What you need to know is that lineage by Torah Law is through the father. If Joseph isn't the father he doesn't mean a thing. Also, genealogy in the gospels are irrelevant, since the genealogy of the Messiah is from King David through King Solomon. Neither if the gospels genealogy accounts show that. Besides, nothing the Messiah is to accomplish has happened yet, and there is no such thing in Jewish Scripture of a second coming. The concept of a Messiah is Jewish and we know exactly what the real Messiah is to accomplish and the proofs needed. None of what xtianity's proof are a factor.

Yes, this is good affirmation that Christ existed and did things that the Isaraeli leaders of the time couldn't explain. It would be better to argue that He didn't exist, rather than that He's a "sorcerer." That is powerful language that says something impactful happened. What I can see clearly from history is that He existed, was executed, and His followers were still willing to die for Him afterwards. If He hadn't risen, it would seem that His followers would have moved on. So this is very good affirmation for me that He was Messiah. It's most reasonable that He rose after His death. Otherwise His people would have moved on.

Biblical scholars agree that Mark is the oldest of the 4 gospels. It lacks the resurrection. Didn't Mark think it was important? Or did Matthew invent it to prove that Jesus was doing everything that was expected of a son of God in the culture they were living in. The death and resurrection of great men, becoming Gods, was a theme in the Greco-Roman world. A theme the early Christians adopted to show that their son of God was equal or greater than any competitor like Romulus or Orpheus or Osiris. Or even the recent Julius Caesar, who was made a God after death when a bright light shone in the sky for a week, signaling to the Romans that he had risen and ascended to be a God amongst Gods.

Strange saying since Deuteronomy if one guesses what the book of the Torah is, and certified by Huldah, is that book. Written not by Moses but someone around 710s or 620s BCE. Moses did not write any books. Leviticus written by priests. Numbers and part of Joshua, part of Genesis, and part of Judges originally Book of Jashar. This book is the story of Joseph and thus King Jeroboam of Israel. Genesis edited by 700s BCE to add Judah's story with Tamar and 620s BCE adding Assyrian creation story. Now Exodus is mixed, part book of Leviticus, part story of Moses , his wife, and brother-in-law.m

@@cmain3931 , yes, but books can be edited. Compare how Yahweh soeaks to Isaiah in dream visions , same with Jeremiah, then this story about David. One book 2 Samuel 24:1says Yahweh caused a calamity for David's sin. Another 1 Chronicles 21 says it was the other one, S.t.n. Both editors of Samuel and Chronicles saw the story and interpreted according to the events after Absalom rose against his father David and took the throne. This help us date some of the stories and their revisions. The writer of Exodus says people called the Deity El, El Shaddai. The writer of Deuteronomy calls him Yahweh. So Deuteronomy is newer, could not be from Moses. Genesis first 8 chapters is the story of Gilgamesh which Israelites picked up in Assyria. The rest of the chapters is the story of Joseph and jis brother Benjamin, founders of Israelite Kingdom. Editor added Judah's story to claim they were blessed to to create Kingdom of Judah. Both pick up ancient material, edited at least 2-3 times. Moses most likely wrote some psalms and a few stories found in Exodus, Numbers, and Leviticus.

Thank you. This makes me steadfast in believing in Jesus. If it is true that the guy in the Talmud refers to Jesus, it actually gives credence to the NT. They said Jesus deceives the people (John 7:12), that He exorcizes demons by demons (Luke 11:15), and they asked Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon? (John 8:48)." It also gives credence that Jesus did miracles, because the Talmud says Yeshu was a sorcerer. Also, it's eye raising that they use the most deragoratoty names to describe Yeshu. Being a Roman's son and being a sorcerer I would think are two of the worst insults to call a Jew in 1st century Israel. To a lay person, those desriptions can seem like a lack of specificity to describe a person.

