The Saloon variant of the Audi RS3 is a new introduction to the model lineup, maintaining the Quattro all wheel drive system, and with 400PS form the 2.5l turbocharged 5-cylinder engine. That makes for a car that can get a move on with a lot of pace, as well as carrying Audi's usual high level of fit and finish.
With BenzeneBen taking the reigns fully solo for the first time on the Shmee150, let's see what the Audi RS3 Saloon is like!

He has a very different narrative style to yourself. Which I liked... this was very much more of a 'review' as he spoke about the feel of the steering wheel and the emotions gained from driving the car. It was a welcome change and I hope to see more of imposter-Shmee :)

More only-Ben videos!!!! Pls! He is a PERFECT HOST to Shmee150! Maybe you should make him a channel's star, like be Ben & Tim (lile Parker and Eddie from Vehicle Virgins back in the day, (sorry if this reference is offending or annoying in any way, but I really think that subs will grow a lot with Ben on camera more often). I think it is time for Shmee to sort of 'expand' since it has 1 milion+ subscribers.

Excellent Job Ben! Double the crew in front of the camera, is double the test drives and reviews. Thank you for your comments on the RS3 also. i am thinking of buying one. Audi die hard here.

Makes you wonder, why would anyone buy a current gen rs5 over this? Rs3 sounds better, only 50hp down (which could be easily made up) looks pretty similar, lighter etc they should've done so much more with the rs5 considering how loved the older V8 model was

Hooray!! Definately the best video I've seen on SHMEE150. Keep Ben there and put Tim behind the camera :-) As for the transverse engine. They're just copying what Sir Alex Issigonis did with the Mini in the late 50's early 60's. It keeps the car compact and stops engine going in front of the front wheels.

It's not the first time Audi has transversely mounted a engine in any of there cars. Its been mounted that way in lots of their cars, most notably in the TT line. in fact this is the exact same package (engine+transmission) that you get in the TTRS.

ej257_boy You're right. Every engine available in the A1, A3, TT, Q2, Q3 is mounted transversely as a package with the transmission. Including the S- and RS-Models at this lower range. Only the bigger models starting at the A4, Q5 get their engine installed longitudinally.

20noups I don't think so. Just look up a few pictures of the old RS3 8P or the RS3 8V pre facelift engine bay. Just the older 5pots in models like the Audi 80/90 were mounted longitudinally.

I don't think you'll find any vertically mounted engines in any car, ever. The word you need is longitudinal ;-)

YESS..how many times have I told Tim to 'show us the engine' and he doesnt...he's going on about stitiching on the seat belts or whatever. Mate you went straight to THE most important part the engine...hats off to you. One more thing i'd like ot see more in-car where it shows the road as well...maybe have a perminant cut in in the corner somewhere?
