Fiddlesticks lore and TL;DR version in case you didn’t understand the quotes Fiddlesticks is very old, possibly older or the same age as Aurelion Sol. It’s said that Fiddlesticks was made during the “first scream of creation” and is described as a “demon before demons were known.” There’s a story about a young Mage in a tower by the sea that was messing around with dark magics, it’s said that he summoned something into the world that was older than history and was darker than the night and just like that the tower, the thing and the mage were lost to time. It’s not known for sure whether Fiddlesticks got to Runeterra through the mage in the tower or some other way but cultures around Runeterra have different ways of seeing Fiddlesticks. In Freljord, Fiddlesticks is a monster that raises itself from the ice made of helmets, bucklers, furs and wood. In Bilgewater, Fiddlesticks is only referred to as something that’s alone on an island that no one has come back from. In Targon there is a story about a child of twilight (Zoe) who “stole the only joy from a ragged, whispering horror.” this one can be explained, demons are a strange thing, we don’t know how the other demons got into the Physical Realm from the Spirit Realm but we can take Evelynn as a guess for how all demons get into the world. Evelynn was once a tiny shapeless thing in the Physical Realm until the Rune Wars where it took a physical form to feed on agony, the “ragged, whispering horror” could possibly be an example of that. In Noxus the veterans tell a story about farmhand who was blamed for a famine and fed to the crows (this is a reference to Fiddlesticks’ old lore). In Demacia, recently at least, they just blame the mages. In the new demonology tree we can also see that Fear is on top with others being below spreading into other branches of emotions, because that’s what demons do, they feed on human emotions. We can see Fear on top of the picture and two other main branches next to it that are unknown as of yet (link to demonology picture below). Of course Fiddlesticks was purely imagination… Until recently with the Demacian civil war with mages, something has awaken. It’s said that Fiddlesticks is such a dark being that it defies most of magical knowledge and that even the animals fear it. In the farming lands of Demacia however another story has resurfaced, that Fiddlesticks is an evil with no form, thoughts, or understanding of Runeterra. The “Child of Twilight” in the Targonian story of Fiddlesticks is Zoe and that story might actually be canon. The reason it might be canon is because someone who worked for Riot confirmed that Zoe has stolen a key from another champion and Fiddlesticks has keys around his neck. 2. Fiddlesticks is trying to learn how humans sound so he can trick them easier, that’s why he has animal sounds in his voice lines. 3. The most likely theory of how Fiddlesticks got his name is from his first victim’s last words Fiddlesticks. For some context the word “Fiddlesticks” was basically an old timey way of saying ‘oh s**t.’ 4. We finally got a reveal of what Swain’s knowledge demon is named, or at least a likely guess, his name is Raum (pronunciation: rah-oom), we know this because in his interactions Fiddlesticks calls the demons by their names, like for example when he sees Nocturne he simply just says “Nocturne” the same is with all other demons, I don’t think it’s been confirmed yet on second thought, but it’s a likely guess. 5. Fiddlesticks has a line saying “Fiddlesticks, end of men, Fiddlesticks, first of ten!” and there’s a theory that there are 9 others just like Fiddlesticks with Fiddlesticks obviously being the 1st, kind of like the Darkin, there are 5 left but we only know of 3 (4th Darkin is mentioned in lore only as “the sister” by Varus) 6. You may have noticed how I mention Evelynn and Fiddlesticks as “it” and that’s because demons don’t technically have a gender, Evelynn has had many different physical forms that it has shaped to feed off of humans, so the current Evelynn is only it’s physical form. 7. Fiddlesticks has voice lines about other champions too, like from Yone (Yasuo’s brother) when Yasuo killed him. He said “brother, how could you betray us?” and Fiddlesticks has that line and also has lines similar to those from other events in lore like from Annie he says “Annie, don’t let go” which was said by Annie’s step-sister. So either Fiddlesticks was there during those events or Riot is just trying to make the voice lines more interesting. 8. In Fiddlesticks’ short story “Voices” the man telling the story said “there’s a bottom to bad, and what happened in Goldweald (town the story takes place) broke right past it. Don’t believe me? I love how even though he just mimicks his victims, he sounds like he has some form of emotion. "Fiddlesticks is just a fable!? A story to scare children!? Once upon a time! Once upon a time!" He sounded so indignant an angry and seemed to tell a story with the victims' vocals to show that no, he was not a story and that he was very real.

These relatively short voice lines tell such a terrifying story. You can imagine what actually imagine what sort of hell happened to them...

He's 10 times more terrifying when his voice all of a sudden loses the whistle and gets super deep and serious

I didn’t realise how terrifying his voice lines were. Many of them seem to be from people that he’s chased and killed, and how he just mimics it and overall, it’s just spine chilling. Riot did an amazing job

I’m a bit creeped out by the ending quite. “Lamb, tell me a story.” Wolf and the Lamb? Where did it hear that? Does it know what they fear? Does this thing know what death itself fears? So many possibilities.

I love how well such short phrases work. Most people recognize the "help me" from the trailer. Sure, it's easy to understand that it's imitating people to lure or scare others... But what I find remarkable it's how connecting the "help me" with the trailer stimulates our imagination. How we interpret what he says, each person coming up with a different horrifying tale for each little sentence. "It knows what we are afraid of". Fiddlesticks hasn't a word of his own in all his lines. And, yet, he has more to say than any other champion in the game.

It's honestly amazing how they got one of the funniest characters in the game to become one of the creepiest. Amazing job with the video.

