Looooved this video! Just Got my own Fujifilm X-T3 and your videos are part of the reason. I actually did a video with my first impression of the camera, and I gotta day, I was surprised. I’ve used canon my whole photography life, but it’s always felt like the shoe didn’t quite fit right with me. The style and feeling of canon just wasn’t my cup of tea. Now the shoe finally fits and I feel more motivated than ever, with my Fuji xt3.

Moving from Canon to Fuji once all of my gear sells. Just can't get over the image/video quality of this camera. So silky! Everyone's freaking out that it's not full-frame, but I started with mirrorless crop when I began photography and I didn't feel overly empowered when I upgraded to a 5d mark iii. Hard to beat Canon's color science, but Fuji's definitely VERY close at this point. Nice video, man! Very clean! Give kudos to your camera guy, too!

I more than highly recommend you use Capture One Pro for Fujifilm RAW. I use Lightroom for Nikon or any other platform for that matter, but for Fujifilm, the differences in output are quite evident. I remove any noise reduction and sharpen at 140% at 0.8 pixels at 0 threshold and they are on par with FF output. I know, because I have 4 x FF Nikon bodies as well as 3 x Fujifilm X-T3's and X-H1 and an X-T20. Do give it a try. Oh, and for manual focus lenses, I use High Red focus peaking.

Wowww loved this video! I was doing research end of last year because I was curious if there were any lenses with anything less than f1.2, so this blew me away! Literally such beautiful bokeh. Did you use an ND filter? Because I can’t imagine how bright it’s be without one when filming in the correct shutter. Sounds like a great lowlight lens, but once again the manual focus has restraints. Love your colour grading, so stunning!
@MitchLally
@MitchLally 5 жыл бұрын
ELIZABETH thank you for the comment :) yeah I did not use an ND filter for this shoot but I usually do. I don’t really care too much about ‘correct’ shutter speed but I try to keep it low-ish in bright conditions.

Glad someone said this. Yes its good tactic to get the photo with great focus. But have fun trying to nail a shot with desecive moment. You will miss the moment. Yes you might get lucky but more than likely you'll miss. Its just a polite critique and criticism, with out it, you'll be lost.
@grvl
@grvl 5 жыл бұрын
I just asked, because you were more "focused" on this small camera screen and lens focusing than on the subject. It felt like tourist snapshots... "hold still" and 25 frames in 3 seconds. At least one should be okay, right? You should try (every now and then) to make 1 good out of one frame taken. It's hard, challenging, but great and satisfying in the end when you nail everything.
@MitchLally
@MitchLally 5 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you trying to help man. I take photos while the model moves and pick the best one at the end. Its actually a good process because while I might be happy with the expression / angle etc - the model will also have a slightly different idea of what looks better to him/her - so having those options in post - shooting a couple of extra frames is better than only having one or two options in post. I learned this over 7 years of wedding photography - I guess its solidified as a habit now.

Michael Wu thank you Michael! Yeah I knew I would get some comments like that - not everyone shoots the same way or style. In the end I’m shooting for me - I had fun making this and I liked the photos I created - so that’s all that matters to me! Cheers!

Awesome vid on one of my favorite lenses on my current favorite camera. I do agree these 2 were made for each other, and you illustrated it perfectly. Now, just be a bit wary of the video side of the lens, shooting at f0.95 inevitably makes you have to crank down your shutter speed all the way up to superspeed if you don't use a ND filter, and it shows when you shoot towards artificial lighting (that flickering effect that creeps in when you shoot towards the window of the shop). Ideally, you should put the shutter speed at a speed that matches the rhythm of the flickering (for neon lights, for example, it's usually around 1/50 to 1/60s), then, tadaaa, no flicker anymore. Or yeah, ND filter all the way for this beautiful lens. Other than that little detail, that was a really cool vid. Thanks for sharing your experience !

jjstarrprod I did see the flickering and thanks for pointing that out. Honestly I really want to make a video about using the correct shutter speeds to sync with the hz of the lights you’re shooting under. Its actually a pet peeve of mine - but this shoot was so casual and just like friends hanging out making nice videos and photos and I really just ended up keeping the shots with the flicker for some reason. I do agree with the shutter speed rule but I honestly don’t worry too much about it unless its a high budget production - most of my clients don’t notice a slightly higher shutter speed - as long as its not too crazy - I do have an vari ND for the mitakon too just didnt bring it on the shoot. Thanks for your comment! Appreciate you watching :)

@@MitchLally I appreciate that you appreciate ^^ As for fixing flickering lights in post, I remember Peter McKinnon had shown a cool trick in one of his tutos vids on Premiere, like copying the flickering part on a second layer, putting it on top of the original layer, move it forward (or backward) by one or 2 frame, then put it in 50% opacity, and magic ! Flickering is gone ! (now, I don't know if it works in slowmo, but it costs nothing to try it out).

This camera is my best purchase ever. Fuckin hell. I'm not photographing anything atm because working too much. My mind is starting feeling depressed. I will have a shoot next week. Very nice compositions mate, though. Keep it up!

Finally a decent review of the XT-3 with this lens. Any chances of a low light testing?

Kriz91eo possibly. I rarely shoot at night. I actually shared a link to a wedding video where I shot at ISO 8000 with the 0.95 lens! Inbox me on Instagram and I can send it to you if you like.

I love my mitakon .95, cool video dude! I liked the part where you said some times its nice to slow down, but you were pumping out a shot every secondy without looking through the evf.

Alexander Scott hahaha yeah man. I think once I get the frame/focus I just take a lot of shots while the model is moving. I don’t like to have the model stay still because it doesn’t look natural plus I have plenty of shots to pick from in post. I do slow down a bit more with my framing and focus selection though.

@@MitchLally Well keep it up because its definitely working for ya. The photo at 7:44 is masterclass. I got tried of punching in to check focus so I turned on focus peak (red), when the camera is in manual mode. You might also dig it. Keep up the good content, cheers.
