went to their monastery. When Yorick got to the monastery he was given a shovel and an amulet filled with the Tears of Life which came from the Blessed Isles sacred spring. Yorick was having a hard time making friends though, just like he did back home, the other Monks were envious of Yorick, since he was born with a gift to see the dead and they had to work for it for years or decades even. One day, as Yorick was tending to the cemetery, and saw a massive cloud of black mist coming towards him, this Mist was worse than anyone could ever imagine, every living thing that was in it's way was devoured by the mist and Yorick even saw people's souls being crudely ripped from their bodies after the Mist started to tell his fellow Monks to take the vial off their neck and join the lost souls in eternity. When the Mist finally reached Yorick it was telling him to take the vial from his neck, but Yorick refused and blacked out. Yorick didn't know how long he'd blacked out, but he saw that he was the only living thing in miles, he would soon learn he was the only living thing on the Isles. The Mist tried to take Yorick by force but it proved futile, instead it wrapped itself around his neck and made a cape of Black Mist on his back made of souls. Yorick found that he could now raise the dead and command them, he also figured out he could summon the Maiden of the Mist, who may or may not be the Ruined Queen. Yorick soon figured out that the Mist came from the Ruined King, he vowed to kill the King and as he would put it 'put the Isles to rest'. *TL;DR:* Yorick can see ghosts and helps them get to the Afterlife. Yorick gets recruited by Monks, Black Mist comes and Yorick figures out he can raise the dead. Yorick also figures out that the Ruined King is responsible for the Ruination fun facts 1. Yorick's last name is Mori 2. Mori is short for the Latin term '_memento mori_' which means "be mindful of death" but Mori by itself just means death, so technically if his name was translated it would be Yorick Death. 3. That voice at the beginning that says "Yorick, look what you've become" is definitely the Maiden of The Mist taunting him The Ruination: When the Black Mist was released and turned the Blessed Isles into the Shadow Isles Yorick lore: universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/champion/yorick/ Ruined King shortened lore for those who're interested The Ruined King's wife got poisoned with no known cure and he's so full of grief that he sends Kalista (she used to work for the Ruined King and so did Hecarim) to find a cure for the poison. Months of travelling later she finds the Blessed Isles and talks to some Monks who tell her about the healing properties of the sacred spring. Kalista travels back to the kingdom only to find out that the Ruined King is locked in his tower because his wife died. He asked Kalista if he found a cure for death instead and she said no. The Ruined King was mad with grief at this point so he sent Kalista to jail for treason. Hecarim comes in and convinces her to tell the King about what she found. The King, Hecarim, Kalista and some other soldiers go to the Isles and the King demands they revive his queen. They say no because that would mess up the natural order so he orders Kalista to kill them. Before I tell you what happens next you should know that Hecarim was always jealous of Kalista because she held a higher rank than him. Kalista refuses and Hecarim stabs her through her back, the other soldiers follow what Hecarim did. The last sight Kalista sees before she dies is slaughter. Hecarim, the King and the soldiers press on and get to the sacred spring. Ruined King casts a spell to revive his wife but she begs for the release of death again, he tries to bind their souls but some artifacts underground empower it and he creates the Black Mist by accident. Kalista wakes up, Hecarim gets swallowed by the Mist and his body is combined with his horse and we don't know anything else that happened to the Ruined King and his Queen, the only thing we know is that a huge explosion releasing the Black Mist followed and started the Ruination.

@@berkgulec5819 he can. Aatrox has destroyed a star constelation in his fight against Pantheon. He even destroyed the concept of War itself. He literally 1 taps Mord and erases his being from history. Zoe does the exact same thing, she can also snipe his ass by teleporting very far away from Runeterra somewhere in space and throw stars and black holes at him.

Yes, it does. This is confusing though for one reason. Yorick actually wants to die, he's been through worse than hell and he's always tormented by souls yelling at him to remove his amulet containing the only thing keeping the mist from getting him the Tears of Life. What makes this confusing, though, is that Kindred are two things for a reason, if the person dead accepts their death then Lamb will end it for them quickly. If they don't want to go yet, though Wolf will chase them and force them into the Realm of Death. This doesn't make sense because Yorick would most likely accept his death and go with Lamb.

@@jsc1jake512 i think it is because he is resisting death hence the wolf. Even though he wants to die, he still have a job to do. He is trying to get rid of the black mist and the only reason he is alive is the vial of holy water necklace. He suppose to die a long time ago. It doesnt matter if he wants death, he is resisting it atm. If i recall his lore correctly. Havnt read his lore in a long time.

The things I love about Yorick's story are the facts that he is one of the few inhabitants of the Shadow Isles that isn't completely morphed or corrupted by the Black Mist and still has memories of when it was the Blessed Isles. While he is fighting to keep it at bay and eventually put an end to it, he is constantly tempted, tormented, and mocked by it in the form of the Maiden. It's an interesting take on what could easily have been just a stereotypical necromancer character.