Yeah, good one. I was thinking the same the other day. The gospels say the same that the jews say in the Talmud about Jesus, our Lord. It all fits. Now I gotta be honest. There are some mysteries that are not clarified completely, such as his birth. Other than that, I see a pius man, rabbi of the first century that had his own halakha, like all other rabbis of his time. And I wanna clarify. He did not make a God of himself, ever. Unless the "son of man" that is refered to in Daniel is/was thought to be a divine figure.

@Jonnhy0989 I don't believe that Jesus is God, but the Son of God, who takes the place of Israel, God's firstborn in Exodus 4:22. This was to be fulfilled by the high priest's prophecy, when he said, "it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish,” for Jesus would die, "not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad (John 11:50, 52 NKJV)."

You can't use your pagan New Testament to prove Jesus was the Jewish Moshiach. If you wish to believe in your pagan religion, that's your business. Just don't try and convince we Jews that you Christians know more than we when it comes to anything regarding Judaism. Learn to read Hebrew, study the original Hebrew Bible and take a year to study Judaism under a Jewish rabbi and through Jewish books. Then maybe you will understand why we reject everything your pagan religion states.

Sounds like this video is making an argument from silence regarding Joseph, which is fallacious reasoning. Just because Joseph wasn't mentioned in some texts doesn't mean he was invented in later texts. That is simply false inference that is framed with "what we would expect to find..." in order to make that reasoning superficially palatable. And since Paul's letters were written to address certain issues of faith and problems in the congregation, there would be no reason for Paul to mention Joseph at all.

I don't think the Joseph thing is very significant. Sure the earliest gospel doesn't have him, but then Mark doesn't have anything about Jesus' childhood and none of the other gospels that have the childhood have Joseph appearing later in the story. So a simpler plainer explanation is that Joseph was irrelevant after childhood, ie. most likely dead.

...because you've probably been exposed to the anti-Semitic drivel of the false testament for as long as you can remember, and have been told repeatedly that the Jews are all vile liars, as that is the only argument the church can bring without incriminating itself. Saying they're stupid won't work because everyone can see how intelligent the Jews are. Saying they're ignorant won't work because they're the ones who actually safeguarded the Scriptures for more than 1300 years before little yoshke showed up. And saying that it's just a difference in opinion raises the question "Why?", to which the church doesn't have a useful answer. So the only way the church can keep the gospel believer in is by turning him/her into an anti-Semite who distrusts Jews instinctively.

Hi James....To the best of my knowledge, Jews will more often refer to what Christians will call the Holy Spirit as the Shekinah and this means the Divine Presence of the one God....who Christian refers to as God the Father. The letters of the One God's Holy Name are YHVH in Hebrew. So the Tanakh (Old Testament) will refer to the Spirit of YHVH. Don't ever think of the Spirit of God as being a separate God like Trinitarians say. There is only one God that exists. Jesus said this too. You won't usually get this part straight from churches. The Spirit of God also called the Shekinah or Divine Presence by the Hebrew Bible and by Jews....is something like THE DIVINE PRESENCE Of THE ONE GOD. So as a Christian starting out on a biblical path, it is entirely possible you may be feeling a certain portion of UPLIFT and GRACE or Divine Intervention to get you started on a biblical path. I am now devoted to pursuing a Jewish lifestyle and I have moved out of the New Testament altogether, but I am positive that God had a hand as I entered Christianity because Christianity ends up being a MASSIVE INTRODUCTION to the Bible for lots of people. It took me a long, long time to sort through Christianity. There are a lot of false teachings out there. You can grow and develop a lot in Christianity by turning away from sins...repenting..

1 Thessalonians, obviously you don't know much about Christian history and the enmity that has existed between Christian denominations/sects. Exasperation over this Christian problem in Europe led to the separation of Church from State, formulated in the American Constitution. The burning to death of Christian "heretics" by other Christians (under Church approval) in the middle ages demonstrates pretty starkly the division between Christians, as does the stigmatization of the Pope as "anti-Christ" by Protestants (still today). Christianity is split between trinitarians and unitarians based on confusion over interpretation of NT doctrine, and there's plenty more disagreement than that! Christians can't abuse each other today, because the Church has been stripped of its power. As for Satan, isn't your god the God of Abraham and Moses - or is that God Satan? Didn't your Jesus worship that God, saying he could only do as He instructed him (John 12:49)?

