In my new Custom Championship in Automobilista 2, which sports the F-Classic Gen3 class and the F1 1990 Season mod by Immersion Modding Group, I try to put the bar for authenticity even higher.
I am competing in Nigel Mansell's Ferrari 641 and will mainly only use the devices they had back in 1990. So it's manual shifting, no HUD, no looking back key, and only limited radio/telemetry.
This is the 10th race at Suzuka, Japan, 50 % race distance, historic date and weather, tyre wear and fuel consumption on 2 x. AI skill is on 118 %.

If the replaycam gets stuck on a certain spot/perspective, which sadly happens quite often, there is a workaround: Save the replay, exit and then load it once again. Sometimes, you gotta reload it 2 or 3 times, but then, it finally works like it should.

118% difficulty and finishing where you did is awesome Timo! Maybe avoiding a couple little ‘offs’ might have had you higher by a spot but great driving overall!🙂

Been watching all of this championship races, pretty entertaining. They finally made the AI retire and not always pit to fix failures, that's why now there is a more realistic spread of retirements. Unfortunately as you said the AI is still stuck not knowing how to overtake each other and are incapable of out braking overtakes no matter the car class. Dunno if its a game engine limitation or some sort of gargantuan programing paradox, but if they cant make the attacking AI brake later, no matter what they do the AI will never be as good as lets say the latest F1 games at overtaking each other. I hope they manage to make it work somehow, that's the biggest issue holding the game back from being the best single player experience amongst modern sims. Nice videos, keep up the cool content!

You can force/adjust the retirements yourself by tweaking the custom AI file.

@@blablabla1612 Yeah, I know. But before the AI would pit and repair when they had engine failures, so you would have some 5 drivers with 3+ pitstops but only 1 or 2 retirements. Now the AI will retire their cars instead of pitting for repairs.

@@jrrs8692 Ah, ok. As I saw in my replays, they still manage to go for a repair when the engine failure happens near to the pit entry. But they do not drive several laps with a damaged engine and then finally manage to pit, like it was in earlier builds.

@@andreasbrandt421 Ah, ok. Just load my Ghost in TT and then its setup in the session. Then you will have my Qualy setup. For the race I only added fuel and changed tires to Hards.
