He's only hitting .259, he hit .190 last season, leads the AL in CAUGHT stealing, has never hit .300, and will strikeout as a hitter almost 200 times. Baseball is very, very hard.

Guerrero surpasses him in a lot of other important statistics. Triples don't mean anything. The guy is amazing but he's only hitting .257 Guerrero has the superior stats,and has more homers than Otahni.

@@johon127 It doesn't matter. This is all about offense not pitching. I don' care about his pitching stats. Vlad was very valuable to his team and one of the reasons why they had one of their better seasons in a long time. It's not called MVP for a reason. Otahni's hitting stats are mediocre compared to Vlad period.

I've been watching MLB for almost a decade now and I've never seen such a graceful runner like Shohei. Given his size, he is really fast and graceful. The commentator is right, Shohei do run gracefully.

He makes it look so easy Shohei is the reason I'm watching baseball today. It's depressing to see the Angels in 2nd to last in the AL West despite Shohei producing so much to help the team win both offensive and defensively.

That's why he'll leave the Angels if they don't make some great pitching acquisitions in the off season for the 2022 season. Or, he can be traded if the Angels management are dumb enough. Since Shohei states he wants to win aka be a WS champ, he'll pick the best potential WS lineup and management that'll allow his desire for dual play. Giants or the Dodgers if he wants to stay on the West coast, or the Rays, Yankees, or the Blue Jays if he wants to stay in the AL.

Number of players, ever, with 45+ HR, 25 SB and 8 trriples in a season: Willie Mays (1955) Shohei Ohtani (2021). There have been more than 6,000 instances of a pitcher striking out 100 batters in a season. There have been 351 instances of a batter hitting 40 home runs. Shohei Ohtani is the only player in MLB history to do both in a single season 151-152 *years.* Then add in his speed and base stealing ability. By seasons end the number of people with 40 HR will only be 6-7, and not a single one of those other guys has a single strikeout, much less 150. Then compare the AB's for Ohtani with Guerrero, and Perez for the number of HR's produced as they have around 15% more at bats. Willie Mays, Ruth, Ohtani: all three are in a league of their own.

Actually in the US the height is measured with the shoes on. Ohtani was measured bare feet according to info. That makes Ohtani actually at least 6’5” that is why he is so tall compared to some guys supposedly around same height…And with tight training suits, (in a sport-wear ad) he has muscles like the Superman 😆😆😆 only without cape …

Triple threat. Great hitter, pitcher and speed guy on the bases. That puts big pressure on the defense, even when they overload the right side with the shift. So he gets a lot of infield hits with his speed and causes defensive miscues by infielders rushing to snag the ball and get it out of their glove.

Ohtani's 3.18 ERA better than Gerritt Cole's, excellent K's/9 inning, most unhittable pitch (splitter) in baseball, 26 SB, fastest sprint speed from home plate to 1B, most triples in baseball, top 3 in HR, hits it harder than almost anyone else and hits 100 mph pitching. Does things that haven't been none in 100+ years. Easiest MVP choice in years.

@@joeylee406 You have to look at more metrics than just ERA, but I agree that Ohtani ranks in the top 10 best pitchers in the game right now. His WHIP is almost as good as Cole's. Very solid guy to have in the rotation!

@@Dulcimerist I watched every single game he pitched this year; several times he only allowed 0-2 runs in 6-7 innings pitched but still didn’t get the win because of blown relief bullpen pitching or no run support. The 2nd half of the season he was mostly dominant, with almost no walks

Ohtani made me believe anything is possible if you want it bad enough, and all while being so humble. I was beginning to think that wasn't true anymore. He was already the MVP lock at the half way point of the season for true baseball fans and this is coming from a diehard Yankee fan for life.
