Last week the House of Commons backed an amendment to create three new offences for dangerous cyclists.
But now 'Mr Loophole' Nick Freeman wants to law to go even further.
He wants reckless cyclists to have their driving licences confiscated and to be subject to drink and drug testing.

Netherlands here.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 What? Maybe just get some cycling infrastructure! We got more bikes than people and we don't wear a helmet. We would never take somebody's drivers license. It's even always the drivers fault if you hit a cyclist in my country. Children of 7 years old bike to school alone. Good cycling infrastructure should be the talking point. Nothing else.

Ive been driving for 20 years sometimes as a professional driver driving bon lorries driving for 40 hours a week around residential areas and have never been frustrated by a cyclist. Its the easiest thing to pass, there are lots of bad and angry drivers on the road but not many cyclists, only bad drivers get confused as how to pass a cyclist, and they out themselves In the comments

Ever been to my country the Netherlands with more bikes than people? It's just across the Atlantic, maybe you've heard of it. 😂 No number plates and 7 year olds driving to school alone on a bike. Nobody wears a helmet too. It's all about bike infrastructure, nothing else. This isn't even a conversation in my country. Just suggesting you put a helmet on a bike would end your career on TV. We would say that you should make that road safer. If that happens in my country the car driver or road infrastructure would get blamed in court. You should always be aware in a car and expect a cyclist, even with a green light. It could be a kid that is just learning to ride a bicycle. Just a helmet is a middle finger to somebody who likes his hair in good shape when he arrives and it's freedom to us. Nobody takes away our freedom. They would tax you too for owning a bicycle. We would start a revolution before that happens.

I was a minibus driver and passengers would often comment about the group of cyclists riding two,three or four abreast, I would point out that they're actually only riding two abreast, but you are mistaking the slightly staggered formation, because that's what you're looking for. I witnesses cars and vans going through red lights constantly and generally just driving badly.

Any cyclist, who cycles on the pavement is dangerous. It is also illegal.

I cycle on the pavement sometimes because motorists drive so dangerously. I'm not a danger to anybody because I only do this when the pavement is free of pedestrians. The police pass me often when I'm cycling on the pavement, and although illegal, they use a bit of common sense. Much like it being illegal to fly a kite in public, I'm sure the police would be fine with that too.

@@cyclingSausage I have experienced cyclists on the pavement many times when there are pedestrians present. It is unfair to state motorists are dangerous, when the majority are not. The law is there to protect pedestrians for a reason. It is also lawful to keep your dog under control , especially in a park. But again that law is flaunted.

@@tommcmanamon8327 In my experience most motorists are dangerous. Most will overtake too closely not giving the required 5 feet to cyclists. There's a law to protect cyclists for a reason and very few motorists adhere to it. It's the reason why I cycle on pavements when I can.

@@cyclingSausage I have seen many cyclists go through red lights skipping from the road onto the pavement instead of waiting. Cyclists also sneak through stationary traffic at traffic lights. Motorists obey traffic regulations or they are booked. I agree there are some motorists maybe dangerous, however it is no justification to put pedestrians at risk, by travelling at speed without no consideration for them. That is why the law is there to protect pedestrians, especially the elderly and women with prams or toddlers.

If a pedestrian steps out into the road without looking causing danger to an oncoming cyclists does the pedestrian get a driving ban

Part of the highway code deals with anticipating possible hazards. The highway code is for the adherence of ALL road users not just motorised vehicles. However there is now a pecking order of responsibility entailing accidents and top of that pecking order is pedestrians. The same applies to a motorist hitting a cyclist even if that cyclist may have suddenly darted into the pathway of the motor vehicle, if there is a collision the motorist gets the blame.

St. Jeremy of Vine claimed that he never rides his bike on the pavement. Yet not too many months ago he did a item about urban foxes. There he was riding on the pavement videoing the mess that they'd made. Hypocrite.

I truly believe that Cyclists should have to have a permit to ride a bike after taking a test AND most importantly insurance so any damage they cause to cars. pedestrians etc is covered
