Lol I remember ESAM was very convinced before the set that there was no way ShinyMark was losing to Skyjay. Sure he pulled it out but that was close as close can be. Skyjay somehow manages to make these unwinnable matchups seem winnable.

It’s so funny. Watching the set with ESAM’s perspective really spun me for a loop lol. I can now see why ShinyMark didn’t play this correctly. What ShinyMark did was undeniably amazing, but a lot was unnecessary when he could have just baired. Also, as a Pika main myself, the lack of fsmashes to catch Skyjay when he was out of a jump and had to up B was KILLING ME!! Kudos to him for pulling out the win of course, but I can see the need to change his approach though.

i would say he's doing it for the content but he's not a content maker....i almost had a heart attack myself although skyjay incin is terrifying so he might have just resorted to his stuff he uses in other matchups that he knows works, but yeah I agree JUST BAIR HIM

There have been a few others, like Magister and there was a good one in japan too iirc, but yea, Skyjay is by far and away the best one, esp now since the others have dropped off.

It literally doesnt matter unless you're a top 200 level player. In fact, there are even top 200 level players who dont slingshot. Its a tech that can make you a little better, but its not at all needed to be good.

You do know that Esam helps coach Shinymark right? Plus, Esam is better at this MU than shiny is. Shiny is the better player overall yes, but that doesnt mean that Esams decade+ long history of smash knowledge and labbing isnt valuable. He's still one of the most knowledgeable players in the world.