"Brother...please dont hate me" I can immagine that person leaving his brother to be devoured by the creature, just to buy himself a few precious seconds. Guess those few precious seconds where filled with regret, fear and guilt before the creature took the rest of his time.

I swear they need to make a animated series with at least one episode where it focuses on each champion. Fiddlesticks would be amazing

I love how when he's imitating 'brother, open the door!' you can hear pounding in the background. Might just be the drums from the music but it lined up so well, like he just mimic'd the whole noise instead of just the voice. Also the way you can occasionally make out what the victim must've sounded like under the demented fiddlesticks-tones... wew, scary stuff. This has an early 2010s creepypasta feel, one of the legitimately disturbing ones not the muh haunted video game/lost episode ones. It's great.

I love how this video, more than any other, seems to tell a story. The first minute seems to me that it's setting the tone for the piece, but after that is when it really begins. 1:03-2:07 Some people are singing the songs about the children's boogeyman, known as Fiddlesticks. The nursery rhyme is a little morbid when you piece it together (High above the rotten rows, cloth and metal, teeth and crows), but then again what nursery rhyme isn't. It's just a song about some sort of boogeyman, nothing more. 2:08-2:37 Two brothers are walking through a field. The younger of the two is a bit scared because they remember the stories of the monster that lurks in these woods, but the other is reassuring them that it's just a story. However, one of them hears some rustling somewhere in the field. They call out to find who it is, but as they approach they see it's just a harmless scarecrow. 2:38-3:03 It gets dark and the two brothers are still out in the field. They hear the cawing of crows, which starts to unsettle them. They sense movement somewhere in the field when suddenly, something comes bursting out from the field surrounded by crows. An interesting note, when killing demons, he says what they feed off of. Evelynn is Agony. Tahm Kench is Addiction. Raum, the demon with Swain, Secrets. Nocturne is Nightmares. And, when he himself dies, he says Horror.

What makes it worse is that you can tell who the people are from the quotes. From parents reassuring their children, lost travelers, people trying to help, and then there are kids. There were KIDS.

The game: Colorful, quirky characters, funny animations, meant for everyone. The lore: Has a few of the most tragic, sad, horrifying, brutal stories in modern fiction.

I'd pay good money to see the faces the VA made during this recording session.

the worst thing is that he sounds like he's out of breath

The voice acting here is profoundly good, and I can hear several themes the actor was going for. The raspy gasping makes FS sound sick, very, very wrong, and constantly out of breath. He's struggling to speak, not because it needs to breathe, but because it doesn't understand what it's emulating and is just attracting prey and/or arousing fear. Absolute terror probably seasons its meal, like basting a turkey, and FS is absolutely going to fuck to the fear turkey. The random tonal shifts make it sound more alien. Like, if you heard this in the dark, you aren't sure what the fuck you just heard, but it definitely isn't human. And then, the actor compounds this with a trick of speaking while inhaling air, letting him hit notes in dialogue and make sounds that aren't normally possible because he's effectively using his vocal chords backwards.

"Your not... real." you can almost hear the desperation. And isn't that just sad? That your died, denying it to your last breath.

“They haven’t come back from the fields.. it’s been three days.” Is HORRIFYING when you realize that Fiddlesticks was in the house the whole time to hear them say that….

I can just imagine a story when Garen and Lux are trapped in a village that's being stalked by Fiddlesticks. Garen's trying to be calm, initially not believing that it's Fiddlesticks. After all, he's just a fairy tail, right? And then in the night... "High above the rotted rows, Rags and metal, teeth and crows, Fiddlesticks, death of men, Fiddlesticks, FIRST OF TEN!"

If you read the short story for Fiddle the guy telling says Fiddle stalked and tormented the town for like months before he finally "attacked" made the people paranoid turned what was once a thriving town into slums turned friends and family against each other one by one lanterns on people's houses going out night by night...until....well I think the video explains it well....

God, the rework of Fiddlesticks is phenomenal. They turned it from a kooky-looking scarecrow to a vaguely-humanoid nightmare thing made of jagged steel and burlap, held together by primal darkness.

The most scary shit about it is how casual it tells makes the listeners relive that particular story about a pair brothers turned victim, though quite warped the emotion, the fear has been well translated into fiddlesticks narration, its downright fucking scary.

From 2:17 to 3:05 the voice lines tell a short story 2 brothers walk out on the field to see a strange figure (fiddlesticks) the brother (possibly the older one) reassures that it's just a scare crow, the following voicelines almost tell it all, Fiddle sticks is alive, alot of running and panting, one of the brothers hide inside the house while the other brother is left to die outside screaming to get in.

Fiddlesticks douse uses quotes from otheres but they are quotes he heard not his victims, the lines “brother please don’t hate me” and “little light” are from people who are still alive in current lore (those two being lux and sylas). Now for the lore part of those line *confetti and cheering* , little light is what sylas calls lux (because of her light magic and possibly because she is the only mage to be able to walk around demacia (imho that is), while the lines “brother please don’t hate me” is from lux and her fear that garen will hate her just for being born with magic.

Fiddlesticks' recreations of its victim's last words, uses a slightly toned down emotional tone, meaning its victims were probably ten times more emotional... Now, take into consideration 2:49 the way it says "it's alive" has so much sheer terror in it... Imagine how the victim may have sounded.

This one character makes me almost play League solely for his lines. ... Almost.

Kellen Goff is so talented, the diversity and depth to each line is incredible.