@Iyas kelu , if there are different Jewish sects, they have never massacred each other or burnt so-called heretics alive at the stake. Those heinous crimes are only found in Christianity. We Christians don't argue, we share the gospel of good news about Jesus, The Christ Messiah who was annointed, appointed and sent by the Father from heaven to save all astraying mankind. Christ is not a matter for debate. If you have ears listen. If you are worthy to be saved God sees your heart and opens it to The Truth about Jesus, His only begotten son. Read Proverbs 30:4 You can find the reference to God's son, quoted by King Solomon. You can never deny His divine Sonship, heir to Father's eternal inheritance, which He exchanged with us on the cross taking all our sins upon Himself clothing us with His righteousness. So, that we may become sons and daughters of The Father, The Most High, The Creator and The sustainer of the whole creation. If you still want to challenge the truth Humbly ask God, no need to mention any name because there is One and Only God, The Creator Almighty. There is no one beside Him whosoever, to be called God, to show "The TRUTH". And give Him your word that you will follow The Truth revealed, the rest of your life. May God lead everyone into ALL TRUTH. Amen 🙌

For 2 reasons: 1) Joseph serves to refute the allegation that Jesus was conceived by adultery/fornication. The reasoning is that if she had, Joseph would have divorced/not married her. The fact that he remained with her is supposed to indicate that the accusations of adultery are false. And isn't it interesting that the gospel accounts point to this scenario? 2) Joseph serves as a genealogical anchor to *legally* connect Jesus' lineage to David, to validate the claim that he is the Messiah. Once these narrative goals have been accomplished the gospel writers dump Joseph entirely as if he never existed. Did he die? Did he leave the family? Not a single word!

The birth stories are only mentioned in the books that require them (for the purposes of the book). Mark doesn't mention Jesus's birth at all because it's not part of what that book is trying to convey. The second book ever written in the NT, Matthew, contains the birth story (Joseph as well) because it's part of the message of the book. Mark depicts Jesus as the son of man and Matthew depicts him as the son of God. Both are true but have different requirements to make their point...that's all.

