We were not expecting Honeybee's (our mini jersey cow) First Milking to be like this...

The logic behind "stealing the calf's milk" just baffles me, especially with dairy cows. Dairy cows, as you said Kay, have been selectively bred to produce FAR more milk than a little calf needs. A dairy cow can easily. EASILY, supply enough milk for both her calf and a human family to drink and, for some breeds like Jersey and Holstin, still have plenty left over. Anyway, there's my rant for the day lol

@@kannadadhalliaatagalu3116 What’s not true? You know, one serious pet peeve of mine is when someone screeches “NOT TrUe!!!!” without even bothering to explain themselves. I wish you could understand just how annoying that is. So please, enlighten me with your immense dairy cow knowledge. Thanks.

I watched a KZfaq video from a mini Jersey farm a few years ago where the owner made a milking stand, with a low ramp, that raised the cow up a bit and had space for the milking machine below her.

I just sold my Corriente (large mini) because she was too big for me. Honeybee is the perfect size for me. Or a sheep or goat. I love the baby belly overalls!
We had an old cow that was so short we had her step up on a platform with her back feet only. She was so good about it. Worked like a charm.

I shorten the tubes, between the claw and the inflation by 2½", in order to milk my mini-goats. And, you do not have to break down between every milking. We do a double flush just like a pipeline does. You will get there. I love your show. I was raised around dairy cattle so I am used to all the 'stuff''. Keep up the great videos.

Do you still strain your milk if you use a milker like these? Where there is no dirt and hair falling into the milk? I have only had milked, so I am not familiar with the process of using a milker.
@justanotherchannelfornow28462 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it be better to have the milking platform (And it's stanchion) straight in so the cow could walk in and only turn to step out? It looked a bit hard for the cow to turn into the tight 90 degree right corner of the milking platform.

Heifers taste good too😆 Silly udder size doesn't determine milk quantity 🤦🏼♀️ We don't feed grain necessarily at milking just when it's chore time. It could be an hour before or after

Animals usually eat placentas,to protect from predators,build their milk production for calf....honeybee didn't have to worry about either of those things ...I've seen this happen in different types of animals ...even in the wild ,how ever that one moved far from it with babies!!! ...PS who did you sell ??? You never said!?!

My jersey can support 3 cows I have no problem sticking 2 extra cows on her. The ones I'm raising right now are 7 months old and they probably weights 700 to800 pounds the jersey heifer I had is the smallest of the three because the other 2 are steers.
