Ferrariman601 Its also a negative. The cultural is so expectant of everyone working so diligently people often overwork just to meet “standard” Offices often are forced to send people home because they dont wont to be cast out for working less then others. And if they do home, they spend the rest of the time at the bar to ease their stress.

It strikes me that the Japanese aren't letting standards slip like other countries as the years go by. This attention to detail and care used to be the standard in western countries. It's the basics, nothing esoteric. But whereas the train systems and infrastructure elsewhere is breaking down, the Japanese don't seem to be content to allow such degradation to occur in their country. Even the concrete skeletons of the highway supports and bridges seem to gleam.

I spent two months in japan, near takasago and I would take the train from there to shibuya and abiko. Not once the train was late. If it says it’ll arrive at 7pm and leave at 7:010pm it’ll arrive at 7pm and leave at 7:01pm.

My company sent me to work in Japan in 1974.( Kawasaki heavy industries ) I know its a long time ago but I still remember thinking that industrial practices in Europe are so behind the Japanese. I did enjoy my stay there and the social life. I did make a point of using the rail system but in the 70's there was virtually no signs in another language. Got lost a few times getting off at the wrong stations. Staff always sorted out the crazy English guy and pointed him in the right direction.

Great video! Thanks for posting this! Technically, the train stops for 12 mins, 5 mins for boarding and alighting passengers, 7 mins to clean all 16 cars by the super efficient cleaning crew (seen in the video) The driver is reporting for duty not exactly a change of drivers, since technically, the female employee is not a driver but a conductor, as the train switches direction at Tokyo station for the Tokaido/ Sanyo Shinkansen Nevertheless great video! :)
