I honestly like how you tell everyone straight off that this isn't for everyone. Right now I run with a Canon+magmod set up, and you're right, it is very top heavy. I think eventually I'd love to move up to this. Thank you for your slightly biased-non technical review :)

Yes I use the Godox V one and with the mag mod it is exceedingly top-heavy especially if you get there big bounce head V1 often flops over so definitely wish they’d make that flash stiffer but I hear the Profoto a 10 did exactly that and since I just bought two b10’s an a10 may be in order to give me a 3 light kit. Yeah 810 would make a great room light since you don’t need as much power.

Quick general flash question - do you like using the sto-fen (bounce diffuser) for outdoor run and gun flash? If so how do you control it? I heard it spills light everywhere.

I just bought a profoto A10 and I don't know what's going on because I was at a wedding and out of nowhere it didn't flash anymore. the model light does work but I don't know what happened because it doesn't flash. Could it be that there is something I did to it that I have to check or was my flash damaged? Could you help me please?

we don’t work for them and we’ve only used the a1 and never experienced that, so we wouldn’t be able to help you. try reaching out to the company.

Great images, certainly capture the the joy of a wedding and those candid moments. Because I don’t/can’t do weddings and rarely use strobes away from the studio, except for a single flash to light up the foreground on a landscape shot, I’m as well off with the Mcoplus/Shanny mini and larger Yongnuos. But for a wedding/portrait photographer these look the bees knees, I nearly said "The dog's dogs..., but then I remembered Rachel is a lady. For high end weddings $1K isn’t a prohibitive amount, and with all other expenses taken into account they should certainly be paid for within a year easily, and the light looks beautiful.

Can you do a video about how to creatively capture people attending the wedding?? Maybe with flash on a dance floor and then at tables candidly. My clients always want table pictures and I hate doing straight on pictures of people half eating their food. 😆

It's hard for us to do tutorials at a wedding since we're focused on our jobs, but I hateeee doing table shots, too. A trick we've learned is if the couple asks for them, tell them we only do them if they go around to every table with us. That way there are so many more candid moments to capture and everyone is happy to stand up for a fridge photo.

It's good for fast action photos :) however , i feel comfortable with my Goddox which costs a few hundreds dollar but it gets most of job done

Mango Street I have, on my canon system. When I first put it on it worked out of the box but after turning it off and back on it didn’t. Checked menus on both camera and flash as well as firmware update. It comes on but not bright enough to even light up my hand. Have already read about others having the same issue. Just wondering. Thanks for the reply!

Could you guys do a video on using an off-camera flash in general? While i feel that i'm well-versed in natural light photography i don't know where to begin when selecting an affordable off-camera flash to start shooting more events and what features matter in a flash.

I have one simple question that you referenced in the video but I will ask again for a direct answer: if you are new to Canon cameras, and you are looking to purchase a new flash system and money is not deciding factor, quality is: would you go for the top of the line canon flash system or pro photo?

Assist a wedding photographer, then eventually look to second shoot a wedding. Once you feel comfortable with all of that, you can more easily make the move into booking your own weddings.

I just came across this video right after I’ve just bought the Magmod system.... Do you still use the Canon speed lights and Magmod system for anything? Waiting for the Sony version here. I currently use the Godox system, but find it to be unreliable. Not saying that this speedlight will solve my problems, but it will be interesting to see.

Another good one is the V860II. Same features as the A1 and 1/10th the price. $1000 for a speed light is the dumbest thing I have ever read. There's NOTHING game changing about this product.

The AD 860II flashpoint blow the doors on this profoto A1 ,the 860 is faster and more powerful than the A1. Shooting for 37 years the profoto is over price and under deliveries. I have the B1 kit and the D1 500 watt kit . Flashpoint has profoto beat in price and speed . The 860 speedlights has a battery that can shoot 500 full flashes with one charge .can the A1 claim that .

Would you still get them if you didn't get em for free or would you stay with your canon? At $1000 a piece plus another $300-$400 for the trigger you are looking at around $2500-$3500 for a nice set Plus extra batteries and hopefully some sort of insurance for them because if they fall and break itll prob be another $1000 just to fix them. For that much you can get a second body, or a couple of lenses, or a used car lol

i think we would actually buy them. $2k to not have to deal w/ slow recycle times, AA batteries, clunky menus, heavy magmods -- it's all worth it in the long run. but obviously it depends on your priorities. if you don't have a second body, it's probably best to put that money towards that. when allocating spending, i think about targeting the weakest point in my setup -- which other than my sigma 24mm, is probably those canon speedlites.

I love you guys and all of your videos, but..... The A1 is a game changer because........? Because it shoots a bit faster as a typical flash for 10 times the price? For a bouquet shot sequence I would not call it gamechanger, thats's for sure. Maybe for those, who already own a Profoto system, and for some reason they lug around the whole package for weddings... Not to mention, how much the clients love a 5fps flickering flash-burst sequence at night. Just do it a few times on a wedding, we will see their feedback.

We glossed over the 20 reasons why this flash is a gamechanger for us, but yeah, having a flash that fires every time even as the battery drops as the reception carries on is an absolute gamechanger for us.

As wedding photographers we really appreciate the fact that a flash can be really fast, the fact that it has a rechargeable battery and the thing of the magnets and accessories is very practical ... I do not know if I would pay the price, but the improvements me seem quite interesting.

Even though you said that if you were poor you should stop watching I watched and it's just too much money for a flash. I think there are other brands that can make same thing and are way cheaper. But, in the meantime, I'm still happy with my Canon EX 600 RT

Yep, too expensive for most people. We acknowledged that it's perfect for professional wedding photographers, high pressure commercial shoots, and current profoto users, but not really anyone else.

Well, I never said I wasn't a "professional" wedding photographer, I just said it is expensive. Been reading in other forums filled with well known professionals and most agree that the power/price ratio is not worth it. But thank you for your reply, I do enjoy your videos
