I appreciate your videos. Thank you team for all your hard work & explaining this to us. I just purchased a set of 6112/5160 for my Tacoma SR5, with no TRD logos, that I’m proud of. 😃👍🏾 And thanks for the news update.

Love your content, guys! Ive got a question - when you guys are talking about the 8112s and discussing whether or not knobs are needed. I agree with trusting the bilstein engineers to dial in the shocks for a specific platform, but what about when the platform now has modifications? For example, would someone wanna adjust their 8112s if they’ve got a steel rear bumper and camper shell in the rear? Or say a hidden winch up front? Curious for your perspectives here.

It would be nice to see 8112 vs a long travel comparison just for fun.

I have the same response when I see guys buy Power Wagons and immediately put 20” rims, 6” lifts and other random parts. “Why buy the Power Wagon?”

If i go with a 6112/5160 setup on my 5th gen ORP 4Runner and want a slight lift (think TRD PRO stance), what rear coil spring would you recommend? Not running heavy loads or bumpers.

Enjoyed the discussion and appreciate a good description of the use cases for each of these shocks. I currently have the 5160s on the rear of my Tundra and love them - big upgrade over stock in my opinion. I’m in the mostly on road with occasional moderate off road group. Question about these shocks: I currently have shackles which give me ~0.6” of lift in the back and am considering adding 1” blocks to get some additional lift. This would push the lift to ~1.6” total lift which is just outside the stated lift range for these shocks (0-1.5’). Will this have a significant impact to ride quality or durability? Should I be thinking about going with 8100s instead, which are rated to >2” lift? Thanks guys!

I would put the truck on a lift and make sure the shocks are not limiting the droop. That will result in a harsh top-out and may be fatal to the shock. If that's the case you will need a longer shock.

Thanks for listening! Since you are only 1/10th of an inch over, you should be fine with the 5160’s.

Definitely the Toyota guys of the shock world 😂🙄. "I have a guy call in saying his shock is leaking and feels like crap. You know I find it hard to believe" Sounds just like Toyota fan boys

@SvonSeggern that's to be expected work for bilstein. What I'm saying is you tell a Toyota fan boy that a Toyota has broke they are all in denial.
