The Satechi SM1 is Satechi’s latest addition to their keyboard line up. Although it works great as a basic keyboard, it definitely can use some extra features to make it a great option for a low profile mech keyboard. What are your thoughts?

i'm looking to get my first mechanical keyboard so this was really helpful. mostly for productivity, for mixed use on my work laptop (windows) and personal (mac), and for aesthetics that fit with my desk space (mostly white/silver furniture and hardware with LED & RGB accessories). while im not interested in hot swap-ability, it's kind of a turn off that there arent more size/key/color options for this considering the price, so i may go with the keyboard i'm currently leaning towards instead (RK Royal Kludge M75)

Oh nice! Royal Kludge is a good option for keyboard as well. They are affordable and definitely offer tons of options for designs and layouts. I've tried their RK100 for a 98% keyboard with a number pad and I was not disappointed.

I have the Satechi X1 Slim and love it, not exactly sure if I'm going to move to the mechanical but enjoyed your review.

Thank you! Mechanical keyboards are a different vibe even for simple typing so I definitely don't blame you. My MX Keys is still my favorite for productivity because of the height and how fast I can type on it

Oh, it looks just like Kartoman K1 I bought on aliexpress for $31. And I thought that they have copied the design, but it was already available in December.

This keyboard definitely feels cheaper than most I have tried and I wouldn't doubt it's using some existing mold to complete the keyboard

Who is using a low profile _mechanical_ keyboard for daily use on here?

I do. The Satechi doesn't even compete in this space. I use the Azio Cascade Slim 75. I plan to upgrade to the Lofree Flow when they release their V2. That Nuphy you have is pretty close to the best you can get.

@@jtd3421 Definitely agree that Satechi is not close to competing in this space right now. Definitely a disappointment for me. The Lofree Flow is a nice option as well, if I didn't have the Nuphy Air75, I would have gone for the Flow as my low profile mech keyboard

Looks nice but crap quality, get a Logitech MX keyboard with mac layout which is 20x better quality, longer battery life and built like a truck.

I definitely would recommend almost any other low profile over this one. It doesn't feel premium, just more on the plastic side

Good video, though some of the comparisons are comparing SM1 at 99 to stuff almost 4 times the price.

Thanks! Yeah I just had to throw in the Work Louder keyboard since the design is something that is way different than these other brands. The rest of the keyboard on there though are well within the price range with some of Keychron's being at or lower than this Satechi one

@@nerdgrafx I have a K3 and I like it no volume knob though like some of the higher ends. I have decided to not buy this one as it's probably not even an upgrade and might not even feel as nice as my K3e3 browns...

@@minstrelca Yeah I would not upgrade from a K3. If you have a regular K3, you can always go for a K3 Pro to get VIA compatibility, but other than that, the typing and sound would be the same for the most part
