Thank you. You made my day when you showed the pink bowl. I have been knitting and felting hats since 1990. And stretch them on a set of IKEA bowls that are different sizes. You really made me smile in Pennsylvania USA.

Congratulations on your recent marriage, Alison. How precious to be able to wear your shawl that has such a warm family history. Thank you for sharing your boards with us. I remember them when I was growing up. I’m afraid I don’t know what happened to them. Sad. So useful. I was particularly interested in how you dry the shawls, scarves and sweaters. So simple, yet so effective a way to keep the proper shape of the object. Thank you.

I'm the only knitter in my family, and I like to gather ideas & techniques from lots of traditions. I made a pair of sock boards from clear acrylic sheet, like Plexiglass.

Congratulations on your wedding! This video has been released just as I'm sitting here with a selection of sock boards in my Etsy basket. I usually use cardboard wrapped in plastic bags. How I'd love to have things like that with so much history behind them (I think my dad would run off screaming if I asked him to make me anything else!). I have a lovely Shetland jumper board that was hand made by a man in his 80s, and I wouldn't be without it. Thanks for the video :)

Congratulations on your recent marriage. Perhaps you do know but in case you haven’t seen it on KZfaq I thought I’d mention that Irina of Fiberchats podcast has a knit along of Shetland inspired shawls. It has inspired lots of knitters internationally. I think it’s wonderful that this has evoked so much interest. Your mother’s shawl must be so precious to you. I love Fairisle knitting but haven’t had much experience of lace knitting. It’s great that past generations have passed on these skills. Your work is superb.XAngela

Congratulations on your marriage! I love all the boards you have and the wonderful history and sentimental value of the beautiful boards. I especially love the jumper board and the jumper you showed was gorgeous! I do love the hat board too. I never thought about using a bowl. I have so many of them, I now have a purpose for them since I haven't baked in such a long time. I bought your lovely Stoorbra sock pattern a few months ago and am excited to start knitting the gorgeous pattern. After seeing all your boards, I think I'll also be making my own for the socks too.☺

Lovely episode. I love how you think of your late father and your grandmother’s cousin as you touch the beautiful boards. I’m curious to know whether you wet-block? I assume so. I’m currently wet-blocking some pieces and my goodness! Wool takes a long time to dry.

I do treasure all my boards and the family connections. I usually give my wool a light spin in the machine and then block when damp. The wind here dries it in no time! Thanks for watching the video:)
