Thousands of people have gathered in London's Hyde Park to celebrate 420, the unofficial International Weed Day.
The event is recognised by marijuana lovers all around the world to celebrate the use of the Class B drug while campaigners call for it to be legalised.
Ian Collins: "The organiser said it's not just dirty hippies that smoke marijuana. It's older people, business people, academics. All sorts of people use cannabis in a responsible and active way".

Love bouncers, usually very fair, top blocks. BTW though it does bother me that like any drug it ends up making anxiety worse unless you keep taking it. Painkillers end up causing more headaches. You need more and more of it for the same effect. It seems to work at first as a quick fix. Some people let it get out of hand and use it to hide issues they should fix in their lives.

Exactly and they can tax tobacco and alcohol but not cannabis. But would loose money from pharmaceutical. Typical greed

I am quite shocked. Talk Radio is usually pretty bang on, but this is just ridiculous. I felt like I was watching something from the 1950s.

You can, just look up the definition of legislation, "a rule governing society, GIVEN the force of LAW by CONSENT" Legislation can only be forced upon you if you agree to it! People really nned to learn and understand the difference between legal and lawful, because they are completely different

I personally think the UK government is against this because of big pharma lobbying. In lots of medical cases where pharmaceutical drugs do not work cannabis seems to be a viable medicine. It's all about money. Also the government always thinks of the worse case scenario and bases laws upon this. Alcohol is a far more destructive drug. By the way i think other drugs such as cocaine and heroin should be illegal.

And when the presenter, Ian Collins, mentions about preferring to have a clear head himself. More ignorant statements, and 1000 neurology professors throw their hands up in dismay! Anyone else remember these arguments from at least 30, 40 years ago when you were a child and listening to grown-up radio? Disgraceful waste of time

Keepin it illegal will ensure more people are imprisoned for Cannabis. You can still be a dealer, you'll just be able to do it legally and without risk.

@@user-ec9yu1ep2j Yeah, the idiots who don't play safe and are my competitors... If it were legal the market would be snapped up by people with mass capital. They will be able to offer better for less, much like supermarkets have done to butchers, and what Weatherspoons have done to pubs.

It's been decriminalised for medical use in the UK, and the UK has one of the biggest medical cannabis markets in the world so it won't be long at all until we see a recreational market =)

There's v little point in Govt trying to ban things that people are clearly going to do anyway. Better to regulate, sanitise and break the illegal trade which causes more deaths in turf wars than Cannabis ever could.
