In a world where the traditional route of college education is often seen as the only path to success, it's time to challenge the status quo. Shortcuts can mean success! Join us in this eye-opening discussion as we delve into the idea of embracing your child's unique journey, even if it means bypassing college and the burden of student loan debt.
We live in an era where passion and skill can often outweigh a formal education. By encouraging our children to pursue their passions and talents, we empower them to forge their own path to success. In this video, we explore the concept of normalizing the decision to let your child choose shortcuts directly to their passion, bypassing the conventional college route.
Join us as we challenge the notion that college is the only path to success and empower parents to support their children in choosing the path that aligns with their dreams and aspirations. As homeschoolers, we prepare our learners for anything, embrace diversity in education, and celebrate the unique journey of each individual child.

I loved this advice. One of my children wants to be either an artist or stage actress, it’s hard to take a step back sometimes and parent the kid in front of you. Finding the ways to support her is really what’s most important.

100%. But we’re setting our kids up to do the very best in the world so let them go do the thing that they want to do.

Exactly! We provide the foundation and then we let them choose.

I will have to watch this! Not sure if you saw, but a couple weeks ago I made a video specifically about why college is not for everyone. As many of your subscribers know I am a history professor, and I often tell my own students there are better paths out there for them than a 4 year degree.

So I gave it a watch, all great points you made. Especially about going to a community college first! You save so much money. There is one other point I make. What is going in colleges today is not always good. Classes are often being watered down, to many times colleges are pushing agendas more than education. This is true more in the Social Sciences, but I have seen it spill into other areas as well. Thank you for making this video, we need to work on erasing the stigma that college is the end all to people have a successful life. Working hard, treating people well, being organized, having knowledge and wisdom matter just as much, if not more.

My son took a free intro welding class last weekend. Many trades people love giving back too!

My husband dropped out of high school, got his GED, and pursued plumbing. He was a master plumber by 22, I believe. He was a plumber for years, and eventually, that led him to become a NCCER pipefitter and then a pipewelder. My point is that he has taken great care of a wife and 5 children on one income for many, many years! Success doesn't always require college and debt. ❤

PREACH!!! Not enough love to skilled trades! They're worthwhile and can be quite lucrative!

I hope these parents who "don't want their kids to:" also don't require any of said services like *gasp* haircuts, waxing, dyeing, or the others like fast food, restaurant food, plumbers, carpenters, tilers and bricklayers. The butchers, bakers and candlestick makers! I understand wanting the best for our kids, I really do, but gosh do I stress myself out most of all hoping my son ends up with a life he WANTS, that aligns with himself, and that I've facilitated his getting there ❤

I love this, especially as we watch white collar jobs become automated before our eyes. My husband is a software engineer and cyber security specialist, his back up is HVAC if he were ever to find himself needing to make a career switch. Machinists and blue collar jobs are needed more so now than ever and to always push our kiddos to college isn’t doing them justice.

I wish my adult kids had gone into a trade every time I call for a repair and see that bill. 😂 As long as they are happy with their choice ultimately I’m happy for them.

And one more point, even if someone get a degree they not surely going to love it by the time they finish, maybe don't even be relevant field anymore. I made 5 Bachelors in Engineering (In EU we only pay for the books) I worked half year as an Engineer and quit over spending time with my baby. She is 12 now and I happy working online earning 7 figures with advising on Time management 4 hours a day.

I think it would be cool to have a little unit study for highschoolers on different trades and what you need in order to get into that trade school. Hey girl, I’m looking at you. Do you want to create something?