Who they see doesnt have anything to do how they die. Its their attitude towards death that counts. If their soul accepts death/embraces it, they see lamb. If they try to run away from it/fear it/try to circumvent it, they see wolf. So in the case of suicide it depends, but most likely it would be lamb, when they are at peace with their decision.

Not exactly. Seeing Lamb or Wolf isn’t due to your life, it’s because of how you face death. A saint who lived a peaceful life could see Wolf is they try to resist, and the worst murderer in the world would see Lamb if they accept their death.

I don't know why, but something about the exchange at 2:03 just got to me! Yorick's response is so simple and honest. He doesn't try to deny the maiden's statement or give some grand speech about bravery and perseverance, he simply maintains that "there is some" hope left. Not much, but some.

@@HandsomeGamerGuy Yes it would but since he's been such a big plot hole in lore ever since Yorick's rework (which came out in 2016 or 2017) I'm thinking they want to give it something special. Also there have been theories that the Maiden of The Mist or Yorick's ult, is the Ruined King's wife, I don't really know what to make of that though.

@@jsc1jake512 It would be the most fitting theory. Since the King used Magic to bind her Soul, which as you said got enhanced by something beneath the Monks Abbey? So that would make sense.

@@HandsomeGamerGuy Yeah, underneath where the King performed the ritual was a vault where the Monks kept the most dangerous magical artifacts. Before the Mordekaiser rework, Morde's skull was also in that vault, it might still be canon because of Sahn-Uzal, but I doubt it because Mordekaiser's mortal life as Sahn-Uzal was a life of war and conquest, it doesn't mention anything about him using magic.

Aatrox is a PTSD soldier gone suicidal that unfortunately believes the best answer is to take all with him if it means to end. Yorick suffers from severe depression, self-victimizing over his curse, to be slaved to his newfound cause by locking him away from death.

Lets pay out respect to dear forgotten yorick the hero the lore of league deserved for the sentinels of light event. I shall be eternally salty about that. Tell you what they should have done they could have had senna and Lucien corner Viego after finally breaking through the army's of the black mist only to find out that Viego is in a completely different level of power and there was no way for the sentinels to stop the ruined king. It would be at this moment where Maokai and Yorick would join the fight effectively taking the lead now that the sentinels have cleared a path through the blackmist directly to viego. Yorick seals Viego away possibly with a last minute interference from Kalista preventing Viego from making a comeback. Yorick gets to have his final rest, Maokai works on restoring the blessed isle and Thresh becomes the unbound (minus the ghost abs). And NOW the sentinels of light can shine because while the source was stopped thresh is still on the run. The same fiend that tormented Lucien and Senna for so long. So you can make a second sentinels of light event that's about stopping the black mist for good, now under threshes control. And while tresh is still powerful he does not compare to Viego so Lucien and Senna have a realistic chance of stopping him and hey maybe this is where we can add Akshan and everyone else we were supose to care about. I have made this string of events up in 20 minutes and while you can discuss the details its absolutely a step up to FREAKING akshan replacing Yorick and showing him aside. Unbelievable.

This champion honestly gives all the satisfaction what you would expect from champion: The design is great, his voice lines are great and the lore *chef's kiss* Perfect. I feel bad for the fact he is so unappreciated in the community.

Haven't played Yorick that much so I never heard all of his quotes, but now when it's all put together like this, must say that he's also one well crafted champion

@@lovrobarbir1273 I like Aatrox, I mained him for a while top lane shortly after the rework and he's one of my favorite characters, my pic is just a close up on Aatrox's ult World Ender. I don't play Aatrox anymore though, I agree that he's a good champion even right now, but I can't get the hang of him ever since they removed the revive.

@@jsc1jake512 OMG like you read my mind... New Aatrox is fun to play but, as you said, removing revive on his ult is total sin that Riot have done. It was his identity, so fun when you fill whole bloodwell or get kills, really gave that feeling "fight until last dying breath"

It's interesting that Yorick wants to die but he refuses to do so as long as the blessed waters allows him because he doesn't want to become part of the mist. Rather he communicates and controls the mist walkers somewhat as a means to stop the curse on the isles, through his own personal curse of being able to speak with the dead. Then once the Isles have been cleansed he will finally get to rest. He is 1000 years old and has been living surrounded by the mist for around 975 of those depending on how old he was when Viego (and the ruination) came. TL;DR - Once Yorick bonks Viego hard enough in the head he'll lay down his shovel and go to sleep.

Yorick is a great one that seldom been noticed even by lore-knower cuz his low appearance in story how can a person be so quiet, self-knowing, endurable, patient, staunch and kind in heart after living almost hopeless and lonely so many thousand years? how strong-willed should he be to carry all of these but more agony souls? and yet, he is still going and fighting for the once blessed isles, for every soul and life that in need to the very end till that, Yorick shall keep digging, with his tired but coriaceous arms

Wow, your videos are always fantastic, it seems strange but I like to listen to them while I go around or shower. They are really well made and beautiful, my favourites are Pantheon and Aatrox, but I enjoy and listen all of them. Also some of them gave me skme ideas that I included in my D&D campaing, keep up the good work!
