If you are only thinking about becoming a mechanic, it's probably not for you. I have been a professional mechanic for 40 years. Before that I was an amateur mechanic. When most kids get their first tricycle, they ride it. I took mine apart. I got my first dirt bike at age 8. It needed a top end rebuild, and the local farm mechanic helped me do it (or rather I did my best to help him) he went out of his way to explain things to me. I was hooked. I rebuilt by first car engine at 16, and started drag racing before 18. Spent 4 years in the military (as a mechanic) and have been both a professional and amateur mechanic, hot rodder, and drag racer for the last 40 years. I retired from my job earlier this year. I have several vintage cars and motorcycles. Nothing with a computer. Having to deal with computer vehicles that led to me hating my job. I was born with gasoline in my blood and a wrench in my hand. Mechanical things, mostly vehicles, have been my lifelong passion. If you don't have that passion, look elsewhere.
