I personally love to see alcohol in skincare, especially for oily, acne prone skin type.

Yes, Alcohol isn't evil but can cause a stinging or burning sensation on some skin types. Of course it depends on the formulation, but it's not for everyone (including myself). There are only a few products with Ethanol that I can use without irritating my skin or my eyes 🙈

Alcohol hasn’t bothered me before until I used a sunscreen that had lots of alcohol in it (I think den. alcohol is the third ingredient!). It’s all about formulation!

Thanks for making this vid! I've always wondered about this specific sunscreen because alcohol is so high up on the list. I can even smell it briefly while I'm applying. But you've pointed out that it is formulated with moisturizing and hydrating ingredients that should help to offset the negative effects of the alcohol. Thanks for explaining this.

Thank you for explaining this! I use to be so afraid of using alcohol. Love your videos!

Yeah, blame Paula's Choice for that. They pioneered the movement against alcohol and fragrance. Lol. All this fear-mongering left so many people confused and even abandoning products that had worked fine for them. Having said that, I do know of some people who do have a legit sensitivity to these ingredients. I personally get along with fragrance and alcohol in skincare just fine, but not actual perfumes. If I spray any perfume on my skin, it will instantly burn and sting.

I really only look for denatured alcohol and even if a product has it, it depends on how high up the ingredient list it is. I have dry skin and that just tells me this product may be too drying for me personally, but I guess it also matters how many humectants are in it. I feel like turning and learning is a process. Lol But yeah I don’t really mind alcohol in a product.

what about for people with eczema? I recently have an eczema flare up on my neck, my wrists, and the inside bends of my elbows. I used a US chemical sunscreen that had both alcohol and fragrance.

I myself have actually found sunscreen with alcohols added to seem and look even more moisturizing at times than otherwise. I have been loving various Japanese and Korean sunscreens that have alcohol in their ingredient list. P.S. Many people don’t realize that a lot of good hair conditioners and deep conditioners often include cetyl alchohol. I don’t know the purpose of it, but I find them to be very moisturizing to the hair!

Actually there are different kinds of alcohol. Glycerin is also an alcohol. When we talk about alcohol in skincare wo often mean Ethanol (C2H5OH). Cetyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol and also a long-chain alcohol. It has a different effect on skin and hair in comparison to ethanol. Cetyl alcohol can be emollient and gives products texture 👌

@@incipedia_skincare I see!! I did not know Glycerin was an alchohol! This makes sense because the cetyl alcohols certainly feel moisturizing. To the layperson though, it’s so true that just the word alchohol in any ingredient name looks scary. But doesn’t necessarily need to be! I’m glad I finally figured this out for sunscreen specifically because I was missing out on a lot of good products!

I have dry sensitive skin and I can confirm my skin doesn't like alcohol at all. I find them drying and irritating to my skin as well as my nose. There are so many products in the market without alcohol. There is no reason to purchase one with alcohol on it.

Yeah. I have dry sensitive skin but can tolerate alcohol just fine. I mean, 2+ years of spreading 70% alcohol on my hands several times a day with zero problems. I wonder how aaalll these people who claim to be super sensitive to alcohol have managed the pandemic. Do they carry around a bucket of soap water or what? 🤔

I only have a problem with alcohol when it's the first ingredient on the list
