Shocking, why did Martin sign with Aprilia?

Silly season takes another unexpected turn and Martin doesn't get the Ducati Factory seat like everyone expected. What does this mean for the championship in 2025?
Note: After filming this I saw the rumor that Marc knew Ducati planned to promote Martin to the factory team and put him in Pramac so he announced on Thursday he wouldn't take a Pramac seat. That forced them to choose between him and Martin. I think that probably how it went down. Check out my short on that: • 3 Things You Need to K...

Why is everyone so sure that Jorge will deliver on another bike. On that Pramac Ducati even Zarco used to be fast. I think this is the end for Jorge even tho Aprilia is a good bike but I don't see him being consecutive on it, maybe few podiums and that's it. Also until it's official I still think that Ducati will choose Enea over MM. Yeah I read Carlo Pernat saying he's going to GasGas but they were also saying that Jorge is already a ducatis rider.

I think Martin shown consistency across a variety of tracks for sometime. That's more than a lot of really talented riders have done. Adaptability is another factor which you don't know until a rider actually switches. Some riders are fast on a certain bike and never again while others can adapt their riding style. Jorge Lorenzo was the former. Incredibly talented on the Yamaha M1 and never did well on anything else.

And by Ducati not offering him the seat earlier, they virtually gave him the finger. Pramac Yamaha in 25? Jorge wasn't re signing with them no matter what, and 93 said no way too.

Yah, but Aprilia is a finicky type of bike. That needed to be ridden in the particular manner unlike the Ducati that can able to suit to most of the riders with various rising style. Although Martin's arrival is huge for them. As they have landed best & fast rider that can able to suit the Rs-GP's character. Of course it needs some improvements to get it imprinted to him. But what I am worried is Bezzechi. The guy is fast & talented on a bike. No doubt about that but it seems he has been slow to find a solution when he has problem. Like this year with his Gp23 eventhough he already knew what he needs to do.

I feel a bit sorry for Jorge, he’s done everything right and can’t do no more. People have gotten the factory seat from achieving a lot less Jack Miller for example. But you would be an idiot to let Marc go. That 23 bike is around a second slower a lap around Mugello but Marc could still hang with the leaders. He was the only guy that could win on a Honda too in the latter years. Look how far behind the other 23 spec Ducatis are after each race. I went to Silverstone in 2013 and he had a penalty and the way he carved his way through the field was amazing. He was battling with Lorenzo who you could see was very smooth riding when Marc was like a bucking bronco. Elbow on the curb and you could hear the difference in engine revs his bike sounded like it was being tortured. He’s the best rider I’ve ever seen well him and Stoner. When you see them race live you can see the difference.

For sure. How many riders can consistently come from 13th or 14th and finish on the podium? Marc did it two races in a row. Martin deserves a good ride and he got it, but maybe not on his first choice of bike.
@smith2781
@smith2781 Ай бұрын
@@ExpatonTwoWheels Exactly. Imagine if he was on a 24 spec Ducati? He wouldn’t be leaving behind the other factory bikes like he does with the other 23 spec bikes. But he would still be leaving them behind for sure. He’s had some very quick team mates in the past that he’s ended the careers of, like Dani Pedrosa and Jorgé Lorenzo for example. As for Jorgé Martin it’ll definitely be interesting to see how he gets on with the Aprilia next year. It’s not a bad bike, it’s the next best bike after the Ducatis. That’s why the Ducati bosses couldn’t afford to lose Marc to them or KTM as they know Marc can make up for that lack of a few tenths a lap. With Jorge ok, he wanted the factory team bike. But it’s worth remembering that at the end of last year it was him that gave Ducati that ultimatum. He could have still had the factory bike with factory support with Pramac but he chose another manufacturer instead. One thing about Aprilia is they’re very loyal to their riders and will give him everything that he asks for. Unlike Ducati or even KTM to a certain extent, who just bin riders when they struggle a bit.

I think it's also important to note that the gp23 that Marc is using is the first spec of that bike from 2023, we all saw how hard a time the factory riders were having on this version of the bike at the start of 2023. It is not the gp23 that finished the year winning the championship with pecco. Personally I think it's truly amazing what Marc is doing on that bike, qualifying on Saturday when Marc was almost half a second up before crashing shower signs of the old honda days where he can literally pull a crazy lap time from nowhere. Marc on a gp25 probably 4 or 5 steps forward from the bike he has now is frighteningly formidable. Marcs 2024 mugello race time was 22 seconds faster then that 2023 race winning time.

@@scottmurray2890 You’re absolutely bang on the money mate. He’s riding the bike that Zarco had last year. The 2 factory bikes went to Rossi’s VR46 team. Marc had a new exhaust valve to test Monday but because of the rain he just did a few practice starts. I’m 42 and my whole family are bikers. Even my Sister rides she has a her own KZfaq channel working her bike. I’ve been watching MotoGP all my life and have been to quite a few races that’s one of the beauties of living in the UK. Assen is just a few hours drive away through the channel tunnel and I’ve been to Mugello once in 2006 at the height of the Rossi era. I would say Marquez is the best rider I’ve seen in my lifetime. The way he rides is unreal the way he was hanging off that Honda when I watched him at Silverstone, I’ll never forget it. He looked like he was the verge of crashing he was that far leaned over. Casey Stoner is another one that I remember well. The way he blipped the throttle through the corners on that Ducati. The bike sounded like tearing metal as he accelerated. Kevin Schwantz also on the lucky strike Suzuki sliding it down Craner curves at the old Donington Park was wild. He would leave a black line every time and sometimes with smoke coming off the rear tyre. One year my Mum was going through some old photos and she had a photo taken with her sitting on Barry Sheene’s GP bike with him. Sorry I was rabbling on there lol. But yeah Marquez is unreal and it just shows you how bad Honda are at the moment. They’re riding round dead last ( bear in mind this year’s bike is an improvement from last year) when he didn’t crash he was still getting 7th place finishes. I see a tv interview with one of the Ducati engineers and he said the telemetry data from Marquez is unbelievable how he rides the bike and is able to make up the difference with the GP23 which lacks significant traction out the corner compared to the GP24 machines.

Martin to Ducati factory was a move that never made sense to me. He doesn't bring anything to the team that they already get from Pecco. He's only a year younger than Pecco. He's not Italian. Pecco can win races just as well as Martin and can win championships. People talk about Martin's performance this year. I am not that convinced with his performance. It took Marc 2 races to figure the bike out. At the end of those two races, Marc was 33 points behind Martin. Since then he has lost an aggregate of 2 points to Martin across 5 race weekends. Marc is on a year old bike. With all the issues he's been having with qualifying and bad fridays that typically come with a new project. Ducati has had a free preview of what Marc can do and they are impressed. Not keeping Marc to keep Jorge would've been a brain dead move IMO.
