Thanks my friend. I always appreciate your encouragement across the Pacific Ocean there. I was bit shy with my voiceover & explanations but watching some of your videos compelled me to at least try. I just had to plug in anyone that may need help per observation. I hope it just helps someone make a hard decision. As you know video is hard but with practice like building bikes you streamline an optimal process with improvements. Thanks again Rod - really appreciate your samples. Ingat always & God bless

@@DungcainMotion Hey pal I just Bought the same bike and u love supe much. But I'm a little disappointed. In the peddling. You thank if I installed a 7 speed gear. U thank that would. Make it much much easier to peddle Up hill.
@DungcainMotion
@DungcainMotion 2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnWayne-xo7js are you referring to a 7 speed rear replacement cassette? I feel it’s really the smaller crank set gear sprocket that also needs replacing. The 36 t I think it is doesn’t do much with the rear freewheel for pedaling the fat tires, engines & weight. It’s really to heavy to pedal that thing for me & rely mostly on the motor assist. Have you check out our Phatmoto Facebook group? We got some knowledgeable folks that can prolly help with the pedal gearing & such. I’ll eventually swap the motor on that thing one day. Anyhow thanks again for your visit & I hope I somewhat helped

@@DungcainMotion ya man thanks for the advice I'll check the Facebook page out. And ya agree it's super hard to peddle any up hill. And I'm all about pull Tough ... lol speed don't matter to me. But is the back sprocket the the chain from the motor is hooked to Is it a...... you said 36. Tooth u think the 50 tooth they sell there Webb site will help pluse the the 7 gear ratio....... idk at all So I wod love some good advice on how to make it not so hard to peddle. Thanks bud.
@DungcainMotion
@DungcainMotion 2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnWayne-xo7js - The stock rear drive sprocket connected to the motor is a 50t. The 36 gear I was referring to the Crank set gear attached to the pedal, I think needs be larger to help ease the pedal. If you are having trouble peddling, the drive 415 or 420 chain connected to the the rear drive sprocket maybe a little tight. Loosening the chain tensioner wheel freeze it up a bit. Be careful of the brake calipar and 50t sprocket, not much room there and they can grind each other down. Hope this clears up a few things

Thanks for going over the bike. I liked the way you told us that the brakes tend to fade, the driven sprocket was too close to the brake caliper housing, the chain came too tight, the throttle linkage design was weak and how to correct it, etc. I was thinking of getting that bike, but I'm not too sure now. I don't want to use half of my time maintaining the bike, like on a motorcycle I used to have.

No problem. Keep an eye out for the used marketplace’s, you can find one that someone gave up on that you can upgrade. Yuup! Most of the parts that come on this bike will need to be replaced with better hardware as you tinker with the Phatmoto. Not for everyone that has little or no mechanical skills

I have the 2021 Rover. I put Kevlar street tires on on. Love it. Put a bike trailer on it and do some Door Dash with it. FYI your fuel filter is on backwards. Don’t turn it around replace it. Otherwise you’ll flush trash from it into your carburetor.

Thanks Man - Ye man this was the Veteran's day tribute and the not so easy way to change up the frame without sanding it down. It's a bit of a pain to get the vinyl around the tank oval but if you cut up the vinyl and puzzle it together in smaller pieces it is easier. This took we like 3 tries to get right. It's easier application on the tube bars. Hope that helps.

Even wrecked badly folded my CDH forks in half the rest of the bike was fine even the rim was still true bye *I* only needed to adjust a tiny bit

Did your frame come with a seat & post? I’d used that & grab another seat post. All you need is 6 to 8 inches. You have to cut the top post to seat properly or simply get a bobber seat. Hope that helps!

I BOUGHT ONE TOO-YELLOW. Stock they suck! Where do I begin? Remove the govenor. Replace orginal carb with 30-40 mm 2 stoke adapter and jrl carb. Replace the calipers with hydraulic mechanical ones. Replaced the front forks with staight forks. Added rear rack and dual baskets. Replaced throttle grips w/alum. one. Added slime tubes and slime puncture strips. Changed the clutch to 1pz clutch from amazon. Added a bright headlight. And added a set of plastic yellow fenders from amazon. Changed the pedals. Added bones chrome rear view mirrors. If you ask my opinion. Id say save your money and build a v twin bike! Dont spend it on phatmoto!

I hear ya man - The form and design I think was good but not sure they had the quality team to get the product out to the market. being in quality and looking at the bolts - they just didn't pick the right harden hardware thus a lot of issues with critical bolts getting loose out of the box. Rule of thumb any moving critical moving parts that has bolts need to be inspected, taken out and re-locktite. Especially that JackShaft bolt. Anyhow - This was the first AT model that came off the line and hopefully they make improvements with the parts and the quality inspection. It looks real nice - but needs a mechanic and not a novice beginner. For the money and experience - I may pick up the rover as I hear that got better with the 3rd Iteration. Will see - I still prefer building from ground up with tried quality parts. If you really want one - I say research it first before the disappointed. Expect to do some work. Thanks again for your comment and insight really appreciate it.

I'm interested in adding a mid drive electric to a PHATMOTO, the sticking point so far seems to be the extra wide crank arms.

Would be a good project when the Lifan goes. I’d build an electric from ground up if I get a chance. They also released a Phatmoto e version if you can’t. But price is almost same as you build your own with quality parts.

The regular Phatmoto is better, fat tires are not meant to do 35mph and the fork on the fat tire Phatmoto is deadly, the fork on the original Phatmoto is also deadly but you can replace it with a entry level RockShox for around $200 and your good, however a good fat tire Fork is about $700, and then you're going to need a thru axle Hub which it's going to cost about another hundred dollars, if you don't know how to lace your own wheels going your going to have to pay bike shop another hundred dollars, and then on top of that you're going to have to replace the headset which is about another $50. So you're looking at $950 just to put a fork that can handle that kind of speed and power. If you want a Phatmoto you should get it now because they are only $800, and the newer are $200 more for gears that you don't want, unless you're going to paddle it without the motor

THanks for that insight my friend and your visit. Ye unfortunately this bike is like a collector piece for hobbyist when the thing fen run right. Very true on the liquidation prices and that a good time to get one. The frame will give you challenges for upgrades to 212 but feasible. Jackshaft is a novel idea but a bit awkward and can become unbalance. Learning after a few bikes from 38cc to 212 - its really best to build ground up vs kits. You choose your quality parts. I'll eventually upgrade at one point. This would probably be my last phatmoto unless I come across a gen 3 rover for a good price. Thanks again. Don't get me wrong the bike is hella cool but gots its limitation on power to weight with 79cc ackward Lifan. Check out what I do with the American Sourced Theme Bike . Ghost Rider project
