My version of a "tutorial" Just showing and trying to explain how I shift a 13 speed. I weighed about 77,000lbs during this. I'm really sorry about the audio!! P.S., Yes I wear ankle socks, and yes, my legs are sexy.

Thanks a shit-ton for this video bro. I've been driving 10 speeds for four years and I'm starting another gig on Monday morning that has all 13's. After watching your video a few times, I know feel confident enough to jump behind the wheel Monday morning and take off just as if I'm still in a 10. Thanks again bro!

Melvin Vega this comment in regards to the one about floating gears. They thought him how to but he doesn't want you to know about it is simple depending on how old is your truck most of them goes by rpms between 1200 to 1500 up to 1800 if not mistaken ,Rev up rpms let of gas pedal change gears no clutch only when come to a stop for first gear or reverse . Any feedback appreciate it
@andraedwards4175 жыл бұрын
Floating gears a way easier to do than double clutching and it's more relaxing and you don't have to look at the RPM tach to shift smoothly just listen to the motor when it starts to quite down then it's ready to shit

I've spent the last few hours looking at instructional videos online and other than not wanting to call the gears by the number on the shifter and your little break out into song, this is the best video I've seen so far. Camera under the seat is genius. I hope you still get these posts and that you know how helpful you are being to people.

+Delvon Hall You gotta be kidding. Where in hell did you get a licence? Overdrive is a mystery? Here, give you a lesson.. Pan the throttle. Switch the red button ahead and let your foot off the throttle. Wait or it to catch and pan throttle again. Undo it by slowing down the engine, put the red button rearward and give it a bit of juice. It will engage. These are only half gears so about 200 rpm will do it either way.

It's still amazing this is all done without the clutch up-shifting past dead start as well as down-shifting by double "clutching" without using the clutch. That clutch really only starts to engage at the upper end of the pedal travel. Great video Matt - thanks! Stop and go traffic must suck!

Actual driving this is a great video. For anyone taking the CDL test DO NOT FLOAT GEARS! had to throw this out there since a friend of mine actually does the tests. The testers (most anyway) dont want to fail you for it but they have to when they see you do it.

What are the RPM range you use for upshifting and downshifting so the gears dont stuck, or they just go right in. And when you downshift did you tap the accelerator at same time while moving the gears.

@fisoxlt11 жыл бұрын
No you don't have to use the clutch to shift but its use is recommended. When shifting unsynchronized transmissions, you have to match the road speed and transmission speed, otherwise you'll grind. Clutch discs are wear items, meaning they are meant to wear out over time, and they are checked and adjusted or replaced at certain PM intervals. Transmissions are not considered wear items. Between the two, clutch disc's are much cheaper to replace than a transmission.

Its comforting to know that you can downshift full gears and not have to split I thought you had to downshift 7 gears that would be a hastle.

Hi this is a cool video. I'm a female and I've always wanted to drive a 18 wheeler and I give my props to all the female drivers out there on the dangerous highways and bi-ways. So to top it off, I met a guy, which is now my boyfriend and he drives big trucks and he is teaching me, and for the first time in my life I drove his truck. I was scared as hell, but I soon got a lil comfortable and he taught me so well, even though he was shifting some of the gears for me. An I was driving on the interstate. I just thank god that nothing happen and we made it back home safe and sound.