@Abraham Mani Pessimist Terrorist. Your fabricated Religion is outdated! Whoever believeth etc. Why you dont believeth? You follow Sheytan/ Iblees and call it believeth? 1-During his lifetime, Yashou or Imanuil (Jesus) was not an important and was known to few in small and poor villages. 2-Jesus was not a Jew. He was Phoenician. 3-Jesus did not die on the cross. And after his crucifixion, he was rescued spent the rest of his life with his wife Myriam Magdala in Massilia in France. 4-Jesus was a man and not God or the son of God. 5 -Jesus did not perform supernatural miracles, only extraordinary healing. 6-The wedding of Jesus and Myriam Magdala took place in Cana, a small village in Southern Phoenicia Modern day Lebanon. Jesus Christ did exist; he had wisdom but he put himself into lots of troubles, really unnecessary. He was not a dominant social figure. None of the four Bibles written by the disciples of your Jesus Christ was ever written by any disciple, for they were totally illiterate, and could not write or read, or understand ancient Greek, Latin or any foreign language. Note: In fact, only scholars, historians and an elite of the ruling class, and highly educated people (In and outside the Roman Empire) could read and speak Greek, Latin, and/or any foreign language. Worth mentioning here that Jesus spoke in Aramaic, and not in Hebrew. His disciples who were illiterate and from the lowest social class spoke only Aramaic. Only Judas was fluent in both Hebrew and Aramaic. Of course Jesus Christ knew both languages. He learned those languages at the Phoenician Temple of Melkart, in healing centers in Phoenicia and from the Essenes. When he argued with the rabbis he could have used any of the two languages. But his disciples could not. The Hebrew was spoken a few kilometers from where the disciples lived, and they did not know a word in Hebrew. So, don’t expect the disciples to know and to understand Greek or Latin, languages which were spoken thousands of miles away from their homeland. The four Bibles are not authentic. And this is very sad for you because your people can’t distinguish between the real Jesus Christ and the mythical one you have created. More than ¾ of your Bibles is incorrect, distorted, copied and recopied several times over, and each time new stories were added, and old ones were deleted. That is why you see many contradictions in your Bible. The Gnostics: Q: How about the other bibles written by the heretics? Same thing, many stories were fabricated, but at least they got the most important thing right.” Let me give you a few examples that you can easily understand. a-The Gnostics said, Jesus is not divine; he is not the son of God, and, they got it right. b-They said that Jesus did not die on the cross, and, they got it right. c-The Gnostic said Jesus never came back from the dead, and they got it right. Jesus did not die on the cross! I hope I am not upsetting anyone, but the real story involves the existence of two tombs. Apparently, it was planned. Jesus Christ was given a rag soaked in vinegar and “Moukhadar” which caused deep anesthesia, and made him sleep. Later in the day he was indeed stabbed with a spear, but not fatally, and at sunset the soldiers assumed he was dead and took him down. His uncle Joseph of Arimathea who had arranged the matter wrapped him with a shroud, and took him to a faraway cave (A second grave) to hide him and help him recover, but then two persons hired by his uncle took the bloody shroud and left it in the tomb everyone expected him to be in. He was never there, thus giving rise to the story of the resurrection. A few days later, Jesus was secretly taken to Phoenicia, where he partially recovered. His uncle Joseph of Arimathea put Jesus and his wife on a Phoenician boat that went to Cyprus. Eventually, they fled to Marseille, France, where they settled permanently and had children. Jesus worked in his profession, a handyman (he never really was a carpenter, this is a translation mistake), lived peacefully, and avoided all matters of religion for the rest of his life. His descendants lived in France, and some of them still exist.

The New Testament is not scripture regarding laws and regulation rather it is a description of the method and a Way to the source, the Eternal God. The Way to Perfection and Holiness is by the Spirit as it transforms the individual on the inside. There is transformation and a renewed mind. But why not address the Protestant response to this? The explanation from their side is that the four gospels were written to different audiences with different purposes. The Jewish people are the only ones for whom the Davidic line was relevant. There wasn’t any reason to include it in the others because it wasn’t relevant to the audience or the angle of the story being told. This isn’t an attempt at a mic-drop I’m ONLY saying there’s another side to this that should be addressed but I’m finding Rabbi Tovia doesn’t seem to look into the opposing views.

On the other hand, the membership of a born-Jewish person in one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel is patrilineal, based on the tribe of the born-Jewish father. Therefore, a child who is born to a Jewish woman and a Gentile father is fully Jewish, but without membership in any of the Twelve Tribes.

Until you want the eternal truth that's beyond man, beyond man made gods, beyond our own limited understanding because of the filters we have to process thought and study, you will continue down the yellow brick road and realize that you built a foundation on false hope, a false god, a just everything that is antiGod. The reference to Paul not having mentioned Joseph is not important at all because the Jesus in Paul is so bloodless, so without any history almost because Paul did not know much about Jesus. He started to invent an own theology years before he went to Jerusalem to meet the apostels and disciples that had known Jesus.

2 Corinthians 3:14, NIV: But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Odd that the early Christians wrote things they believed and were willing to die for. But you are saying someone took efforts to rewrite the Talmud to avoid being killed. What other parts were altered?

I would only like to say, if any mystery was ever solved by the first obtained evidence, rather than subsequent evidence, nothing would be true and we'd run around with our heads cut off. Even criminal investigations do not rely soley on the first or most prominent evidence. In this situation we are starting from a conclusion and working backwards. The more we research, the more information we learn.

