I believe the man would have had 15 or 16 wins, a significantly lower era, and 200 innings this season if he had focused only on pitching the baseball.

Also, how is he supposed to help his team greatly as a hitter when pitchers are walking him 2 or 3 times a game because they're not afraid of the guys behind him? Vlad's power has dried up in recent weeks, just like Ohtani's, although Vlad is still hitting for average. I still have a problem with an MVP who's had a crappy offensive second half like Ohtani, but the award is probably his now, barring some monster final week in which Guerrero carries the Jays to the wild card game all by himself and Shohei goes 0-for-rest-of-season, finishing under .250.

Vlad doesn't have a chance to win the triple crown. He trails in RBI by 10 with only 6 games left. Ohtani does deserve MVP.

@@MrHmg55 If Ohtani was just a DH I would agree. But when you throw in his pitching numbers, he should be unanimous choice for MVP. Vlad is great, but just like Ohtani's Angels, Vlad's Blue Jays are likely going to miss the playoffs too.

These last two pitching performances, combined with Vlad's wimpy stretch, clinched the honor for Shohei. Honestly, like everyone else, I love watching him play the game.