Paul seems to know little of any Jesus that acutally existed. What if the Jesus of the Talmud inspired a small following that eventually became ran by the Three Pillars Paul mentions? And they had a sect in Petra, where Paul indicates he went after his revelation. So, the author of Mark, to avoid controversy, creates his character of Jesus based on Paul's writings?

@@lizwood3514 "This entire matter that I am commanding you, it is that you shall observe to perform, do not add onto it and do not subtract from it" Deuteronomy 13:1. These are the words of G-d through Moses to the Jewish nation, given at Mt. Sinai. Not to you or any other people. So maybe the New Testament was given to you- maybe G-d wants you all to keep it. But why do missionaries keep insisting on trying to push this NT on Jews??? You see from the quote above it would be idolatry and heresy for us to accept any "New" Torah!!! You yourself believe the Old Testament is true!!! Why not leave us Jews alone, and concentrate on the rest of the world??? There are many peoples and religions out there that are paganistic, idol worshippers, atheists...Let the Church concentrate on them, and leave us be!!! We can't accept JC as a god, and we won't either accept him as the messiah unless he comes back and fulfills what Scriptures describes as the messiah- paternal descendant of King David, brings the world to peace, brings the world to monotheism, builds the Third Temple as a "House of Prayer for all nations", and resurrects the dead. The individual who will fit this description will be accepted and embraced by all Jews, with open arms. And until then, why does Rabbi Tovia Singer or anyone else have to fight so hard to go elsewhere??? The song that took the world by storm, went viral, MBC "Yerushalayim"- translation- "Jerusalem- mountains surround you, and G-d surrounds His nation FROM NOW AND FOREVER"- this is King David speaking!!! That G-d WILL NEVER forsake His people!!! So please stop trying to tell us because of our sins He changed His mind, and from now on the Old Testament doesn't count. Mary 16. And mention in the Scripture Mary when she withdrew from her family to an eastern location. 17. She secluded herself from them, and We sent to her Our Spirit, and he appeared to her as an immaculate human. 18. She said, “I take protection from you in the Compassionate, should you be righteous.” 19. He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure boy.” 20. She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, and I was never unchaste?” 21. He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to humanity, and mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'” 22. So she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a remote place. 23. The labor-pains drove her to the trunk of the palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.” 24. Whereupon he called her from beneath her: “Do not be sad; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you. 25. And shake towards you the trunk of the palm-tree; and fresh, ripe dates will fall on you.” 26. “So eat, and drink, and be cheerful. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious-so I will not speak to any human today.'” 27. Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible. 28. O sister of Aaron! Your father was not an indecent man, and your mother was not unchaste.” 29. So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?” 30. He said, “I am the servant of Allah. He gave me the Scripture, and He made me a prophet. 31. And He made me a blessing wherever I may be, and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live. 32. And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel. 33. And Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.” 34. That is Jesus son of Mary-the Word of Truth about which they doubt. 35. It is not for Allah to have a child-glory be to Him. When He decides on an issue, He says to it, “Be,” and it is. 36. “Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.”

Galatians 1:6-9 I can’t believe how you waver-how easily you have turned traitor to him who called you by the grace of Christ by embracing an alternative message! It is not a minor variation, you know; it is completely other, an alien message, a no-message, a lie about God. Those who are provoking this agitation among you are turning the Message of Christ on its head. Let me be blunt: If one of us-even if an angel from heaven!-were to preach something other than what we preached originally, let him be cursed. Joseph was not mentioned in earlier writings just as Jesus did not claim to be God until the oldest gospel. John's Gospel. This could indicate a later invention. If my memory is correct, Jesus' answer I AM is identical to the answer of the blind man who was asked by Jesus if he was blind from birth. The blind man used the same expression I AM, which would probably be a way of saying Yes.

Good stuff but very obviously the Talmudic take on Jesus were just negative but rational invented explanations for Jesus having no father. Its doubtful Jesus brought or intended Christians to embrace idolatry. And while we know he had to have a father, that doesn't mean it was a Roman soldier just because anti-Christian Jews taught it as fact. Talmud needs evidence as much as anything else.
